    Always learn so much from you, especially from your real life oops. Thank you.

    Thank you ever so much, Susan and Dave - a fantastic episode :) I really, really appreciate the formula for the 'scant' 1/3 of the binding width for the sewing seam: a total treat for you having worked it out (for all of us) - it sure does make sense 🥰

      It’s not terribly precise….but it does work👍🏻

    Thank you once again! I'm a day late, but I will say I really like the split screen.

    I LOVE that you do this live. I have a longarm & quilt only my own quilts. Seeing some of the same sorts of things that I experience, rather than edited to perfection video reminds me that those glitches are “part & parcel” rather than lack of skill or ability…and to just troubleshoot/problem solve rather than berating myself. 🤗

      Yep. It's true! Glitches are just part of the process.

    Thank you for posting. These videos are so helpful. I am just starting with long arm quilting and really appreciate all your tips.

    You do a great job of instructing how to handle anything that might happen you are awesome!

    The idea about a third of the binding is genius!!! Thank you so much

      It wasn't terribly precise, but that's how I think about it😉

    Great video on adding the binding at the frame. I have tried this before (eons ago) but did not like the results and it was not very efficient. I did not use a ruler (if I remember correctly). I am going to try it again on my next quilt (which is waiting to get loaded tomorrow) and see if it I do a better job. Your narration during the entire time was very good for me to hear. Thank you.

    So glad I watched you attach the binding on the front. I never thought about using the ruler. I will now give it a try.

    Watching this after and it’s great to see, thank you! Also, I love the two camera angles simultaneously. It couldn’t be better! Thank you so much!

    Great demo! I usually put the binding on with the longarm but maybe not as precise as you do. I think I must improve using your guidance. Thank you!

    Thanks, Susan. Appreciate what you’re doing for us. I have a very square quilt on the longarm now. I think I’ll try the LA binding on it. And I truly appreciate your humility. Disappointed in myself that I didn’t free motion this one-I’m STILL too nervous to do it. 😕

      It'll come! Start with a project that's not terribly near to your heart...and then just go for it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how good it looks when you step back, and that'll build your confidence for the next one 👍🏻

    Missed the live stream but enjoyed the replay. My vote is for the split screen since the larger images are easier on my senior eyes. I figure your missed wave/echo is your intentional "oops," same as the Amish do with their quilts!

    • @StitchedBySusan
      @StitchedBySusan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it wasn't intentional, but I'll take it 😄 It certainly does show that a human did the quilting.

    The link for Kai scissors is for shears. Do you have a link for the small curved blunt tip scissors?

    • @StitchedBySusan
      @StitchedBySusan  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sorry I don’t. Amazon doesn’t carry them; I bought directly from Kai at a quilt show.

    I have yet to try this, I find smaller quilts no problem to bind on the domestic, however, a king size causes me to swear! I have a king size in line to load on the longarm, I may just give it whirl.

      Update: I have done two king size quilts on the longarm now, they turned out okay. I usually want to square them before I attach binding, but these were both within an inch of square, and for a king, I'm okay with that.

    QQ what is holding your snips on your handle?

    • @StitchedBySusan
      @StitchedBySusan  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I talk about them briefly near the end - my machine has a latch for the adjustable arms that my little snips fit right into.

  • @susanpoulsen4961
    @susanpoulsen4961 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought in the beginning you said you stitch the binding to the back of the quilt, then top stitch it on the front. Now I see you doing the opposite. ??

    • @StitchedBySusan
      @StitchedBySusan  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's how I do it at the domestic machine and then it's 100% machine bound. Doing it at the longarm sets up the client (or myself) for handstitching it around to the back.
