I felt the same about Halloween Moon in a way. I loved some quotes in the beginning, but the middle to ending dragged for me. I gotta read Psycho!!! So glad you loved it. And yayyyy hahaha so glad that October's Richard Laymon book worked for you 🙌😄 awesomw month of reading and awesome wrap up ❤ 🧙♀️ 🪄 🧹
I've heard so many good things about Small Spaces. Beneath the Trees is such a fun read. I want to continue reading the series. I had similar feelings about So Thirsty. Great wrap-up!
Awesome Wrap-Up my friend! Well done for reading 16 books. October was also a record breaking month for me. I'm sorry that Clowns vs Spiders didn't work for you, hope our November read is excellent. Resurrection Dreams sounds like a decent Laymon book. Horny Zombies 🤣 yes please! I need to give Psycho a re-read, remember really enjoying it. I have never been one for witchy stories, with the exception of Maggie's Grave by David Sodergren. I actually really enjoyed The Craft, fun movie.
hahaa, I didn't dislike clowns vs spiders...but it was no horny zombies! Maggie's grave is a great witchy book....even though it is a bit light on the witches
Dang! You read books this October. 👏👏 I was so eager to know your thoughts on So Thirsty!! I felt the same exact way about it. It was pretty disappointing 😢 haha I was devestated as a big fan of her work but I know it’s impossible for every book to always be a hit. How funny- I enjoyed the kiss curse more than the ex hex. There’s a witchy wedding book about the third brother for the third book that’s Christmas themed 😂
I didn't realize how much I had read until the end. Crazy! Another channel I watch also liked kiss curse more than ex hex, so maybe it is just me. It isn't a genre that usually works for me, so it is kind of my own fault. I hope Rachael Harrison starts to branch out a bit more. I still love her, but it is feeling very formulaic at this point
Great work on reading 80 books you own so far! Halloween Moon was just ok for me too. Same with So Thirsty. Aww, redemption for Laymon. 🧙♀️ 🔮 🐈⬛ 🧹 🍔 🍑
I had totally forgotten I had read Halloween moon by the end of the month. I'd like to see Rachael Harrison write something different at this point. It is starting to feel very formula. I hope I can end the year strong with some good Laymon picks!
I'm so glad you enjoyed Psycho! I just read it last year after seeing the movie a few times and I loved it. I think you will find The Returned to be a different sort of book from Rachel Harrison's usual. It sounds like it's darker and more ambiguous with some surreal imagery. I loved it, but when I tried to read Such Sharp Teeth, that was a dnf for me, and her other novels sound sort of the same as that one, with different horror tropes thrown in. My favorite reads in October were Victorian Psycho and Rest Stop 🐈⬛.
oooh, I have an arc for Victorian Psycho and just purchased Rest stop! I'd love to see Rachael Harrison veer away from the formula she has been using at this point. I want to see what else she can write now. Psycho was great! Apparently there is a Psycho part 2?!
I totally got a copy of Samantha Slade Monster Sitter after you mentioned it last time. It’s one that I’d been wanting to get for a while but also somehow forgot about, haha. I read Small Spaces in late August and really enjoyed that one. Halloween Moon ended up in my thrift store donation box, surprising because I love middle grade and Halloween, and even collect Halloween books 😬 idk, it just didn’t work for me. I LOVE the movie Psycho, I really need to check out the book.
Samantha Slade was cute and short enough that it kept my interest. Looooved small spaces and can't wait to read more in that series. Hope you love Psycho if you get to that one! It is fairly short
A Richard Laymon book you enjoyed?! Whaaaaat! You covered so much ground I don’t know where to start! First of all, I also wasn’t a fan of the first spooksville book, quite boring. The second one isn’t much better lol. Also, I’m so mad I didn’t get to Clowns vs. Spiders 😭 I might still read it and go watch the livestream. Finally, Psycho was awesome!! Let me know if you’re ever up for reading Psycho 2!
@ Yeah he wrote it like decades later! I went through a Robert Bloch phase after reading psycho. I picked up a lot of his books. I think I bought Psycho 2 on eBay.
I really didn’t like the book So Thirsty 😢 it’s just something about the book that I didn’t like. Great review on this book and I felt the same way about Clown Vs Spider. Fantastic reviews and loving the all the book you read in October 👻
I would like to see Rachael Harrison write something different next time. It is starting to feel a little formula. When I see a cover like this, I want vampires. We didn’t realllllly get that. Also, it is hard to believe that an ancient vampire is soooo taken with a boring woman and acts like she is so unique. It is giving twilight.
@ absolutely 💯 I do have the books Sharp teeth and black sheep and as a fair try to give this author a chance. I will definitely read her other books and hopefully I can enjoy them. I was very disappointed in this book but it was worth the read. I had my same thoughts in Chandler Morrison extreme horror . I think he does best in horror and not other genre but that’s of course my opinion. Every reader is different and enjoy what they read in a story 🙂

Yes! Psycho was a fun treat for sure. Glad Laymie got some good ones in there (for me!)
I've heard so many good things about Small Spaces. Beneath the Trees is such a fun read. I want to continue reading the series. I had similar feelings about So Thirsty. Great wrap-up!
Sadly, my library only carries the first one of Beneath the trees. You def. need to get to Small spaces one day!

Wow you read so many books this month! 🎉 im glad you had a good time with some of your choices! ❤
I didn't realize how much I had read until the end of the month! The middle grade books def. helped
