My dad has tied an copper wire to tata sky.. for his FM Radio... After seeing your experiment.. we tied jiofi to other end of wire instead of radio antenna.. And it really works great...I got 8 Mbps speed..that too uninterrupted.!!! While , normally we get 1-2 Mbps max..but that too interrupted ,doing loops in streaming..😅

This actually isn‘t that bad of an idea. It only should be directed to the cell tower. Might not be legal because some countries only allow 1 or 2W EIRP instead of ERP.

It will work ,reason : 2.4 Ghz radio frequency can pass through non conducting barriers like wood brick cement etc but conducting metals can reflect and absorb simultaneously the wave, in case of dish antenna the concave metal surface converges the parallel propagating radio waves to some extent at the focal point where in the above video he placed jiofi reciever/router so it receives more waves boosting the speed.
