Hi! Veteran player here. You are supposed to give as much light to the statues as possible, so you were doing the right thing! You always die eventually, regardless of how many you give away. There's no way to get to the end of eye of eden so you didn't miss anything. The more statues you light, the more ascended candles you get. AC is another in-game currency (alongside regular candles) that are very valuable, so people will light as many as possible before they die :)
LOL, I thought there was an ending and that I just didn't make it. Thank you for telling me, I was about to go on a grinding spree, collecting as many spirits and "wing power" as I could so that I could try to reach the end! I will probably make a video on my progress in a few days though, but thanks again for telling me! :)
