The JPN voice is basic standard JPN dub quality, so good, but absolutely nothing special. The EN voice is special here. All their local accents give them so much more cultural background that the JPN dub just doesn't seem to use much at all. I'm often in the JPN voices camp, but here the English voice acting really shines brighter than the rest. And that is truly a rare treat! It's perhaps because that was the intended original language to begin with, so there's way more detail there than your usual mobage/anime-esque EN dub. Some people say the voice acting is bad, but I think the voices in English are more natural sounding here as they don't try to overact all their lines like in your basic English anime dub.
The English is the original audio also so they put a lot of work on it~! I think I'll enjoy both after playing in English for awhile can switch it up during combat or farming.

Their english voices is part of their personality. Example, Matilda is French and on her storyboard she is a very proud French. Very very proud of her language that even if people don't understand French, she will still speak on it to you. That's just one example of something that will be gone on other Dubs. There is also a scene on Chapter 4 which I am not gonna talk about in detail but basically many haven't realized this character's nationality so that scene just felt very special. It's not just the accent that is special, it's the fact that they actually speak their own language
the reason why this game stands out by using EN VA instead of JP VA is because, in majority of games out there, the EN VA is merely just a "language" for the character to talk in, so that's why we chose to play in JP rather than EN but Rev99 uses the EN VA-ing into its max output, and uses it to give "life" and "personality" to the characters. for me, this is truly fascinating to see each characters have their own unique "personality" just by from their dialogue
I personally fell in love with the En dub, due to being so freaking high quality, and everyone has it's own accent and sounds so personal, makes me remember games like FF XII, and compared to other games, i don't find the eng dub forced on cutesy pastel like voices, as in i could be walking through a city and hear any of those voices.
English dub wins hands down. The Japanese voice actors did their best and I can tell that even for anime-style voice acting it is very crisp and clear and each character has a distinctive way of speaking and intoning that makes them special. The english voices however? They add an INCREDIBLE amount of character and firmly place these characters to a rooted and grounded place in the world that to my knowledge is our world but with magic and the plot of reversing time. It makes them feel more like people I could run into while trying to discover the reason behind the rewinding time from all across the world.
I kind of wish Genshin did this with it's voice acting. While the music and architecture is amazing, good lord how immersive Teyvat would be if all the regions had accents.
I usually use Japanese dub for almost all games I've played, but only for this one I would prefer English dub more. And it actually really nice, doesn't sound too cringe. Certainly wouldn't hurt to try it out.

eng is the big w for me. Like seriously, this game's original language is english. I'm always a person who doesn't tolerate dubs since it changes their personality and features. Esp in this game, many characters choose to speak their original language when they're talking to their self(hindi for indians, french for matilda, chinese for chinese, jp for jp, etc.) Jp dub is making everyone the same. this game's setting is also set in London. Ppl are not even in Japan or some fantasy world. Giving them jp voice puts them off

Eng dub because they use authentic accents. Example, they used a Japanese VA dub in english for a Japanese character. You can clearly hear English ain't the actress first language and that makes it great because it's authentic.

I would say English is by far the best DUB, because they have their own unique local accent depending on where they're from. Which is not something most developers would include in a game. For example, Genshin Impact is a great game but they don't have those voice accent that they should have. Mondstadt is based on Germany, Liyue on China, and Inazuma on Edo-period Japan, Sumeru will be Egypt and Fontaine is France. They all should have their own respective accent to their voice but the developers of Genshin doesn't do that.
There are some english voices that annoy me unfortunately, but over all its pretty good and it gives the characters so much more personality, so I will have to go with the EN voices.
the first time I see the CBT gameplay I thought I definitely have to play this game. So far, the only game that I prefer using EN dub rather than the JP dub (even though the JP dub is as good as the EN, but the distinct accent give more color to the characters). Also L2D animation 👍
I find myself still switching back and forth. There are times when I prefer the accents in the eng dub, but there are also times when I feel like the line delivery in EN is a bit more monotonous than the JP dub. There's also the fact that I'm more familiar with the JP so that adds to the difficulty of settling with which one to choose.
same here. I find the en dub to be very immersive and natural but I just seems to be too used to JP dub from other game. AT times I do find the JP voice to be a little bit out of character though. Eg vertin's EN voice does much fit the scene though

game was meant to play in EN, and the quality its insane, most cases i swap to JP because the quality its just high there, not this case with this game, its the other way , if you dont play on EN VA, you are losing out. played on beta and EN its just way better.

From the few characters that I have here’re the voices I prefer Vertin: EN. Her British accent is spot on; sometimes I wish her voice were more emotional but the accent alone is enough for me. Sonetto: JP. Her EN voice is a bit too “acted” for me, plus I can’t tell what her accent (American, British, Italian?) is supposed to be. Regulus: EN, same reason as Vertin. British accent is just too good. Bkornblume: JP, her German accent is not that pronounced and her JP voice is just really cute. Melania and Dikke: JP, Kana Ueda (Rin Tohsaka, Yoimiya) and Kawasumi Ayako (Saber) are just too iconic for me to not choose them. Medicine Pocket: EN, their EN voice is much more feminine which I like. Plus I don’t think Tanjiro is that suited for the alleged sociopath role.
YUP when I heard Melanie's JP voice I immediately freaked out and could tell that it was rin.. same goes for recognizing Dikke as Saber and Druvis as Morgan, Forget me Not having the same voice as Archer!!.. I'm totally satisfied with these JP voices..

English VA is the way the devs meant for players to play the game. Keep in mind that the game is set in London in 1999 and there weren't that many Japanese speaking people at the time. The original VA is the English VA, Japanese VA was added later to satisfy the weebs that want all their games in Japanese. The English VA have different accents which allows you to easy pick up which character is from what country, by listening to it you can see that this character is British, but this one is Italian and this one is German, you can easily pick that up with English VA, it's more immerse than the Japanese one, the Japanese VA while also good, makes everyone sound Japanese which they aren't.

After years using jp dub on games I've been played (crk, genshin, hsr) im...gonna stand with eng dub for reverse:1999, the dubbing is really different from other game english dubbing! So many accents...unlike in jp dub, i only know sonetto and regulus in jp dub spoke in italian/british english a bit. I really love the eng dub on this game!
English, ONLY for the simple fact that it sounds better and more pleasing to the ears then JP. Will plus it sounds like FF14, and I love their style and way of voice acting the character's.
I like the EN dub which has accents for characters from different countries, and they speak in their own way. Japanese dub is good but I can think of a couple of characters with the same voice and way to speak when I listen to each of them. Just too normal, not unique.
Eng has accent JP has better voice acting. Some of the eng VAs are fine, but most of them sound amateurish and like it was recorded by a bad studio (bad audio quality). Accent is just more faithful than being better voice acted. Although i don't expect high quality eng dub that big companies like Atlus, Capcom, Bandai has from a gacha game when Mihoyo has sub-par to mid eng dub and they get millions per month.
Never have I played a Gacha game that lets me use the English voice more. This game has such amazing English voice acting that it made me just pick English dub all the way (and this is coming from me who mostly uses the japanese dub on gacha games)
For this game the english is fucking good, and i am usually using japan dub. So yeah if english dub sounded more like this game i think english dub will be preferred once more
I've never feel so conflicted when choosing voice pack before.. I''m too used with JP dub. Personnally I don't mind too much about accent, the only problem I have with JP dub in this game is how the character didn't speak in Russian or Cantonese when they canonically did.
English in this is incredible, though on some parts it does feel off like some just feels a little lacking in the emotions but at least it's not actually bad like completely off, and the native accents is a big plus instead of using just basic English This game is one of the few times English is actually on par if not better than a JP dub (like arcane seriously doesn't fit her character in JP, it's too much erotic mommy energy on it)
the devs added Japanese VA but the game is meant to be played in English tho, the setting is in London 1999 so the English cast is actually the original voices and have different accents, people from different countries have their own country accent. If you prefer Japanese VA sure go for it but if you want to actually feel like you're in London go English VA
I generally prefer Japanese so I properly understand how the character is meant to be portrayed! While other characters like Tenant or An An sound better in their English, some select character like Eternity, I think their Japanese voice brings out the personality they wanted to interpret!! I wish I could change only specific character voices😣
ENG has more soul to it. one time ENG voices make JP sound generic and out of place it completely changes an interesting character into a mediocre anime trope character

For me the eng gives me more immersion into the story. That and I understand English, no clue wtf is said in Japanese.

The English VA have different accents which allows you to easy pick up which character is from what country, by listening to it you can see that this character is British, but this one is Italian and this one is German, you can easily pick that up with English VA, it's more immerse than the Japanese one, the Japanese VA while also good, makes everyone sound Japanese which they aren't.

Im usually the guy that says jp>en but this time is an exception. En definitely outshines jp specially how the accents are chosen to be used on certain characters.

I'm learning Japanese, but I’d rather play in my native language Because I feel more comfortable playing like that. I mostly play video games in English voices. But I watch anime with original Japanese voices with subtitles.

But tbh, every enemies in this game can be playable, the latest event in CN brings a regular mob to player to be playable in event story 😂). But who knows, she may be obtainable character in the future if Bluepoch need.
The english dub is quite amazing because how the quality of the eng dubs. So many different english accents and a Knight have a french accent 👍😊

After years using jp dub on games I've been played (crk, genshin, hsr) im...gonna stand with eng dub for reverse:1999, the dubbing is really different from other game english dubbing! So many accents...unlike in jp dub, i only know sonetto and regulus in jp dub spoke in italian/british english a bit. I really love the eng dub on this game!
English, ONLY for the simple fact that it sounds better and more pleasing to the ears then JP.
Will plus it sounds like FF14, and I love their style and way of voice acting the character's.
It also has better dialogues, if you speak Japanese you wouldn't read the English subs and the voices say something different.
Also you can leave the story on auto-play and make it like a podcast~ And there are over 5+ hours worth on release.
Jap sound way better
I like the EN dub which has accents for characters from different countries, and they speak in their own way. Japanese dub is good but I can think of a couple of characters with the same voice and way to speak when I listen to each of them. Just too normal, not unique.
Eng has accent
JP has better voice acting.
Some of the eng VAs are fine, but most of them sound amateurish and like it was recorded by a bad studio (bad audio quality). Accent is just more faithful than being better voice acted.
Although i don't expect high quality eng dub that big companies like Atlus, Capcom, Bandai has from a gacha game when Mihoyo has sub-par to mid eng dub and they get millions per month.
I have trouble deciding between the two. Especially with Arcana... I hope she becomes playable later.

Never have I played a Gacha game that lets me use the English voice more. This game has such amazing English voice acting that it made me just pick English dub all the way (and this is coming from me who mostly uses the japanese dub on gacha games)

I would give Eng Dub for this game this time around since there are variety of accents in the characters.
I've never feel so conflicted when choosing voice pack before.. I''m too used with JP dub. Personnally I don't mind too much about accent, the only problem I have with JP dub in this game is how the character didn't speak in Russian or Cantonese when they canonically did.
English in this is incredible, though on some parts it does feel off like some just feels a little lacking in the emotions but at least it's not actually bad like completely off, and the native accents is a big plus instead of using just basic English
This game is one of the few times English is actually on par if not better than a JP dub (like arcane seriously doesn't fit her character in JP, it's too much erotic mommy energy on it)

I prefer the Japanese; but credit to the English Voice acting its also well done.
the devs added Japanese VA but the game is meant to be played in English tho, the setting is in London 1999 so the English cast is actually the original voices and have different accents, people from different countries have their own country accent. If you prefer Japanese VA sure go for it but if you want to actually feel like you're in London go English VA

The Eng voice is the reason for most people to start play the game, I think Reverse 1999 with other languages is just basic gacha game
I generally prefer Japanese so I properly understand how the character is meant to be portrayed! While other characters like Tenant or An An sound better in their English, some select character like Eternity, I think their Japanese voice brings out the personality they wanted to interpret!! I wish I could change only specific character voices😣
