The idea of the final encounter you had was that you only roll and "present" once. You'll win no matter what if the Statue of Liberty was already on 5+. Your dice rolling luck was excellent in this playthrough, but on a bunch of occasions you succeeded at stuff because you were taking a free all-dice re-roll you didn't actually had. I'm pretty sure the game is supposed to involve a lot more "management" and a lot less brute force die rolling. That is, making sure you do encounters that won't cause the Taylor mini to land on a spot that moves the ape, carefully selecting and playing cards to do stuff other than getting dice/re-rolls (pretty sure when you get to take cards as a reward, you can take them from the tableau, but you were just drawing blind)... that kinda thing.

The encounter cards don't indicate re-rolls, they indicate the total number of rolls you can make. So if says "3", that means your roll plus 2 re-rolls.

Overall thoughts on the game? Heard re-playability is a concern.

su park Overall first impressions are pretty positive. I've only played a couple of times, so it's hard to say much about replay issues. Certainly the story elements (basically flavor text on the cards) will grow stale quickly. The replay value will come from the basic mechanics which reminds me a bit of Elder Sign. I enjoy those mechanics, but like Elder Sign it may need expansions to keep it fresh. It's pretty streamlined, which I appreciate, but not terribly innovative.

Did you watch Charlton Heston and Roddy McDowell while playing?
