Hello Everyone! This video is part of a greater series "Muslims in the USA." For those that have been following the full series, I would like to say that I wish I got more Sunni Muslims on camera. Dearborn, MI, where I spent most of my time is mostly Shia. Next video I'll be in Hamtramck, MI which is primarily Sunni. I tried to get many different angles of Islam and I know to do it right it would take me dozens of videos. Enjoy and see you next week!

The younger Imam is exceptionally gentle and wise, in his thought process. An excellent vehicle to deliver the critical message that Islam is not extremism. I spent 20 years surrounded by Muslims and Peter's opinion that there is no more welcoming and hospitable culture and peoples. They will take the shirt off of their back to ensure that you are warm, without hesitation they will feed and help you in whatever way they can.

@@shahzaibsansi7848 Thank you my brother, I truly appreciate that.. It's not so much that I have questions. It's mostly just a blessing to have an insight into what the majority/everyday Muslim life is like, and practice of religion.. Also I loved what the son had to say about how we are all part of the same religion, growing up with a somewhat Christian Foundation it was really nice to hear that, especially because I have not heard that from my own pastor's, which to me is sad.. It's not so much that I was raised not to love a specific person/ideology, but one can't help sometimes adopting preceptions of another, that you absorbed in day-to-day life that are completely false..
Everything that I have seen so far shows me that it is a beautiful religion, and way of life.. Plus it is so sad to see how a few bad apples, can suppress the truth so well..

I feel that Shias being a minority in all muslim countries except Iran and Azerbaijan are somewhat more flexible and open to differences of opinions and beliefs. Of course, this doesn't extend to Shias in Iran where being a strong majority allows them to go down hard on all religious dissenters. Being a majority tends to make bullies of people.

    • @lucifer9880

Even in iran, were the majority are shia, they are more tolerant and open than people from other sects. And even historically we are different. For example, we do not legitimize any "so-called muslim empire" like ummayids, ottomans etc..", and we condemn every actions they ever made. We were even slaughtered and massacred for the last 14 hundred years, by the sect that has been in control over the muslim world. @@sir_humpy it was indeed a major change in terms of freedoms. However, it is what the majority of Iranians want. I would add that it is more of a system, than it is of a religion when speaking of the Iranian regime. For example, many Iranians want the regime, but wish for it to be more liberal. So its about the regime not the sect itself.

@@vijaymenon5738 I love when folks post these verses as stand alone but ignore the context before and After these verses and what took place during that time.
Muslims paid zakat every week. They paid Saadakah as well mandated service in the military when drafted. Muslims had to give away goods they haven’t used in one year to the needy. Non Muslims living under the protection of Muslims Sultanate did NOT have to serve. They could volunteer if they like and many Sultanate had Jewish Generals. 1 even had a Jewish a Vazir which is a very powerful rule. Like a Being head of the state department. None Muslims held their own courts. No one stopping them from drinking, eating pork, and living their lives. We didn’t force convert folks historically but we did incentivize it by freeing them early from war bonds if they teach 10 people to read. Military promotions were faster naturally, and those looking to marry none Muslim women if they wanted.
The events of the verse have direct historical context to several peace treaties routinely broken. Not everyone broke those treaties many Jewish and Christian tribes kept their word and they were fine. Many pagan Arabs couldn’t be trusted no further than you could throw them. Just constantly back stabbing when ever they could. Proof of which is what happened to Muhammad grandsons and their families. Proof more is what happened to the 1st 4 leaders once Muhammad pbuh died.
This is why these post fall short and Muslims are better than most at history of all faiths because the culture built in reading more than just a random verse here and there. So many of you have a very limited understanding of your own biblical history and even weaker with Islam

Yes but what about those that know that Christ has risen and that he is Lord, how could they ever accept that Islam teaches he’s only a prophet and is buried in the ground somewhere, they lie about the Lord divinity , anyone that openly denies the Lord the Lord will denied him as well. So it’s not necessarily about those who believe in Christ respecting Muslims it’s more Muslim should respect the fact that Christ has risen and christians don’t believe in the last prophet being Muhammad. Some people don’t believe that Islam is an extension of Christianity and that they were going to bring about the real alpha and omega. Christians are waiting for the antichrist to come first and then our Lord will come…

1 - Aisha is the mother of all believers - Shia and Sunni.
2 - No Muslim male could, her being the mother of all Muslims, therefore marry her after the passing of the Prophet (saw). Since when did men marry their mothers?
3 - The title 'mother of the believers' does not therefore, in itself, make her good or bad.
4 - There are mothers who will go to heaven. There are mothers who will go to hell.
5 - Forget what the Shia say or do not say about Aisha. More important is what Allah (swt) says about her and Hafsa: Surah 66, verses 3-5. Direct and scathing criticism of her and Hafsa.
6 - Sunni Islam is imo The Cult of the Companions. But surely even a Sunni will ignore their cult tendencies and give priority to the words of Allah (swt)? Then again, I have yet to meet one such Sunni.

Extremism in any context and culture are indicators of a systemic problem within society (as we have seen here in the US) -- religion, tribalism/politics are sadly often used, or rather abused, and conflated to rally and promote extremist sentiments and does not reflect the actual faith.

There are no good nor bad Muslims. The entire religion is extreme and unsuited to the twenty-first century. In their Koran, Muslims are instructed to act politely when they are the minority, and this is exactly what we observe in this interview. To call it a religion would be a grave understatement. What Islam represents and what everyone needs to know. It is a militia cult philosophy that, to name a few things, encourages bigotry, supremacism, the exploitation of women and children, the restriction of free thought, servitude, and living off of others. Islam's past is marred by violence, extortion, enslavement, conflict, pillage, and devastation, all of which persist today.

As an Eastern European, I can agree with the Imam that in certain parts of Europe it may seem hard to be openly Muslim. For example, I come from Poland, where the general opinion on Muslims is bad and Islam is rather misunderstood. However, most people would be polite if they meet a Muslim or become friends with one, but they would often say something like "you're one of the normal ones", meaning that "if you're my friend, you're fine, but I still don't trust other Muslims". It's very much based on being scared of the unknown, but I think it also comes from the fact that in post-communist countries some older people can still have this idea of distrust towards people, who they don't know personally. Kind of like the tribal, "us and them" mentality. So I believe that younger generations are more tolerant, but in general it might be hard to feel fully accepted in Europe. Interestingly, there are native Muslims in Poland, called Tatars, but even they have experienced islamophobia in the recent years. Someone painted a pig, which is an animal forbidden to eat in Islam, on their very old and beautiful mosque.

The war also doesn't explain why there's sudden slamophobia towards the Tatars who are completely Polish, and have been in Poland since 1600 or even earlier. And I don't believe that an elderly lady went out there and spray painted a pig on a mosque.

@@frankkatsenis3812 I reckon this video was created specially for ignorant non-Muslims like you. Whats is the big fuss it has not been sharia is not being forced upon you, the Jews have their mosaic law from the Old Testament , which is actually more significantly violent that the sharia law. If you took your time to read or converse with Muslims you’d not only know what JIZYA is but it’s purpose. In a land where Sharia Law is implemented, a form of tax is paid by non-Muslims called Jizya (as you know). Interestingly Women whether Christian/Jew, children, elders, disabled, the insane, monks, visitors, poor, military men, or hermits are all EXEMPTED from paying Jizya. The ONLY people that pays are able bodied men. Before you start complaining “oh that’s unfair that non Muslims must pay”, did you know Muslims pay too, it’s called ZAKAT. Zakat is a broad term it doesn’t only refer to 1of 5 pillars of Islam, which is pay 2.5% of annual wage, if there’s an Islamic state muslims MUST also pay a percentage to the government just like the non Muslims (Jizya) as it is a religious obligation unlike Jizya isn’t for the non Muslims, so in order to make it even between both parties non Muslims must pay Jizya just like the Muslims are paying ZAKAT. Both parties must pay not, just 1. If a Muslim refuses they could go to jail. Why do they pay? Just like taxes today the gov uses the money to fund services just like healthcare, or military protection or education. It would be unfair if Muslims are the ones paying and then non Muslims are in Islamic states enjoying the bounties, the Muslims would be at a disadvantage not the non Muslims like you make it seem. The money collected is also used for old age pension, funding for the disabled, and to the very poor to stop them from begging. Plus the Antichrist is called the anti CHRIST not anti MUHAMMED air anti MOSES, there a reason why he has to come not the Prophet Muhammad, in case you didn’t know Muslims believe in Jesus, his second coming and love him more than our parents. You can’t disprove Muhammad in aim that you make Jesus look good, cause we believe in both EQUALLY, you could pull it off with Jews or Hindus cause they don’t believe in Jesus.

They also rewrote the Old Testament. They know all those stories by other names. Same stories altered slightly in some cases. I on the other hand, have read the Koran as well. I was taught about the other great religions of the world. In RC school when I was very young and taught to be appreciative of other religions as well as culture’s.
But my Muslim friends have no desire to learn what we believe in. To understand our differences all sides must be willing to learn…

Isn't that a tribal division for you? The whole nation is divided on the principle of who belongs to which tribe and ideology? The entire Western socio-political system is based on the tribal principle! Just look at the tribal loyalty and and the sense of belonging between leftists and rightists, between socialists and capitalists, etc. The problem in the world is that people have no knowledge of the things they talk about and make decisions about!

The term "Allah" is the Arabic word for God and is used by Arabic-speaking Christians, Muslims, and even Arabic-speaking Jews.

A humble request to all Muslims in comments!!!!
Can we please Focus on the message that imam is giving rather than pointing out wether he is shia or sunni
I GUESS THIS IS HIGH TIME WE AS MUSLIMS SHOULD GET OUT OF SECTARIAN DEBATES AND HATE

Not gonna sugar coat my faith,,,that's not how the prophet Muhammad prayed..
قال صلى اللّه عليه و سلم (صلوا كما رأيتموني اصلي)
And that's the least I can say about the video

Quran (9:29): “Fight against Christians and Jews until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.”
Quran (5:51): “Don’t take Jews or Christians for friends. If you do, then Allah will consider you to be one of them.”
Quran (2:65-66): “Christians and Jews must believe what Allah has revealed to Muhammad or Allah will disfigure their faces or turn them into apes, as he did the Sabbath-breakers.”
Quran (5:51): “O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.”
Quran (9:30): "And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!"
