There seems to be no space for a single bed either. Not to speak of a desk with swivel chair for home office.
The view is pleasant, the railways are quite near, 5 min to Shi… is an excellent location. The clothes rack is a quality piece.
      Expensive.
Paella and Freixenet! Spidey & friends are gourmet.

I wonder what are the norms / what’s allowed when renting in Japan, because I think the toilet paper storage criteria seem really easy to overcome in most apartments we’ve seen so far. Shelves or racks are easy to buy, is it not allowed to drill 2 small holes in the apartment? At the end of the lease there’s still the option of filling the holes with sealant. Besides, holders or hanging bags are fairly common and practical. You can even find wall mounted drill free roll holders, as it’s not a very heavy object. I don’t get why it’s a dealbreaker?

@@clotairedest-fulgence2135 not a dealbreaker, just an insider joke. Usui has installed a spanner shelf in his 7.5 sq.m apt. It crushes from time to time spilling all the rolls to the floor. So a fixed toilet paper holder is a point in the search. It may double as storage for cleaners and detergents.
It seems, tenants i Japan are not allowed to drill holes in their rented apartments, and they have to remove anything they have installed, including self-adhesive wallpaper. (I have seen a video about full dismantling of a DIY apartment to its original status before moving out.)

      🔍🔍🔍
In the series "Friends" the apartment has an identical "balcony" exit😊. Access can be made and even planted 🍅! You have to be minimalist, make a cabinet on the wall bigger (there are carpentry projects in which everything comes down to a cabinet and in it: bed, desk, etc.), cook without fat, sandblasted glass in the bathroom to preserve privacy (if you have one invited to dinner...).
What matters, in my opinion, is the lack of elevators. I would live calmly and ask for a discount on rent 😁

So many negatives, especially the bathroom heater with the weird fabric that someone stuffed in there, just waiting to burn your apartment down. But the biggest negative that I see is the door to the bathroom is basically in the genkan, which has no storage. Something about coming out of the bathroom clean and having to step around dirty shoes and outside clothes and bags does not feel right to me. I can see why you didn't waste any time arranging the furniture or showing us the amenities around the area. The best part of the apartment is that you got to eat Spanish food afterwards.

An apartment with all the inconveniences)) High floor, additional stairs are needed to access the balcony, blinds in the bathroom will not hurt. And the rent is not that suitable, even if the location is provided. Although the room is sunny, there are tiles at the entrance, in the bathroom there is an opportunity not only to ventilate the room, but also to warm it. Hmm😊

Well, it is small...but the balcony is a big plus. I could live with the bathroom. A film can be put up on the windows to block the view into the bath. The kitchen needs a small fridge and a small microwave. The entryway needs a closet/cabinet for storage. The apartment itself needs a murphy bed in a wall cabinet to really make it workable, but as it is in Japan, I understand the size. I remember being young and "making it work". With the right setup, for one person, I think it would be fine. And considering that the rent is less than $600 US, I think its good. Like I said, the balcony is a big plus.

I think the heater in the bathroom serves 2 purposes. One to keep you warm during winter, Two you can hang your washed clothes up on the rod to dry since dryers are not common in Japan. You can only wash in cold water and the heater will help them dry faster. I saw this from another lady living in Japan.

I like how deep the kitchen sink is and that light placement, and I agree about the small fridge under the counter. The shower curtain rod is in the perfect place for hanging clothes to dry instead of in the main room, and shame there isn't a place for a washer/dryer, unless there is a small enough one that might fit under the sink too. I'd probably face the foot of the bed towards the kitchenette. I'd put plants on the balcony, with that height, but keep a folding step stool for emergencies with the ladder for getting out. This could definitely work, if it had an elevator.
    Thanks for another great video!

This one looks pretty good compared to some other videos I’ve seen. It’s a pretty nice bathroom; but some opaque screens or maybe just window coverings are in order. The “balcony” is a fire escape: that’s where you would use the ladder. But it’s a decent size and can maybe double as a little balcony.

You know, I kinda like it! It's a bit cramped, yeah. But a heater in the bathroom is sweet. Lol, I simply set some extra paper rolls on the floor next to the toilet for easy reach, sometimes in small bathrooms, I slid rolls onto the pluger handle, lol. You can always line the bath windows with cling sheets designed to create privacy (or, as my sister and her first husband once did on their bathroom door in a flat in San Francisco, line it with losing racetrack and lottery tickets! Sadly, they had more than enough and it did make for an interesting door.) Yeah, I'm not sure it's a proper balcony if you have to climb through the window, But hey, I used to climb out my bedroom window in a condo I once shared and lay out on the roof of the floor beneath (the den was under my bedroom) and listen to music and stargaze. It was awesome! You can always set out some plants too. I'd probably do a loft bed with office beneath since it's tight fit. At least the escape ladder isn't in the way. But where to put the washer/dryer? Do they have a local nice laundromat??

Paella? In Valencia, we call that dish "Arroz con cosas" (Rice with something). If you come to Valencia sometime, I will take you to an authentic paella restaurant. I am not from Valencia, but my wife was born there.

Whoa ho! That’s super cool. Small ladder access to roof from there access to other roofs, or just stars at night. You did really good getting out on the balcony just don’t look down never look down if your foot fits on it you’re good to go. I love the see-through bathrooms. I love the spa tile walls with the ambience carried through in the form of the bathroom heater.😅 windows are nice. I’ll be figuring out how to open them like the tiny one in the bathroom. That wire outside the window looks a lot like electrical. I’d be testing it before I touched it.⚡️
Replace the cooktop with a gas one. Did I see a washer/dryer? That makes the rent OK would be better if there was a refrigerator. ✅ ladder it’s got everything you need, and you’re on top in case of collapse and high and dry. The potato salad looks a bit like the bear.

    Micro Apartment Micro Paella

For a student, maybe….? The electric heater in the bathroom will be nice for winter, and for drying clothes.
However…. That “balcony” is horrid, the back of the tun does not meet the wall so you will have water and mildew in that thin gap. You won’t be able to fit a bed and desk/table in there. How can they charge so much? This is not the place for you Usui-san

It's not the best... But it's really not bad! I am a glass half full kinda girl.... This reminds me of me 1st apartment as a student... The bathroom is good... It's got a tub... And the washing basin combo toilet.... The glass walls are a bit.... You know😅... But it let's in a lot of light and it's only for 1 person anyway. The fact that there is a little outside area is awesome! Perfect for someone working many hours and just need a little place to call home!

If you put your bed on the balcony wall, you can use it as a step! This one is tiny. Would go with a futton, so there could desk and some cloths/food storage. No elevator and no onsite laundry is bad. The glass walls on the bath do not bother me- it brings in much-needed light. Buy a roll of frosted window cling fixes the privacy issue. In rooms this small, I would not have a guest, so privacy is not a dealbreaker.
