For me the problem happened, as i bought the phone outside india, and registered for a mi account with an international number. When i relocated back to india I changed my number, but in my phone it said that my account is registered with the old number. This might be the same reason for your problem

Hello, i found a fix to your problem. But beware that "ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST". th-cam.com/video/qbHQ60VM1NA/w-d-xo.html try following the steps in this video. Note that i have not tried this method myself, but this video looks pretty legit. once again remember THIS WILL FACTORY RESET YOUR PHONE AND YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR DATA
