Of course it should be mentioned that Pabst is no longer a brewery proper. If I'm not mistaken, all PBR is brewed on contract (by Molson Coors, if I remember correctly). It's sort of miraculous that PBR got a single vote in any category.
Every time you guys talk about Yuengling I get so bummed that I can't get it here in Alberta. Seems like a good option for a cheap easy to find beer. As opposed to the coors, Budweiser and heinekens of the world.
I think Yuengling took a financial hit a few years ago, especially in the Philadelphia area of the USA which is close to the brewery, because the family that owns the brewery/the company endorsed a certain political candidate that I'll leave nameless 😂. Political leanings aside, I'm not sure how a decision to endorse a candidate on ANY end of the political spectrum is ever in the best interest of a business. Nevertheless it is a solid beer. Especially for the price.
My go to beer is Pabst blue ribbon. But I do love me some Yuengling. So every so often i will get Yuengling & enjoy for a change of pace. Yuengling is the better beer. Great reviews. Have you ever done review of Ballentine ale? Not the IPA. I have watched your reviews and I am a subscriber, but not sure if I’ve seen the review of that if one was done.
We’ve never reviewed Ballantine unfortunately. This is my first time hearing about it and I don’t think I can get it here in Canada. Reading some reviews of it though and it seems like a great ale. Is it one of your favorites?
You are comparing apples and oranges here. A dark lager is always going to have a maltier, fuller taste than a pale lager. It doesn't make it one bit better than a classic American/German pale like PBR, it just makes it a different style.
I'm British so no bias on this one. I had Pabst and found it ghastly, truly an awful beer. I've had a few of the US macros lagers and Pabst was considerable bad. Would love to try Yuengling one day. I had 'Miller Genuine Draft' and it was certainly better than Pabst.
@@BeerBrackets Top of the barrel, you mean. MGD is of the no taste variety of pale lagers. Does it even exist anymore? I haven't seen it for many years.
They’re like the Bob Ross of beers
hahah you nailed it
🤣 100% this comment needs more attention
I'll go with Pabst Blue Ribbon, in this showdown.
definitely the "yingers" 🤣
I’ve never had the urge to try a PBR. Nevertheless, another solid review

Used to be by Coors, they have contract with City Brewing to brew their beer until 2040.
lol I didn't think Pabst would have much of a chance after already seeing your reviews of each. Fun episode once again guys! Cheers
Thanks for watching Steven!

I knowwww I feel the same way. Would be a solid go-to for me too if I could get it here.
Yuengling beer is the best
It’s so good! Do you prefer it in a can or bottle? Or on draft?

so true, when you own a brand like that why would you ever take a political stance. especially a controversial one
Agreed, a very weird decision.
And yeah, our feeling has always been that in the category of cheap and accessible beers it’s great.
I swear pbr and yuengling are so similar, i cant tell them apart. Thats just me 🤷
At the beer minimum, do the test with PBR from the bottle when comparing.
The beer minimum! ❤️🍺
PBR all day. That amber lager has a bad aftertaste to me.

@@BeerBrackets yes Ballantine’s one of my favorites. I will Pick it up on occasion as it is only sold in sixes, but it is also cheap in price.

Pabst no longer brew their own beer, it's just a trademark name now.

Pabst is definitely towards the bottom of the barrel when it comes the current US macro lagers, there’s no doubt.
