Out here in Maui I make sure to sing me some Hookah as loud as I can. Just to remind of the things I love about where I'm from. Growing up in Clark county. 17 years young. Hanging out by the river listening to my buddys playing hookah songs and making tunes of their own. Going down to Yellow Springs to buy some smoke in the dorms at Antioch College. Chilling out high up on the rocks in Glen Helen. Just dreaming of how much fun it's gonna be when we get to Sunshine Daydream Ranch and then on to Hookahville at the end of summer. My only regret of that time in my life was that I hadn't yet met my wife. Had to go live 6000 miles away and so many more in between to find her. Now when I listen to jams like this I tell her stories of what is was like to be Ohio Grown.
I still keep their 1996 self-titled double live album, that I picked up on CD, on a regular rotation. Sweet groove(s) and vibes. Reminds me of a simpler time in my life and how I need to get back to that life, when I can. Peace, health and blessings...
Yeah I still have it too! Hash Bash 98-99 was a blast.. we'd catch em anywhere we could. Band isn't what it was after Cliff left... Those were the good ole days. ✌️
Brings back really wonderful memories of a different time in my life! Fall Hookahville 2001 was my first time seeing them and what a beautiful weekend that was!!!! Hoooooookaaaah!!!
I just stumbled across this and it reminds me of the first time I saw them in Cleveland for the first time. There were maybe 100 people there at Peabodys café in Cleveland. This was also the same year that Phish played at the Agora ballroom and Trey was laughing at me because I was rocking out so hard in the front row like a clown. 🤣 There wasn’t really a front row since there were only maybe 300 people there and it wasn’t crowded at all….This was way before anyone knew who both bands even were, but I knew.😉
