Nothing complicated about the story. Sheik Hassina led one of the most corrupt kleptocratic governments in the world which made its opponents disappear. The government was surrounded by oligarchs who benefited from the kleptocracy. Saddiq accepted huge gifts in the form of very expensive property from these oligarchs. I suppose that’s just socialist morality.

Her parents defrauded people in Bangladesh, using various names and offshore companies. With the stolen funds, they purchased flats and luxury cars, which Tulip Siddique, along with her siblings, received as gifts. Media outlets and Conservative MPs should urge the government to launch an investigation by the National Crime Agency.

Her family in Bangladesh looted multi billion dollars from the poor people. And she took millions pounds worth of flats for her aunts oligarch means she is the beneficial owner. When a British Barister family asked for help who was kidnapped by her aunt she said that she had nothing to do and claimed herself as British. But she visited Moscow with her aunt for multi billions dollars deal. When we see lots of her and Labour Party documents in our ex prime minister residence then it’s Crystal clear she is not innocent. NCA must investigate her honesty and integrity. As a Bangladeshi we feel shame for her actions.

One would be an idiot to think there was no quid pro quo in Bangladesh. Did she get mugged and subsequently receive bad advice? There were rumours this actually involved the 'loss' of more than one work phone. I struggle, with my most sympathetic of heads on, to believe there would have been a guilty proposal for a simple mistake of leaving the phone at home. I also struggle to believe that anyone of that age would have been out of the house for a prolonged period without the phone.

Well said, Andrew Marr. All governments need to worry not just about the legality of their actions but whether or not something looks "right" and whether or not the electorate as a whole will be persuaded of squeaky-clean integrity. Bad judgment again by Starmer. He's simply not very good at perceiving the public mood. He also doesn't seem to have a functioning political antenna.

You do have to wonder about Labour's vetting process. If someone has family in government in one of the most corrupt nations in the world, and led a brutal regime to boot, do you not make sure you have scrutinised everything to the nth degree with them before putting them in power, let alone in power as an anti-corruption minister?
As regards Louise Haigh versus Tulip Saddiq, there is another, uncomfortable issue here - a sizable portion of the population will immediately bring race to mind rather than the political side of the party they are home to. Has she come to power because of immigration from 'majority world' (erstwhile third world - 'majority world' aptly being coined by a Bangladeshi) countries and Labour's attitude with it? It's _particularly_ damaging because of the Elon Musk versus Starmer on grooming gangs thing. It gives a certain type of person a lot of ammunition. Expect to hear a lot of 'If Saddiq's aunt had been Bosnian or Greek, would she have got anywhere near power without this being flagged up'. (It's hard to find a European country near Bangladesh on the Corruption Index other than maybe Russia (and there's a whole host of other things going on there).) And the thing is, with the grooming gangs scandal back in the public consciousness, that argument will gain traction.

I don't think there are any double standards. The complaint about the filthy tories is not so much that they had corrupt MP's, it is how they dealt with it once allegations came to light. The tories always tried to find ways to make the allegations go away or in one instance tried to change parliamentary rules. To labour's credit, the two instances that I recall in the parliament of dodgy MP's have been dealt with by suspensions and resignations.

How do they know she has done nothing wrong if haven't completed their investigation! The suggestion there isn't much to see is laughable. Alongside her Aunt both her mother & brother worked for the party. There are suggestions of a crossing of support and influence helping Tulip Siddiq get elected with her thanking the Awami League supporters in getting her elected and her involvement in Awami. Call me old fashioned but I want my countries politicians acting on the best interests of our country not have conlicts of interest. Then there is the suggestion that us simple non London elite won't understand how you get handed a property with no clue where it came from.. to right we don't understand as I new at 21 where everything I got csme from. Also, there are suggestions it is more than this 1 property. The fact our family businesses such as farmers farms face being made uncompetitive with issues around succession l, gifting etc one has to wonder much like Lord Alli's gifting ever see the tax man take his share. Give it was a trust I guess not, again suggesting one rule for overseas & London elites and another for us plebs.

States he is not a Labour apologist, proceeds to make excuses. They campaigned on being the party of "grown-ups" with integrity and that they knew what they were doing. They can't then come in and use their lack of experience as an excuse for what is some pretty shoddy behaviour and bad decisions.
