Godzilla Swapped Contiental Trunk & Bumper Exit Exhaust Fabrication - 7.3L 1965 Lincoln Ep. 10

- Last week we fabricated a full set of custom headers to route our '65 Continental exhaust from our 7.3L Godzilla engine, around our steering shaft, and past our firewall. Now it's time to work our way to the back of the Continental. We have to start first by cutting out the trunk of this 1965 Lincoln because we have something wild planned for the very end of this exhaust run.
Once the trunk is chopped out, we can start working our way from our headers back. We're connecting our band clamps to two massively long Vibrant oval exhaust pipes. These will run the length of the Continental until getting to our differential, where we're using some bent Vibrant oval piping to pop over our rear end and into our trunk area. And that's where the real fun begins.
We have an insane Vibrant muffler that we're throwing right where our spare tire used to be, connecting both sides of our exhaust, and combining them into an exhaust tip that's shooting right through our custom fabricated bumper!
Want to hear how this exhaust sounds? Well so do we! But just like us, you're going to have to wait until this build gets farther along. And the only way to do that is to subscribe. So make sure you don't miss a single part of this 7.3L swapped bagged Lincoln Continental Build!

That’s one restrictive fuel heater you built there lol 😂
Dual 3” into a single 3” outlet…that 7.3 going to be choked up.
Agreed! Two three inch tips coming out of a one 3 inch muffler is Fugazi and Ricer. These dudes are clowns and build SEMA shit, bit drivable shit. With that said, that muffler is WAY back there. Excellent quality though.
I was thinking the same!
But maybe that’s what the customer wants.
Really NOT ideal in my mind.
The stock exhaust is more restricted than this one..
@@colineckel5714 Well, it doesn't have the stock engine either. so that statement is moot. Try again.
Oval exhaust is also restrictive
With as straight-line and linear as the body lines of that rear end is I think a nice wide double walled squared up single outlet Murcielago style tip flush mounted to the pan surface would compliment it a ton more than the round ones that just look out of place among all the strait lines
It's a pleasure watching a skilled craftsman just killin it! Another great video.
Thanks for all the support! We really appreciate the kind words!
Wow looks exotic this reminds me of the super custom exhaust builds guys do for Porsche 911 custom v8 swaps inside. They do exhaust like this to make it sound more exotic
To each their own. This car seems like a very expensive way to get laughed out of every car show.
A lot of head scratching and laughing. I would take pictures to show my friends of ways NOT to build an exhaust......
Absolutely sick artistry right here! I'd love to be able to ride in this beast.
Us too! Now that the exhaust is done we're itching just to get her fired up!
@@SalvagetoSavage Does that mean y'all want me to ride along too?! 🤣
Nickname for this build, Key Lime Pie! That’s a lot of pie cuts in the exhaust, and Dave welded them up perfectly!
A little back pressure never hurt .
See you next week!
Gotta make a sign for his welding area that says "Dave's Pie Shop" or at least get him a name tag that says "Dave the Baker" lol
For a show car the exhaust is definitely unique. The work quality is, as always, and obviously, top notch! If peak performance becomes a priority I think you folks know there would have to be some reconfiguration in that exhaust. Of course with a 7.3 liter that car is going to be plenty powerful. Especially for a show car. I don't think you all will have any trouble roasting the tires, if you want to do that.
We're just trying to do some burnouts once it's all said and done! A bagged continental aint the pinnacle of handling performance! lol
Thats killer craftsmanship. Super hard to get all that stuff right.
Sick ass work!!!!! I love following your builds.
Thank you so much! Hope you're liking the content!
For real! They're definitely a cut above most!
I was really hesitant about the muffler going in the trunk but Dave made it look great! I’m interested now to see how the rest of it goes together.
badass build, you guys are amazing at what you do and wish you lots of continued success
Thank you so much!
well there goes the trunk space 😂 freaking nice fab work as always!!
There goes any chance of moving to NY and doing mobster activities! lol
My savages gm anothe day we are blessed 🔥💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Good morning Luis! Hope you're having a great week!
don't forget to put heat shield on between the gas tank and the exhaust
Excellent content. I like where you are going with the build. One problem tho, I hate when your videos end.....I can watch you guys do your thang all day long. Great job.
Something tells me that exhaust is gonna sound as great as it looks!
lol, next gotta put the turbos/intercoolers in the seats bro!!! 😅
That may just be crazy enough to work!
Awesome work ! One of my favorite cars
Thank you so much! 👍
Awesome craftmanship!
Thank you!
Isnt that exhaust gonna cook that transmission mount youre using? Exhaust gets stupid hot and any kind of rubber is gonna melt
It should be fine. If you look at a majority of exhaust hangars, they pretty much all have rubber isolators/bushings. That mount is also far enough back that the temps shouldn't get hot enough to cook it that much. If it was on the headers, that would be a different story. Worst case scenario though, if it does get too hot back there, we can always switch it out for a more heat resistant isolator!
Does Dave dream of his builds? damn!
His snoring sounds like an N/A Big block! lol
Awesome fab work, you guys are so skilled
The most complicated exhaust I've ever seen, it's pretty bad ass. Definitely won't see one like it.
That was the goal! Thanks for the support!!
That exhaust is a piece of art screw a Van Gogh painting.
There is a huge difference between doing your job and loving your job... You guys love what you do and it shows on ever single build. Always enjoy every video. Keep doing what you're doing.
Hey where is the kid? Khalil, if that's how his name is spelled...😅
He left the shop to chase some dreams! He's doing well though. Thank you for asking about him!
You guys do awesome work, keep up the hard work!
Thanks so much!
My new favorite channel!!!!🔥🔥🔥
Welcome!! Hope you like the builds!
very nice exhaust tip, great.
Awesome work !
lol "how to MAKE SURE my wife doesn't turn my car into a grocery getter" idk about having all of that in the trunk but definitely have a very talented team.
If she does use it as a grocery getter, at least it will all be cooked by the time the car ride home is over!
@@SalvagetoSavage 🤣 fresh cookies at a 1/4 mile
Another cool looking exhaust!
Your skills are second to none love it brother . Peace.
Thanks for the support! We really appreciate it!
Except for shops like Mobsteel, Devious Customs, Dave Kindig ect ect ect
Was doing so good and screwed it all up with the exhaust.
yah its all screwed up now
Crazy fun exhaust. Love the insanity. S2S FTW.
yep! It's a crazy exhaust! best all over the east coast))))
Thank you so much!
I had a rear motor car. Kinda like a c8 if you think about it. Olds toro motor/trans. I had a single muffler. Dual in/dual outlet. Took about 1 hr to install.
Awesome!
I don't get it but bravo on the fabrication.
That exhaust looks great, aesthetically, but is it still going to be isolated from the cabin? What is the likelihood of the fumes leaking into the cabin?
We're going to be closing the cab up. But we'll also be keep the trunk relatively open and have a ton of air flow going through there
Thanks again
Always welcome!
Holy cow i absolutely love this build. Id do the exhaust exit different lol but that doesn't mean a damn thing. I love it. Great job!!!
Dave God Bless ur hands an mind 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽incredible Craftsmanship 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Watching you do all this work was really........... exhausting. 😁😁
I can’t wait to hear that puppy roar!!😇
cant wait to hear it ...
Same here!
Who came with the exhaust in the trunk idea? That's killer.
We got rid of the spare tire and figured something had to go back there!
Letssss gooooo
This is awesome!
Man that's got to be a $50K exhaust system like 200 man hours of labor plus all Vibrant stainless
Are those exhaust tips not going to rattle like crazy against the recessed box they pass through? Not much clearance there...
That is so sick!!! Dave id doing a killer job, Speaking of Dave whats going on with his Benz in the background?!?!?!
Craziest idea I've seen in a while. Obviously this was mostly done for looks, as you could easily have mounted a f-body cross flow muffler under the floorpan and had two tips enter the back of the trunk and out the rear panel. Question: Why build a crossover x pipe when you have a cross flow muffler? Looks, again? Question #2: The outlet on the mufler is only 3" diam. Wouldn't you have saved money and space by running two 2.5" exhaust pipes instead of that expensive oval 3.5x2.5 oval stuff? Again, looks?
You have got double X pipes (the exhausts meeting twice), curious, it will be interesting to hear how it sounds.
💪👊👏
Just asking out of curiosity. Is it risky when the exhaust is that close to the fuel tank or is it alright? Is it similar in all cars? don't know for sure.
There's going to be some paneling in the trunk separating the tank and muffler some more, but there's also going to be airflow in that trunk keeping the exhaust area cool. It's going to be relatively the same as a normal car. The exhaust usually sit pretty close to the tanks but the difference is, we have a nice aluminum tank from Devious Customs!
Clean your lenses! Also great work guys 🙌🏼
Our editor has been trying to get us to keep the GoPro lenses away from the MIG splatter and sparks from the cutoff wheel for the past two years. They are unfortunately as clean as they get until they get changed out in the spring! lol
That car is gonna be sweet! What's the reasoning for the x-pipe before they come together in the muffler? Doesn't the muffler do the job of an x-pipe? Also that Godzilla motor might need more than just a single 3" outlet from the muffler. Dual 3" all the way back to a single 3" at the very last 10" of exhaust seems like it would be a bit restrictive at the very end. Couldn't you just make dual 3" outlets from the muffler to keep it opened up? Looks wise it'd be the same at the exit.
The plan/goal was to build an exhaust you’d see in a super car. I think we accomplished that.
You guys do Good work! aaand all that was done in 25 minutes too! Woo! haha. Where's Andrew? Does he still work there? What's with all the snot on the inside of the rear lower cross member/ lower rear trunk? Is that old bad welds or caulking?
Andrew is currently working on getting the chevelle all wired up! And all that is old bondo and epoxy sealant. We'll be cleaning that up once and for all once the fabrication is all done!
Too many pie cuts ! And no flex pipes up front?
Wont there be some vibration from solid mounted exhaust?
👍🏼👍🏼
You guys do beautiful work, but I cant tell you how sad it makes me that the customer doesnt like the cool original lights one this thing.
Work of art…. But looks restrictive
No tape was hurt in the making of this film.
Is that the exhaust wrapped around the fuel tank?
not thinking I would want to lose my trunk to gain a exhaust in it?
You are not afraid that even a tiny leakage on the exaust system come in too the car wile driving????
The trunk will have air flow and be separated from the rest of the car
I love the projects you do, and I've seen enough now to wonder whether there is such a thing as an automated pipe bender for stainless steel exhaust tube. I've seen pipe benders at work but mostly for stuff like roll cages and other structural supports. I've also seen pipe benders at work in various muffler shops, but I doubt they bend stainless steel. Maybe I'm wrong - but you guys spend so much time with all the pie cuts and the welding and the grinding and the polishing I can't imagine why you don't have such a machine in your shop... other than the cost being prohibitive. Seriously, though, I bet you'd recoup the cost pretty quickly wouldn't you? Just curious.
Watching further... I wonder how hot it's going to get in that trunk? Will you need a heat shield? or will you have to give up on the idea of keeping ice cold beer back there? lol
Cold beer would definitely be a no go back there! In terms of bending our own pipes, the reason we use the Vibrant stuff is that they have a pretty high end mandrel bender that makes sure that even throughout the bend, the inner diameter of the material doesn't get crushed down. What would happen if we tried doing it ourselves, which is what you end up seeing with a lot of lower end exhaust pipe parts, is that the pipe would start crushing inward where we're making our bend which is not good for air flow
That car is going to weigh 8000 lbs by the time that "swap" is "done". Which will be long before its "complete".
Make sure when you finish building your continental you weigh it so we see how much our shoulda weighed and how long it should have taken!
Great job. But, why not just run the pipes directly into the muffler and eliminate the x-pipe portion? It just seems unnecessary and it takes away a lot of the trunk space.
I'd be pissed if this was my car. You wasted my whole trunk for a freaking muffler? Hell nah. You would be redoing that shlt on your dime. Big block with a single muffler with a single out, with dual tips? Yeah, that's not even smart. This is the biggest waste of money shop on TH-cam. It's people actually pay for work coming out of here, then they deserve what they are getting
Just out of curiosity, exactly what would one put in the trunk of this style of car? Luggage for when they leave it at the airport for a few days? Fresh produce from the farmers market?
@@bedtimestorey3162 its a car. Are you saying they destroyed it so bad that it is unusable now? Because I would agree with that. Its a car with a trunk, it should be usable. You should be able to go to the store with it. Hell even TV cars are more sensible and usable then this. They ruined it so bad that it is now just a show car. Thanks for agreeing with me on that Dave Kindig builds $500k show cars that are pristine top and bottom, and they are designed in a way to be driven and used almost as a daily driver. The trunk would have $10k with of leather and design but it would still be a usable trunk. There are real builders out there and then there's hacks. This would be a hack job for views and clicks but it won't get either, which is even worse
@@cliff4695 By that logic food should only be cooked 1 way and it should only be done by Gordon Ramsay. Your unconstructive criticism isn't warranted here.
hey Cliff, first off this is exactly what was discussed with the customer that is paying for us to build the car. With that said its not your car, and most def. not you problem. the owner has like 10 other cars so if he needs trunk space he will jump in his MegaRapptor have a great day and thanks for watching our videos you enjoy so much. @@cliff4695
Thats a very kind way to say it, I had a few other words for cliff but ill choose the high road @@bedtimestorey3162
It's different, it's classy, but it really ain't practical. 😂 How are you going to fit twelve full size golf bags in the trunk now?
What we're hearing you say is, we should weld a roof rack on the top of this thing! lol
All thats left is the 220v for the Dryer! wait...
What about thermal expansion? That length pipe will expand 3/4-1” at 500F…Nice workmanship, but why?
has anyone noticed that the diff pumpkin notch in the gas tank is facing the rear of the car and not the axle housing? umm so they chopped up the 4 links instead of getting the correct gas tank?
This is a terrible design. All the heat from the exhaust captured in the car. No space to carry anything at all. I am not impressed at all. What on earth possessed you to think this is a good idea from any angle?
Craftsmanship is executed well. But....the exhaust is goofy, and the tips and bezel just don't match up to the car. The car is classy and boxy. Triangle nothing belongs on it. I feel like the customer has bad taste.
When practicality is not in the equation
If we were going for practical we woulda left it all stock!
@@SalvagetoSavage You have a Lincoln Continental with NO Trunk space. I’d say that’s a little more than impractical.
oh Jesus! if you know us and our builds practically is never our main focus. Lets not all worry to much about this guys truck space, after all he isn't @@Jeezey
Turning a Lincoln into a Lambo has got me wondering whats up with the vehicle owner on this ride... Confused thus far but perhaps I don't quite have the overall vision yet.
putting in a big ass motor, then choking the fuck out of it with a overly elaborate exhaust.🤔 🤬
How un-useable do you want your trunk?
Customer-Yes!
H and X pipes dont make as much power as true dual. Additionally they cause harmonic issues which can and do affect the valves. And what you did here is have 2 X pipes which is twice the issues and most likely more.
Are y'all sure Dave isn't Indian Larry's son 🤔😂 I see some similarities lol
Fab work is top notch as always!
For me, the design misses the mark. Seems overly complicated for the sake of it, poor flow, you lose the boot, probably heat the fuel tank etc
Exhaust Anaconda Extrem 😮
i personnaly dont like what you did in the trunk cutting the trunk was not a good thing or smart thing to do you loose trunk space and cut an old american made car where is what not a need ....
But if we didn't cut out the trunk then we couldn't fit the exhaust back there
The most sensless, unsafe and waaaaaaay overworked system I`ve ever seen done. Thinking outside of the box is cool, this isn`t. Lose an entire trunk for a muffler? Where`s the carbon monoxide alarm going? Clicks are clicks I reckon.
The truck is open and vented with airflow and the cab of the car will be sealed off the same way we build out a sealed firewall in the back. The exhaust exits out off the bumper so the only unsafe part about it would be if you decide to stick your hand on it after it's been running
@@SalvagetoSavageever heard a flowmaster under a c10 bed? This will be the loudest drum on the planet. And ,,,,you`ll be sitting in it.

We got a little project going on in the background! It'll be about a month before we show y'all that one. We got the final touches on the Supercharged C10 coming out, an update on the Chevelle and then we'll be unveiling the LS Merc!
The grill and now the exhaust..You guys are better than this..both are obnoxious.. I understand it probably customer preference..But yikes..
Great craftmanship, but you lost me on this exhaust. I don't understand the point of taking up the trunk. Wrap those pipes or put in a shield so you don't boil your gas.
Awesome fab work, but this has to be one of the dumbest ideas I have ever seen, even for a SEMA show car, and they do some stupid stuff. Putting the exhaust in the trunk, so close to the fuel tank, I mean, seriously? Moving the muffler in the trunk and making your exhaust pipe the lowest point of the car is just stupid. I just can't get on board with this. Sorry. Your spacing for the headers in the engine bay and under the car are WAY too small. Is this the first car you have ever built? I can assure you this whole exhaust run will bang and clang around as it drives down the road.
Thank you!
.
This is dumb
Thanks!
If you have to cut out the trunk on a classic like that, you're doing something wrong...😢👎
Nope!
Ugly waste of pipe and space. Disappointed.
