Lovely to view these old pics of Birkenhead they bring back fond memorys of my childhood and thanks for posting them jayne.
I was born and raised at Bidston Hall farm that my family ran for many decades and there were three working dairy farms in the village up until 1966, when sadly the land was compulsory purchased by the council to build the now Ford estate..Fond memorys indeed..

That's nice Jayne, thank you. The hospital I was born in and the Pacific pub where I frequented in the 80s to listen to the A Team. Happy days.

I don't believe I have seen the aerial photograph "Birkenhead Town Pre WW2" before. There was very little change in the 1950s; except for the gaps in the architecture, kindly provided by the Luftwaffe, which where the inspiration of so many of my childhood adventures. Thank you.

Loved it - seeing the old market and realising how many hotels Birkenhead used to have. Don’t think there are any left now.

There is a new (ish) one by the tunnel and Birkenhead has (pre covid) a thriving Airbnb market

Brilliant 👍 I've always wondered why they've never rebuilt on the old holy trinity church ground...it's been empty since it got demolished.

Yes, I noticed this too. It has a fence around it and I find it hard to believe that a church stood there. It had long gone before I was born. Maybe the church were unwilling to sell the plot

@@jaynephennah53 I remember the gargoyle faces of creatures on the church...I suppose it was to scare away evil spirits...I lived just up the road in Brunswick Court and had to pass the church on my way to school.

Jayne. Being born and brought up in the North End of Birkenhead in the 1960s and 70s, I have always loved your posts, so thank you for taking the time to compile. Do you know where any of the images can be purchased ? Would love to frame and display in my home. Thank you

I borrowed most of the images from the internet or Facebook. I collect lots of them, love them all as I don't remember certain areas. Lots of changes through the years. Sorry I can't be of more help!
