- This is now my favorite @AnnenMayKantereit song. By far. No contest. It was good to the point that I had to grab my guitar in the middle of the reaction...

At the beginning he said: "we have thought of something, uhm. We wrote a new song and wanted to not play it on the stage but somewhere...here."
Henning is 6 ft 1 how tall is Sevein? I'd say at least 6'4"
the irony is amazing ^^
It's so beautiful how in the end Henning sings "ich will einen Ozean" (I want an ocean) and the lights of the crowd are billowing just like the waves of an ocean 💙
The "Her" in this song isn't actually refering to a woman but the past. In german the word for past has a female pronoun (Die Vergangenheit). So he's talking about how he thought he left his past behind but it keeps haunting & hurting him so he wants to get away from it.
You need to see “ Henning’s version” .. outside, on a balcony at night.. Henning, his guitar and his voice.. absolutely amazing
I agree. I love both versions so much

@@walterooski :) that was fast
This band is a pretty darn good reason to learn German. Great reaction!
Plenty more of reason but a good one indeed
@@peterpaul5820 Ich bin sicher, dass es viele Gründe gibt. Es ist eine wunderbare Sprache.
I Google translated that, by the way. I wish I could speak German, but alas, I cannot. 🙂
The "her" in the beginning may be a person, but "the past" (die Vergangenheit) in the refrain is a female noun in german, so you can refer the "her" that he wants to distance from to the past he wants to forget because it hurts to remember...
I definitely think it refers to the past, because he sings about the past and the lyrics make more sense that way. German translates to English a bit poorly and the translations don't seem to match.
@@suvijii841I actually love the ambiguity, that one does not know 100% what is meant.... Henning plays a lot in his lyrics whith language like that and it makes it deeper somehow, for me anyway (and often cannot be fully translated)
You're so right about Henning playing with doubles senses of words, but here for me "sie" is not 'she' but 'it' (the past) because of the verbe einholen /eingeholt, that matches usually with Vergangenheit...
How you picked up on the tune was really impressive! Love your amk reactions, its awesome to re-experience their music for the first time though some one else again! 😊
Music is my whole world… Listening to music was how I learned to play in the first place. I got lucky when God picked my ears I suppose.
Thank you so much for your kindness! ❤️🖖
This song got me through so many nights of insomnia during the pandemic and after. During that time it was particularly hard at work and I was filled with anxiety. I turned to this song and it calmed me.
It is especially poetic if you understand German, like I do. You get struck by the words and everything.
Thanks for reacting !
It is so nice to watch your new reactions to AMK. I would love to hear you singing this song in German, your pronunciation of the German words is really good for someone who doesn't speak German. There is another version of this song - Henning only on a balcony - you will like it for sure. ❤
That's my favorite version of this song ❤

Just so you know, my AMK love is all your fault and I'm so thankful for it. To anybody else reading this comment, let it be known that @schuhschrank947 is the reason I ever listened to AMK in the first place.
@@walterooski If I hadn't suggested them to you, someone else would have.
But I'm glad you found them and are enjoying their music.
Thank you schuhschrank :) Die vielleicht beste Empfehlung aller Empfehlungen.
@@sirluis5043 To be honest, I like AMK, but I suggested Tom's Diner because of Giant Rooks. It is their music I love!
Thanks soooooooo much for introducing me to this brilliant band!!!! I cant understand a word but the music speaks to me anyway. And that singer's voice is pure honey🔥.
I'm sorry you went through such heart ache, hope things are looking up for you now🫶
You are on an AMK roll🎉🎉🎉🎉and I love it! Saw AMK in Koln last year and AMK and sound was amazing. Best night of my life❤. Thanks for sharing.
I've been there and it was emotional and amazing.... I felt flat for weeks after and was longing for another night like that x
Pure Muttersehnsucht! Craving for motherly hold. That's what I hear. In tears 😢 great song, great reaction! ❤
Thank you so much for reacting on Ozean! One of my fav songs from AMK! Im living in Cologne, the hometown of AMK and was on so many concerts of the guys! Thank you again, love your reactions! ❤
I would give you a second thumbs up just for your own "ich will einen Ozean" with your guitar.
❤❤❤
Great reaction. Glad you connected so strongly to it. I don’t speak German, but love AMK’s music regardless. When I see & hear the translations, it’s just deepens my love and respect for the band and their music. Love and respect to you as well, Walter.
I've never wanted to learn a language or like a foreign 🎶 until I heard AMK AND GIANT ROOKS. Crazy part is I'm a jazz and blues person
Thank you for reacting to that ❤
Walter, it is time to react to their track "tommy -live in cologne"! You will love it
I second that, it is a beautiful loveletter to the city and the people
very kind and grateful reaction, and what a very nice person you are!
If you like AnnenMayKantereit and their emotional songs, you should definitely listen to "Der Weg" by Herbert Grönemeyer. A beautiful black and white recording of a live performance can be found on TH-cam, which also has well-translated English subtitles. Herbert Grönemeyer is one of the best lyricists in the German pop/pop-rock landscape and a great musician to boot!
the moment you take the guitar and told your story.... this is your song.
I found this band many years ago, and than forgot about them. Recently I've rediscovered them and came across your channel listening to them. I love your attitude towards them!! They really do transcend the language barrier! Also this is easily my favorite song by them. They also have a Henning solo version you should check out. It's just him on a balcony with a guitar. The emotion in that version is heartbreaking.
th-cam.com/video/MHoZRWSjBWs/w-d-xo.html
at the beginning henning says: „um, so we wrote a new song and thought we‘d like to not play that one on stage but … here!“
I was at that concert and i can tell you it was amazing! can´t wait to see them again
I'm so jealous!
I really love their music, Ozean --> really touching in Henning Mays solo version, one of their most bluesy (?) songs is "James" Live in Berlin. Go for "Lass es kreisen" live in Berlin, it's very uplifting. Your reactions are very touching, thanks for that.
'Lass es kreisen'

Sooo amazing!!!
Best song of the new album for me❤

Wonderful reaction video. Thank you very much!
I'm binging your AMG reactions and I'm having so much fun: to see your facial expressions and getting blown away and getting touched and to also see your musical knowledge! Thank you so much! I will for sure watch your reactions to other bands as well.
Other great songs are "Du bist anders, "Wohin du gehst" "Mir wär lieber, du weinst" and "Schon krass" 🤗
They are even better on stage!
Awesome reactions! Instant abo :-). Greetings from Germany Daniel
I was at this concert, Ozean has been my favorite AMK song ever since then.
„Well we have written a new song. And we guess we want to perform it somewhere else- here“
Iam german and a big AMK fan. I really like your reactions to their songs and how you feel about the songs musically and lyrically, even though you arent german. But great respect for how well you pronounce the german words.
Walt, just love from München. ❤️
Try out Ozean Hennings Version and the Cover of Valerie .
I just found the Valerie cover a few days ago, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite covers.

Thank you for reacting to AMK songs. You are doing really well! Maybe you like "Schon Krass" or "Sieben Jahre" by them.
Another great german band is Kettcar, check out Deiche or Graceland.
First time I have listen to you , and thank you for your thoughts . I haven’t known how to put in words how I feel About this band . I have to start listening to your channel.
I love Lass es kreisen. Please check it out.
Nice you've picked up the guitar!
It is a simple arangement because they needed space for all the emotions ;)
Best description.
thanks, this is a true reaction video. 👍
This is one of my favorites, because of the lyrics. Trying to run away from your past, travel so far that you don't see the familiar places anymore. But even the sea is not enough, you need an ocean.. and even that may not be enough. Henning often sings about the sea. But I have to say: his solo version of this is MILES better. You have to try it!!!!
And hey, this song is the first of their songs I also started to practice with a guitar. Like I said, my favorite one, too.
One little detail that slipped your attention: It is not said explicitly that this is the effect of a romantic relationship.
Vergangenheit (past) is of female gender in german, so the words in the first verse might just relate to to his relationship to his past, not to a partner.
For me, that makes it relatable to more people, because you can get to a point like this a myriad of ways.
Omg you are Amazing
I loved you playing and singing in the end ❤❤❤
I’m honored!
I love this reaction
They wrote a lovesong to their hometown cologne. You can feel the heart they put in it. So cute❤

He maybe talks about a woman at first, but „she“ can refer to the past, too.
Wow! You on the guitar!!!
Isn’t a sea the same as a lake? Here it’s the sea- the Ocean /ozean
No, it's Meer = Sea, Ozean = Ocean, See = lake.
You do it beautifuly
I Love it !!! Enyoy !! :-)
Music is such a beautiful thing and if one can relate to it is very powerful❤
I love these songs as well by AMK
-Nur wegen dir
-Schlagschatten
-Es ist Abend und wir sitzen bei dir
I wish you an interesting week...Best wishes 😊
Henning May is not his real name, in real life he has the surname of his mother who was not married to his dad, but he chose the name of his father (May) as an artist name, so the father's name is on the stage and in public.
I think that and the lyrics about his past (his mam) gives us a deep look in his soul...
I think this song refers to the fact that his mum left his dad, his borther and him when he was a child.
i thank u
Hey your voice in German is really nice 🤯
Yeah, that's my favorite too.❤❤❤
No one has ever asked me this kind to leave a like
I think he is talking about his mother. I read that she left his father, him and his brother when he was quite young. That's just my guess.
yeah learn it at give us an bonfire version with you singing german... pls xD
If you like AMK, you could like german-language singer-songwriter-stuff.
Here are two examples:
Steiner & Madlaina - Denk' was du willst or das schöne Leben
Maxim - Meine Soldaten
Lyrics hit hard on those, too btw.
... i still waiting for your interpretation ;)
ab 8:30 ja du hast es , du fühlst es
This is one of my all-time favorite songs! There is a Henning Version as well. You might check it out just for yourself.
I'm looking forward to see and hear you sing that masterpiece. 😘

I learned a new English word: nosebleed section. Had to google it because I thought I misheard :)
I’m glad somebody got to learn something from watching me for once! I feel so lucky having so many German teachers 😂
Hahahah you could start german on duolingo for free :D My Ex Gf from South Carolina did that. German must be frustrating to learn because there are sooooo many grammar rules. As a german I can assure you though that there are people living in Germany for 20 years+ and they break stupid rules the whole damn time and a lot of germans do to and everybody will still understand you perfectly fine. Especially the der/die/das which is our thing of the word "the" and other thigns. Dont worry about it. Everybody will know what you mean if you mess up grammar. German is known to be a language for poetry because you can make sense with words or neologisms even and people know what the feeling behind the word is or what the story telling is. For understanding german and speaking it it can be quite eays even just the whole grammar thing is hard. Examples for german words that are just put togetehr and make perfect sense are foudn everywhere and even made it to the english language. Like Zeitgeist or Kindergarten for example. Long german words are also msotly just short words that are put into a line. :D
Then you should listen to this German band: Electric Callboy - Spaceman th-cam.com/video/Xx1uLMvsmvk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hcaP01uvyTo0AKIi
