    I've just stripped a 2.25 petrol engine down which had been sat for years. The conrods were scabby as hell but useable. Planning to give them the shot blast treatment. What did you treat them with after you blasted? Thanks for the videos, they are really helpful.

    what i don't hear much these days is emery cloth which when i was an apprentice electrical fitter in the 80s we used it for cleaning/polishing loads of component's. Dave & Lisa south wales uk

      Yes. I used a super fine emery cloth on a roll, to polish the water stain out of Number 3 journal

    An acid dip tank isn't that hard to rig up, we made our own for on site dipping of all the welded pipe fittings for building power station turbine oil systems. You've got to be careful of course. Be good for cleaning up fittings for that boat you don't have/need...lol! 😂

    A good abrasive to klean sensible steel surfaces as bearing shafts and similar is scotch brite. I use it often with very good results, instead of papersanding. I'm just finishing a 70 years old Series One IOE 2.0 spreadbore engine stalled for more than 20 years and many of your advices were very usefull. Thanks for that Mike.

    Holy crap - as predicted - I winced at the thought of sandblasting the crankshaft!! - I've honestly never seeen anyone do that before... but, it seemed to turn out pretty good! - well done that man...and well done for shattering my nerves! - and as for the drinking game every time you mention _Krown,_ I am now well and truly pissed as the proverbial newt, and we are only 6 mins into the 17 min video.......God help us all ('cos no other bugger will) And I have to comment on the state of the workshop coat after the sandblasting, and hope that Deborah realises that _this_ is why you don't wear the new one she got you. All the best, and now (after pausing to comment at 5 mins in), I shall away and watch the rest of the video. Dogue.

      @@BritannicaRestorations a thought for a video would be talk/built a 'high performance' 2.25l
      Ie high compression heads, different carbs, etc... as there is a tonne of miss information out there on how to squeeze some extra horses out of that lump of iron.

    I was looking into swapping a Rover 3.5 v8 into a MGB. It turned out I wouldn't need and suspension modifications. I'm guessing this weighs as much or more...

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe so - Many years ago I swapped a Jag 6 cylinder to a Rover V8 and the suspension had to be dropped a bit as it looked odd

    Loving this Mike, the military 2.25 over here are up at silly money. Especially a 236 or 951 some people asking up to £1200 for a take out and not with the the above numbers. Crazy.

      @@BritannicaRestorations Hi Mike, I'm trying to find a wiring diagram for my Defender 127 Ambulance. Electric are not good and was thinking about a new wiring loom. Think it might be the same as a 110 but not sure. Would you know how I can find out? Chassis no? Sorry to badger you on this thread. Cheers

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James - I have no diagrams but if you want to rewire the lot, then change to 300 Tdi as it was simple - BUT you need the full harness front to back inc engine harness - You will have to change the indicator/direction stalks etc as the plugs will be different
      The only major difference with harnesses are the plugs
      New harnesses come with the spade fuse box, but not the metal support - easy to find used

      @@BritannicaRestorations Thanks Mike. I've got the 3.5RV8 in mine so yes would have to change the lot. I'll do a bit more investigation on the wiring I've got and see if I can improve it. Cheers.
