Jack, first off I like your idea of fast timing the sundial into the noonish hour timeframe. Much faster than just waiting for normal time to pass. The Sextant is used on the World Map not the Cluster Map. Also the Sextant will locate your current position on the World Map, it does not locate islands or New Clusters. The note you had about another Cluster said Cluster was to the south. So you would set sail heading South using your Cluster Map and Compass. Eventually you will leave your First Cluster, message on HUD will inform you of this, and when you look at your Map it will default to the World Map view. At this point there is no Cluster Map for you to look at. You now just use the Compass to try and keep yourself heading in a southerly direction. At noon or very near noon each day you can use the Sextant to find your current location on the World Map and hopefully your on a Southerly direction from your First Cluster. With the sailing UI on the Starter mode I believe sailing is easier because you don't drift left or right much with the wind as you would on the other sailing UI modes. I know you watch for the Seagulls in the sky because in the morning they head out away from land to feed and in the evening they head back towards land to sleep. Also while still inside your First Cluster you can always scroll your Cluster Map out all the way to see the World Map. Hopefully this week I can put a video out showing how the Sextant works. I have a Profile for offline gaming and I might use that one for this Sextant tutorial video. I'm surprised I haven't found a video of anyone actually using the Sextant on the World Map yet.
i believe you need to wait untill midday to set the sextant up. At midday aline the top mirror with the sun so you are looking at the horizon and see the image of the sun on (reflecting from the alined mirror) the horizon. It will look like your looking at the horizon with an overlapping image of the sun. (sun should be just touching the horizon) This will give acurate reading while of your position sailing between clusters on the world map.

Not even the thoughts pirates dared to sail to another cluster and post a video about how to use the Sextant. Maybe you will be the first one? 🔥
Yeah I noticed nobody has made a video about it, thx for tips you and Glen have been a real help thank you
Bob, thanks for the explanation. There is a desperate need for someone yo do a proper video about the correct use of the sextant.
