I had such a good time spending this hour with you. I would have been more than happy to watch even longer. A Jenn video is always cause for celebration and the longer ones are wonderful. I have been doing the same thing today. Cutting up my previous harvested images. I have a basket from the Dollar Tree that I keep all the pages I pull from magazines and when it starts to get full and I have time, I go through and cut the images up or discard some that I am no longer interested in using. I find the process of harvesting the images relaxing and calming as well as the cutting up of the images later. I do not do it all at the same time. I still have not watched any of the Dystopian journal yet, although I will get to it. You started it just as my Mama passed away and I just don't think I can handle it yet. I have just started very recently doing journaling, reading, etc. I could not seem to make myself do anything that I took pleasure in. It seemed wrong somehow, at least to me. Sorry for the rambling. I just miss her so much. I miss talking with her every day. Already looking forward to the next video.
I love breaking things up in different steps bc it can get overwhelming trying to do things start to finish. I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I hope you are doing okay. My mother passed when I was young and it is still rough sometimes. No worries on. ot watching certain videos. I understand completely. Staying in the right head space is most important. Thank you again Karen and I hope you have a great weekend! 😊❤
So great hanging out with you again. I love your process; I’m a batch worker too. Collage became fun and doable and expressive for me once I figured out that I should drop all my plans and all my filing categories, and just let inspiration come from leafing through all the pictures and papers I have collected. It’s so fun and inspiring to look over your shoulder while you do your thing. Thanks for sharing yourself and your art.
Thank you so much! Batching is the best! When I had my stuff really sorted, I found out I was spending so much time sorting instead of actually using the stuff and it took forever to put stuff up. Now I just shove it in something and go 😂
Yes! I have done the maladaptive daydreaming thing too all my life. I got in trouble for it all the time in elementary school, but now I realize it was a coping mechanism. I just found out through iridology *this* year at 41 years old that I had childhood trauma. Like you, I've never done the maladaptive daydreaming thing to the point to where it disrupts my life, but I can be a little obsessive and make up these fantasies to escape. I reel myself back in when it starts to get out of hand. It was a big shock this year because I tried all my life to write off everything that happened as "normal". But it made everything make sense - the daydreaming and all this other stuff I went through growing up. ❤
My process.....as you asked, I harvest pages from magazines and put them into a fussy cutting box and then I try to fussy cut a few pages a week and place my finds into two boxes, Words, Images.
I love a long video.. especially one that shows how your thought process is … I learn better that way .. so when I want to make a similar style page..I go to how you pull your images and words.. I haven’t seen your Stress journal.. that will be fun👏👏.. I love your Dystopian journal style but I have a lot to learn in storytelling… your very good at that… see ya soon💜
Thank you so much! Story telling is fun for me. Let's me getaway for a bit. Hope you're having a great day! Sorry this reply is a bit late. Sometimes life gets away from me, but I'm waiting at the vet and hope to catch up. 😀❤
Full time maladaptive daydreamer here!!! :) I am thinking about starting a channel about storytelling, books, writing, collaging, etc. It might be fun to do a video on maladaptive daydreaming! As usual, thanks for the company and for inspiration.
Had such fun listening along and getting excited for your finds! Oh, while I’m thinking about it, do you happen to use Spotify? When I heard the song that reminded me of your last Dystopian chapter, I started a playlist and I’ve been adding songs. I’d love to share it with you!
😀 It a journal I have that I just put stickers or whatever else into that I think are pretty or cute and don't require much or any real thought to it. Just to zone out for a bit 😊❤
