One question: For such a strong script, why was Bob Gale pretty much ignored by Hollywood after this.

It's a good question. I'm not sure of the ins and outs but maybe Hollywood thought without Zemeckis he couldn't do it. Would be interesting to hear Gale's thoughts on it.
