Really excited for the future of Deer Valley resort with their Expanded Excellence initiative. Each year will get better and better. Ski the difference!
@@LucasCatania17 I was pleased when the DV stepped in when the Mayflower Resort idea collapsed. Gonna be good to have all that other terrain to spread people out.
Lived in Salt Lake 2000-2003. Had season pass at Dear Valley. We would park on the Jordenel side. It had a gondola and parking for maybe 50 cars. Was so private. Such fond memories. Also skiing when the 2002 Olympics were happening was cool as only season pass had access to the mtn during events. Also some days after skiing afew hours would hit the Provo river and fly fish on the way back home.
Good bump skiing Lucas! When it comes to lift infrastructure many European resorts have installed these new heated 8 pac lifts many years ago. Austria leads the way when it comes to high speed / tech comfortable lifts. Mürren (Switzerland) has installed two new trams with the third tram which will operate starting March 2025. Enjoy the Keetley… enjoy the expansion 😊⛷
Yeah I’m from the East. Still Growing so I only have one pair of Skis, but I wanted to try wider so I got 90mm under foot. My old Skis weren’t even the skinniest in the family and they were 75s 🤣
Yo Lucas, it's so cool to see you start getting some sponsors to support your awesome content. And from some great brands too like betterhelp and mountain hardware (while Armada has been sleeping on you haha). Congrats buddy. Saw your comment on another video about snowbird not wanting you there. Huge bummer because all you ever do is talk about how awesome it is. Seems crazy from their side, but i totally get wanting to be where you're wanted. DV seems sick. You're doing a great job showcasing how much more it has to offer than great groomed runs in all your vids. Been watching your stuff for a while but never commented, keep shredding bro! Love the channel and learned a lot from it.
really appreciate the kind words and generous comment. i am grateful to able to monetize what i have created over the last 5 years. thanks for watching and following along. stay safe out there.
12:25 I’ve rode the orange bubble a few times which is similar to this lift and I just put my poles behind me or on the seat next to me and since there is no gap in the back they don’t fall out. Only problem is when you have a full lift.
Phenomenal video! Thanks for showing us around and giving us a taste of what's to come. Only guys I know that calls his 106's his skinny skis then goes ripping though a mogal field. That bubble chair looks insane!
I went up there and did the final cleaning inside the top terminal of that lift. It's really cool to see how those parts fit together. It's really fascinating stuff.
@LucasCatania17 you're welcome, it's normally not what I do, I work in the office, but they needed help and I wanted to see these on the inside. I'm glad to see so many people enjoying our hard work. Now if we can get the Little Cottonwood Canyon gondola sorted out that would be the one I'll show my grandkids when I get that old.
Calling 106s racing skis sent me 😂 Making me reevaluate how i feel about my 108s and 114s being "wide" Ty for this vid! Its a pleasure to see some of the new terrain before making my next trip out there!
Great video. You took a lot of time to introduce us to this incredible expansion by Deer Valley. Glad that they’re treating you right. Also, loved the comments on 106mm being skinny. Had a good laugh at that one. Just curious; what snow boots were you wearing in the intro. Those look nice.
Haven't ridden Sultan yet this year, second favorite lift after Empire up there. Not sure if it's all the squats yesterday, but watching you on Tycoon was feeling it myself. Putting in some WORK.
Thanks for the video! We're going in March. Quick question, can you ski right to the restaurants at the Grand Hyatt or do you have to jump on a shuttle?
Staying at near base of Jordanelle in a week - would you say parking at East village vs Jordanelle is better due to easier access to Sultan? Only a 3 minute drive difference.
That lift was similar to the new Madison 8 at Big Sky. The Madison lift has the bubble, heated seats, back massager, and music video. (just kidding about that last part but probably not too far off.)
Hey Lucas. You've inspired me to get a GoPro and film my own skiing. You mentioned that you used 4.3 ratio for pov shots. My GoPro 12 only seems to be able to shoot 2.7k in that 4.3 ratio. Is that how you shoot it? Or is there something preventing me from shooting 4k?
Great video once again. I've been to Deer Valley twice from the East Coast. Each time was a first class experience, no complaints. What are the boot warmers you use? Got new boots this year and they're noticeably colder than my last pair
Great video as always Lucas! I’m curious about the concerns that some people are having about lesser snowfall in the expanded terrain versus old DV. Did you notice any differences going from the old terrain to the new terrain?
i didnt notice anything in particular but there really wasnt anything open. i think their concerns are valid and there will be more artificial snow over there rather than natural.
Thanks for another great edition Lucas, just curious though, what condition would you normally use the 106 size in? Josh Daiek (yes I know he is a freak) uses (or did use) the QST 106 skis for the majority of his backcountry stuff, but I'm wondering for you where does this ski width work best?
i dont really know. i dont like the 106 underfoot for skiing. the only time i think its viable for me is really early in the season when im just doing opening day stuff. other than that, i prefer a 116+
I know right. Amazing being at a West Coast chair lift and not thinking it's from the 1950s or before... (bunch of undeserving rich inheritors of great terrain) On the East Coast, most mountains have a bubble chair six back or better. Snowmaking on the East Coast is better too. What an amazing expansion.
the new chairlifts are really cool but I feel like it's a little much having the shield thing come down. I hope some of the old chairlifts stick around because it's also nice to ride a chairlift exposed on the mountain where you can feel all the elements of nature. Also if snow gets on the bubble it'll make it hard to see the scenery from the lift
Looking to possibly invest in a condo/townhome out there and was trying to capitalize on breaking ground early pricing. I’m leaning towards something at Snowbasin or that East village area of DV. Always told myself once Snowbasin broke the ice and started building up there I would take advantage but now DV is doing this project…..
