My dad bought this one new, I repaired it about 15 years ago (dried out 1uF caps here and there). The power output is extremely conservative. I always loved its sound, especially with the loudness switch turned on. Definitely can shake a room or two.

I've probably had close to 100 vintage receivers pass through my hands in the last 10 years (I used to buy and sell vintage audio on the side). I'm now down to about 20 in my personal collection, and the Sony TA-2650 is one of them. I have it paired with a beautiful matching set of Sony APM-22es speakers.

Nice to see such a familiar item (to me) on TH-cam. I have one of these. Bought it new along with a Sony ST-2950 tuner back in 1977. The set works perfectly to this day and still looks good too.

@@Another_Ambrose_Adventure Amplifier 300 Dutch guilders, tuner 200. Would be about the same in euros now.

@@colanitower, In Canada the identical amp sells for $300 and up. People stick the word "Vintage" in their ad and feel
that alone should get them extra dollars, even though the only thing they've done to the amp is wipe the dust off it.
All items are usually sold (as is) so it's up to you to spend
whatever it costs to get it working. In Canada a proper service and repair will cost you $50 to $75 per hour plus parts. Do the math. These amps are not worth$500 + or -.

The lower tape socket is called a 5 pin DIN socket,it duplicates the phono connectors above it. DIN sockets were common in the 70s. I have one of these amps,it stopped working yesterday, it looks like the big Nichicon cap has leaked.

That`s a shame, but you should be able to find an equivalent, if you haven`t already, hope you kept it and fixed it (:

@@afrog2666 Unfortunately, after several repairs which failed quickly, the engineers have had to give up on it, so it is dead. I now use a Technics SU-V3, from 1981, which is a cracking amp, 40W per, and complements my Technics SL-PG 590 CD player and Technics SB-F 950 3 ways.

@Alex Mit Hi Alex, I ended up getting it working fine and a mate bought it straight off me, so I never had a real sit down listen of it, but the short time I did have a listen it sounded quite nice indeed.

Can I connect a microphone for a guitar to my Sony ta-1630? The jack enters perfectly but the speaker doesn't do any sound. The microphone in question is the "eko fasi" and the amp is connected to a Sony speaker.

I would have thought so! Hopefully the community can help here.

    • @adeladd7638
      @adeladd7638 ปีที่แล้ว

Your microphone will have a mono jack plug, the input is stereo. Try pulling the plug out a bit and you may get a connection, otherwise you will need to fit a stereo plug with the end 2 connectors commoned. Also do not use the amp with only one speaker, it will damage it. Use 2 or put an 8 ohm load on the other channel.

None, it is a hi-fi separate, you chose what else you got to go with it.

This one says 275W consumption, the one I`m looking at used says 400W, it`s an earlier serial number, in the 51 range, this is 60 series, anyone have any idea what that`s all about?

I always get disappointed when I see those stupid spring loaded speaker terminals on such beautiful amps. I know they were common at the time, but surely someone must have thought, even in 1976, this could be done better for not much more cost/effort.

You are clueless about this amplifier. You don't know how the attenuator/mute switch works (even though it's labeled) , or how or why acoustic compensator switch is used. You took a swerve past the tape copy switch altogether. And why are you running both speakers into the two left channels only. Fortunately you're unlikely to blow the output transistors by driving the right channel into no load but I wouldn't advise trying that on every amplifier from the '70's.
