In this KastKing fishing gear video, Kastking Fishing Reel Review Royale Legend II 500 Ice Fishing Spinning Reel, AJ says, I've got some pretty cool new spinning reels from KastKing that are perfect for those of you that are looking for an ice fishing reel or even a small 500 series reel and KastKing has not had a whole lot of reels in that category until recently and that's just what we're seeing right now with the three different color coded options in the Royale Legend II ice fishing 500 series fishing reels. Okay so obviously KastKing’s got three different color Royale Legend 2 ice fishing reels to choose from - the black and chartreuse the black and white and of course the ever famous royal legend two spinning reel kind of that fire engine red that really hot orange. I don't know how you want to describe it, or how your eyes see it, but it's a beautiful to me. I look at it as fire engine red and black spinning reel. These things are great and now you have three different color coded options that you can put on a multitude of different applications whether you're trying to match your rod or you just like to offset it you got three different choices. And I tell you what, this hot red and black this green black chartreuse this one right here is already a fan favorite and selling out like crazy. Or you could play it safe with that ever famous white and black but you know it's not just the color that sets this reel apart and may attract you to it in a 500 series. It's what it boasts in a 500 series. Okay so one thing that really makes this reel stand out above a lot of other 500 series reels is its ice fishing capabilities right and that mainly comes into of course ice fishing rods now it's a 500 series reel which is fantastic but let's talk about yep I got the glove on. Let's talk about the actual stem here and how much longer it is as opposed to your normal 500 series reels plus the rake is a little different and what that's for the rake is so that way you actually have a better peel off and line is more controlled on some of these smaller applications okay so it actually hits that first eyelet easier but this longer extended stem is for this guy right here so if you're holding your glove and you're rotating that rotor it still will miss you have that much more room on a bulky glove setup you won't have that as much room as you can see with a normal 500 series so that's a great option if you do a lot of your fishing in cold weather you don't have to use this reel on just an ice rod. You can use it on some other type of ultra lights or other finessable rods, walleye things like that, but it also gives you that ability that longer stem if you are fishing in cold weather these things right here this longer stem on the frame will keep your fingers out of that bale as it's spinning while you're wearing big bulky gloves. Okay so not only is this just a great looking option in the red the green or the the white package, but it's what makes this reel right here super affordable but yet it's packed with all the goodness to be super capable and let's break into that right now alright so we've already taken a look at of course the colors the red the white the chartreuse we've talked about this extended stem on the frame but let's talk about what makes this frame even more unique and that much awesome in this affordable package but like I said very capable so what we have is a graphite frame with a glass infusion system to it to make it very strong very rigid but yet still maintaining that lightweight system we have a graphite rotor we have an aluminum bail we have a machined aluminum spool five plus one steel ball bearings 5.1:1 gear ratio a triple disc drag system that's gonna allow you to be very finesseable uh but yet still be very buttery smooth in some of those very light line whether you're ice fishing uh out crappie trout uh panfish like bluegill and sunfish you can run very very light line and know that triple disc drag system is going to hang in there for you so let's get into the winching side of it we've got kind of a rubberized grip here on the aluminum handle we have zinc alloy and manganese brass gears letting this thing be super witchable and super strong but still maintaining that lightweight platform that we're going for in this 500 series reel now all those things together like we're talking about that CNC machine spool the graphite frame with that glass infusion the graphite rotor the different aluminum hardware as well as those brass gears and manganese brass and zinc alloy bringing this lightweight 500 series reel in at just 5.8 ounces so like i said this is a very affordable platform but yet a very capable platform everything you're looking for in a small 500 series reel you're going to find it in the Royale Legend 2 spinning ice fishing series."

What is the black reel you compared the kastking's to?
Does this reel good for saltwater ultralight fishing? With double shielded SS ball bearings and stainless parts?
Hi Dandan, the 500 size is designed for freshwater finesse fishing and ice fishing. We don't recommend you to use Royale Legend II 500 for saltwater fishing.
I need to get an Ice fishing reel just because of the clearance that the stem adds.
