Imagine a remastered with high end graphics but same gamedata. Maybe just a few improvements in combat and ai, but all of the insane plot, Storytelling and voiceactors.... This would be a dream coming true

    Ooh let me try
SF1, The Order of Dawn! speedrun description
    1. You watch the fanastic cutscene, then realize that the number of epic battles between Human and Orc armies is sadly lacking.
    2. You play the prologue your first time. Then you try to never play it agai.
    3. You get to play your actual character! Good luck finding the OP playstyles
    4. As you travel you realize there is a second omega mage! You need to warn the good omega mage.
    5. The pursuit of the good mage. Along the way you rescue various peoples from their troubls, murder a spider man murderer, farm orcs and goblins, and run into the first blades.
    6. You find the omega mage, but the evil omega mage kills him.
    7. Now to find mask shards for a dead omega mage (who isn't dead because he's a necromancer).
    8. You want to get the undead? This is how you get the undead.
8.1 Time for the Dwarves. Discover vanilla Windholme is underwhelming. Cry.
8.2 Get the punk ass guy to man up and fight the power
    9. Seriously, so may Undead.
    10. You get the mask shards and give them to the dead omega mage; he tells you where to find the Omega-Ultra Magic Stone. In Mulandir...
    11. Time for the Godwall, aka Towerwall. there's a mage ass present, and he has WOLVES...actually just mercenary humans. Also you discover the Red Legion, they're pretty cool.
    12. Mulandir time. Good luck with the gargoyles and medusae.
    13. Eventually get through the bs, and discover your path blocked by a mysterious 'Guardian.'
    14. The guardian tells you to fetch shards. Did you remember the teleport stone near him? You better.
    15. Escape Mulandir, into either the warzone level or the demon hell level.
    16. Get the shards
    17. Get punked by the mage ass.
    18. Murder mage ass for wasting your time. You do murder him right?
    19. Discover that the Order of Layabouts has gone off and gotten themselves killed rather than wait for you to help them.
    20. Meet Craig Un'Shallach, the resident Drizzt expy. But still pretty cool.
    21. Ice magic hell.
    22. Tower defense. Or just skip what you're meant to do.
    23. Fight through the Blades. Get punked by Evil Omega Mage again.
    24. Chase the Evil Omega Mage into poison and ice hell.
    25. Escape poison and ice hell.
    26. Befrend the Dark Elves
    27. Time for cats
    28. Get the dark magic buff to make you unkillable from death towers
    29. Run for next level
    30. Time for more cats, and slow ass tree.
    31. Escape
    32. The Final Battle
    33. Discover the truth
    34. The end?

Haha, yes, as a kid the Human/Orc battle seem super amazing, but now it's kind of funny.
But the exchange of blows of both Mages still kicks ass!

Great recap! It’s heartwarming that you actually put more focus on your presentation than the game does in some points :D First off I do like the plot of TOoD. But the more I dig in to it, it’s more the atmosphere of this beatiful sorrow and how the world and lore is discovered that manages to suppress some shortcomings of the plot. Mostly you are a messenger and gathering information while killing armies. Getting frozen and trapped 3 times by the Dark one and killing of a major character? That’s lame and as you said unsurprising. The Hokan Ashir storyline is excellent and ties the SF1.
World building and atmosphere have always been the strong points of SpellForce. I still think that the plotlines and storytelling of the franchise have managed to convey differing emotions which is quite a feat. ToOD you have this sense of hopelessness yet you march on while discovering a mysterious world. In BoW there is this sense of urgency and everything is somewhat more optimistic? I can’t dissect Shadow Wars and Dragon Storm manage to do that but there is this ”new dawn of Man”-theme. Islands are cut off but it feels that a new, better times are ahead and things are less worse than they were in SF1 era.

@@Wormic Agree with the characters. For example Darius is fantastic and I think his finale in Demons of the Past is not the worst one. It could have been made so much better though.
In the first five games they managed to create that unique setting where you became very invested in you avatar RPG-wise yet it feels that your free rune warrior is just a actor in a larger play. It doesn’t matter was it a mage or warrior, female or male that liberated Shiel, the event itself matters. It feels like you don’t shape the history of Eo, you simply unfold it. Like the time loop of Rohen, it simply must happen. In Dragon Storm ending I didn’t get emotional over the fate of my character because I was attached to it, I was attached to Eo.

    • @joonaskuusisto2767
      @joonaskuusisto2767 3 ปีที่แล้ว

SPOILERS for Demons of the Past (if anyone cares)
From Ereon/Darius closure I liked that he sacrificed himself for the very mortals he used to love, map out their history, spend more time with them than other Guardians. I agree that FiD and DotP have messy lore that can be safely ignored. DotP had some good elements, fleshed out the Guardians and let us explore the Realm of Gods. FiD was a short mess overall.
I didn’t notice that Dragon Storm had lot of cut content and I thought starting at level 10 was a considerate decision to give the more experienced players a headstart with abilities. I’d definetely had enjoyed more DS. Considering all cover characters in franchise have appeared in-game, the woman in Dragon Storm could have been someone important. Also there really wasn’t this feel of ”dragon storm” at all, maybe that’s where the constraints hit. It still managed to pay homeage to long line fans.

Curiously enough, there are two DS promo concept art from the old website showing entire Blade cities with Shaper architecture, one as a huge Blade factory, another as Blade desert forge, and then there is DS promo screenshot showing the Shaper with his two Blade Minion bodyguards in King Ulf's Throne Room (final level).

Thanks for making this, I knew I was near the end of the game but I encountered the patch 1.61 bug of constantly spawning ice elementals on the mission before setting out to the godmark to rescue Sartarius, making the game impossible to beat without spending hours tinkering with cheat engine. Of course, after tons of hoops of getting the game to even boot up in the first place of the original version 1.54, my save was obviously incompatible. Playing the entire series in order so this helped. Consider me a new fan! Always loved Warcraft 3.

    • @Chraan

I didn't consider it a bug, I just thought the part was hard. The solution would have been to sacrifice your army to take out the spawn node, then make a new one and finish them off.

Huh, I never felt that satisfaction, I always straight up load up to spare him.
Maybe it has something with the fact that he is that way because of the nature of the artwork, so it *kind of* wasn't his choice to be like this (quite funny that mentalist is beaten by a mind boggling thingy). Unlike, say this guy in Greydusk Valley fortress, who chooses himself to make a deal with the dead and sells secrets to it - that guy I have no mercy for.

@@Animaster89 Well, I guess he cared little for a rune slave and was too selfish, so he wanted to get it for free and discard our avatar after their service was no longer required.
Plus, being in possession of a powerful stone, you wouldn't want to just give it for free, even if you value other artifact so much more.
And there's a chance (it's just a speculation) that a Dark One contacted Mechlan beforehand, given how mentalist used to serve for the Circle.

Honestly? Why was the protag of SF3 named "Tahar"? Seems so lazy next to Rohen TAHIR(who is also present in SF3, for all the extra wtf). Just ... yeah. I mean, an awesome fun game(except sometimes overly sombre tones), but that was just lazy. And that's why the only fun campaign in SF3, for me, is the Soul Harvest. It combines personal quest, saving the world, metaphysics...on a such grand scale that it's awesome. General Aerev!
