    The Strap buttons are designed to use Hasselblad style clips.

    I found this camera from one of my relative's home and I am the proud current owner of it. However, I have never used a fully analogue camera and I don't know what to do. This video gave me the proper motivation to try and learn more about it. Side note: Mine also has the leather case!

    Enjoyed the video, especially the photographs. A couple of days ago, I traded an old duplicate lens I had for a nearly mint Vito BL. What a lovely camera. Surprisingly, the light meter works quite well. The camera is a joy to use. Voigtlander made beautiful cameras. The fit and finish is top notch. Better than Leica in my opinion. The chrome just glows and the Color Skopar lens is top notch. I just developed the first roll of film from the camera and look forward to printing them tomorrow. I do have to say that when I used the light meter, it was dead on. Old selenium light meters often get a bad rap. On the whole, I have had better luck with selenium meters on cameras than those with older CDS meters. This is especially true with high end German meters. They last and last. I have a Zeiss Contax III rangefinder, one of the very first cameras with a built in light meter. It was made in 1936. The selenium meter still reads dead on.

      Wow, thank you for sharing your story, really appreciated it. :-) Yeah, the built quality of Voigtländer is great though in my opinion, I much prefer the built quality and the ergonomics of the Leica (but the paint job of the Voigtländer is better in my opinion as Voigtländer likes to keep paint on their cameras and Leica shooters likes it better when the paint comes off over time to show the "classic" style~~ haha)...
      That being said, I hope you film develop went well! The light meter on my camera is also dead but it's a really common problem for the model that I have anyway.. haha...
      But thank you very much again for sharing your story, really appreciated it. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

      @@DavidCuhls Thanks, David. Developed two rolls and I was really pleased with the sharpness of the f3.5 50mm Color Skopar lens. Just top notch. It also helped that I ran out of a 100 ft. roll of Fomapan 400 and switched to Kentmere 400. Huge difference in quality and consistency, plus Kentmere actually performs at box speed.. Fomapan 400 was the most frustrating film I have ever used. It was a big surprise when some negatives on a roll were useable, however, they were usually scratched. Let me say something in favor of a f3.5 Tessar type lens like the Color Skopar. On a zone focus camera like the Vito BL you will rarely use the lens wide open. Generally you want to be at least at f5.6 or f8 for the greater depth of field plus that is entering the range of optimum lens performance. One of the most sought after lenses for the original Contax rangefinder camera is the post war f3.5 50mm Zeiss Tessar lens. (not the more common f2.8 version) Beside its rarity it is reputed to be one of the sharpest lenses for the Contax. So that says a lot when talking about the Zeiss optics.

    I accidentally won this camera at an auction. I bid and forgot about it until I was notified that my bid was highest. My bid was 50USD. When I received the camera I was shocked by its condition. Mint doesn't describe it. It looks as if it was used 5 times. No trace of dirt or scratches anywhere and it came with a leather case and chrome metal lens hood and two filters. I feel as if I stole it. Light meter does not seem to work. But shutter speeds function OK.

      Congrats on the camera! Yeah, nowadays you can really find this camera for a really low price and due to the really nice and robust built quality of the camera, you usually tend to find it in an excellent condition as well! It also is a proof of the built quality and that it will survive many more decades to come! :-) Thank you very much for sharing your story and for watching, really means a lot! Hope you have a great time and have fun shooting! :-)

    I have recently come into possession of one of these cameras. It is a VITO BL model, with what appears to be a VITO B lens 3.5/50. Does that make sense?

    Hey! I just got this camera and want to know the best but cheapest film I can get, this is my first camera and I wanted to go vintage so this was the perfect camera, but what film would nail the vintage that’s compatible with this?

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats on the camera, regarding the film, I think a lot of the films out there do deliver nice vintage look already. For colour films, I personally love the Kodak gold 200 (and also 400), Fujicolour 200 (and also 400), for black and white, I prefer lomo 100, ilford 400 and agfa 100. These films a very accessible and also very affordable and they also deliver really classic vintage look and if used properly can also be very unique. :-) Hope that helps a bit. I thank you very much for watching, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

    Came across your videos to watch about fuji x series lenses, now I want to ditch all that and get my Voightlander CL out, possibly my favourite camera that I've owned, just something about it 😊

      Haha, there is something about the using the Voigtländer series of cameras. :-) They have some sort of pleasant feeling every time you use them. Even though it is not always efficient but there is some sort of charm.
      Thanks for watching and also sharing your story, very much appreciated it. :-) I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

    What kind of reels did you use? Can I use Kodak portra 400 ?

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mainly just use the more common Kodak Gold 200 (also 400), Fujicolour 200, Agfa Black and White 100 (also 800), etc. You can definitely use the Kodak Portra 400 with this camera (the 135/36 version of course as this camera only accepts 35mm films). Hope that helps somewhat, I thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
