Mors ex Tenebris!!!! 2009 to 2011 were by far the best years of my Marine Corps experience, shared with none other than the Bats. 242 chair repair, heatin' and air at your service.
Hey I was there '10-'12. Frames. You guys busted your asses the whole time I was there. Pretty sure a clip from my refuel video when we went to Guam on that mini-det is used in this. I'm surprised. I just stuck my crummy POS camera in the window of of the KC-130 and hoped for the best.
GREAT video. I am an airplane junkie, and LOVE plane videos. Been working on F/A-18's (EVERY SINGLE MODEL) for over 25 years, and it never gets old. All of that being said, I was a carrier based sailor, and calling this a "cruise" is a long shot. Going to Kadena for a few months IS a deployment, but not a cruise. Sorry for being nitpicky.
no shit... living on the boat, for anyone E6 and below, is so much more miserable than deployment to any base, never mind the work hours. I never saw less than 12 hours every day CV-43 was underway (VF-21, fire control/avionics shop, F-4N and S)plus a watch every fourth. If we were prepping for a missile shoot or doing carquals or workups it was usually 16-18 hour days. Deployment to any shore facility was usually like a vacation, though some variables could change that. If we went to Nellis or Yuma in summer and the aircrews got stupid and turned on their radars on the deck, we got real fucking busy. "we wanted to check to see if the systems were up before takeoff" WELL YA MADE SURE THEY AREN'T NOW.
OOH-RAH SIR, SEMPER FI AND GREAT VIDEO!!! Miss the Corps like crazy! My first duty station was El Toro when it was still open. Was there from 92-late 95 before heading down to 11thMar. Miss sitting by the flight line and watching the 18's take off.
I was with them when the Bats received their very first F-18D in the transition from the Intruders. Our sister squadron was 121 who I see are now flying the F-35's. Damn how the years can fly by.
So you were at El Toro back then. Me too. I flew the C models first with VMFA-314, then later transitioned to the D model in 121. They gave up the "AW" and the Hornet and took the F-35B. The Marines are taking the B and C model 35's. I'm still sad they let El Toro close. That was a great duty station and an awesome area to fly in. Every time we came in over Dana Point at 4000 for our standard programmed radar descent, it was awesome...
I was in 121, I recall the bat's being the joke of miramar, stealing 9 of our jets, and 3 from 225. Then turning around and claimed in the Marine Corps Times that they "worked so hard to get their aircraft ready" for their first combat deployment since Vietnam... Although I will admit, it was a pretty cool video.
One thing so pretty about the F/A-18 is that when there is a camera facing the pilot and he starts doing a high G turn you can see that vapor on the wings.
Great video. Still trying to understand why most people insist that playing alternative rock is better than just listening to air whistling past a canopy, or comms chatter. Still, thanks for uploading.
I love this music.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The whole syntax is wrong. Corrected examples: The F-22 is landing, not taking off, in the background. Open your eyes jackass, it is landing. Based on my observation, the F-22 appears to be landing.
I agree with you, but they usually make these videos for their award banquets and stuff. These videos aren’t generally made for TH-cam. They just get uploaded to TH-cam as an afterthought after they are shown at the intended event.
Hope you don't mind. I downloaded this video and edited it for video of my own. I've been wanting to re-create a similar video to the old training video back in the 80's and 90's at El Toro that had Hells Bells and Radar Love playing through the video (it wasn't really a training video). It might have been made by VMFA 314 or 323. Thanks, hopefully, your OK with it!
Airframes represent! Being in the Bats was totally the greatest part of my career.

My other 2 brothers are in the Air Force. Thank you for all you do behind enemy lines and proving that USAF and Marines are BADASS
Just a superb video. Without the music, it would have been out of this world.

Small world! I live right by El Toro! Wasn't very old when the station was active though, so I don't remember it much :(

if you open your eyes, you can see that's landing
TheLastWTF Gaming I think you are right but I would rather be wrong about that than be illiterate.
English isn't my main language, but please tell me where I'm illiterate...
TheLastWTF Gaming *that it's landing..

Man I miss Kadena!
You should call her, she may still be single. Thank you.
What I like most about being a raptor pilot is the way the plane handles around corners. It's very nice.

Amen to that sir

Well Sir, I on the other hand thought the music was rather kick ass just as the footage was of our boys opening a couple cans of Whoop Ass!
Hope you don't mind. I downloaded this video and edited it for video of my own.
