Well done Jon you did great and your dad is such a good teacher full of advice and nurturing as well like the lads I worked with at Mercedes I remember those oil suckers well Mercedes have had them for years and the oil filter looked a micro version of a Merc one! Took me back many years! Your enthusiasm will help you learn and develop your skills keep up good work Daniel

Cat litter for oil spills, works a treat. Nice to see your old fella checking for the forbidden glitter too... Don't prime oil filters.. that's an easy way to introduce foreign bodies past the filter 😁👍

Jon, this is an easy enough job for you to be starting off with. The only thing I'd do differently is to check the oil level before starting the engine. It isn't strictly necessary to replace the sump plug unless it is damaged or otherwise unable to seal properly. 25Nm seems to be the default torque setting for those plastic oil filter housings.

Getting rid of oil stains; make some paste of washing powder and a wee bit of water. Apply it to the stains. Rub it gently and let it dry and ideally get wet with rain after it. Next time please don’t stick the brush into the filter aperature after you’ve brushed the outside. Cleanliness is key.😊

Great job, Very satisfying job. I am not keen on those plastic oil filter casings, your Proton’s will be far easier, with bullet proof metal canister type filter. I saw a YT Vid of a Honda jazz oil change, they ‘ tried ‘ to drain it into a carrier bag, I kid you not, failed miserably

No 450 left the factory with a sump plug, all were designed for suction oil changes - some of the sumps with plugs are rubbish quality, yours looks ok. And I'd be changing the oil at 6 months, 5k rather than the year.

I had that Omicron version of Covid , Not been jabbed against Covid but weird thing is i never seem to get it as bad as my Uncle who has all 3 jabs ? anyway the most disgusting part of Covid is the green stuff from the nose , Like something out of a horror movie haha , Hope you recover from it too soon Jon , Also i think some mechanics take the mickey as my local one wants £110 to do an oil and filter change but 5 litres of oil like like £30 and a filter is £7 so how can they defend charging £73 labour for a job that takes like 30 minutes at most ?
