I have used the NOVA system since in came out back in 2010 and it has always remained on every board I have constructed. My board is a custom designed Blackbird Pedalboard with Pedal Power 2 Plus mounted underneath. For switching I use a MIDI mouse in the same way you use your MIDI switcher and have my banks set up very much the same a well. I also use an assignable expression pedal and my other effects on my current board are a Digitech Ventura Vibe, a TC Mojo Mojo drive, a boost pedal an original 1983 ProCo RAT Distortion pedal which I bought brand new way back when and finally a Moore Slow Engine pedal which does incredible volume swells ala Steve Hackett, I also have the same tuner as you on my board too! It's a win win all around and I am still using this setup in 2022.
I love the Nova. Very practical The unit is 240 volt no problem with power supplies and faulty leads. They can be bought for less than the price of a delay pedal. I have 2 of these units. Just learn to use it and you will be happy. I use it with a Boss katana as clean canvas and I am happy as I have ever been with my tone. I just want to add that I have tried alot of amps racks and pedals and this is where I arrived.
Started with multi fx, went to high end racks, gone to pedals and now I use a mix of multis and pedals. Works fine. Each have its own thing going on. Nothing beats trial and error.
@@juanmiguelbatac919 there's no rule. For a long time multifx been strong with modulations and time based effects, so generally people use them for those and pairing them with the dirt channel on their amps or dirt pedals. Nowadays multifx have good emulations of dirt and amps too, so eithef you use them for everything or pair them with a specific pedal you enjoy. Again, no rules
I'm thinking of picking up a Nova, adding a good wah and tuner as a basic multi purpose set up similar to this, in front of a Peavey Classic 30. Really like the overdrive and of course the reverb and delay on the Nova.
I’ve used the TC Nova out live for a number of years now, it work fine, low noise and has been reliable....in my experience fewer patch cables and power supplies = happier guitarist......enjoyed the video👍
Hi ! I was wondering what makes the Nova so great ? The unit is quite old ... is there something very special about it ? I am considering buying it but what when comparing with line 6 hx Effects ?
Hi. Is it possible to connect a big muff Pedal for distortion and then connect zoom processor (g5n) for the remaining fx like chorus flanger delay, reverb ? Can both run together giving a great sound output ?
Yeah, you can run drive or fuzz pedals before the Nova System. You can also run additional effects after it. But I'd just use the modulation and delay/reverb effects on the Nova itself ; )
I also have a Nova Drive, I recently got a handful of other pedals including a Reverb pedal that I prefer over the Nova’s. I noticed you didn’t really use any major fx pedals outside the Nova, just boosters and stuff. Do you think it would be a good idea to use the Nova just for Delay and Chorus, while using other pedals for reverb?
Disculpa hermano no Ingles pero tengo ese pedal de tc electronic nova pero le quiero agregar tres Pedales análogos pero no se cómo conectarlos si me pudieras dar un tutorial de cómo se conectan te lo agradecería
Hi there, great video, very clear and concise. I have almost the same pedalboard (Wah + mxr zakk wylde + ditto looper + NS) but my Nova System just passed the way a few days ago. I was wondering about the G System to upgrade. Do you have any opinion about this unit ? One more question if I dare...Was it complicated to map the NS with the MKII ?
Yeah, I’ve never tried the G-System personally. The Nova System uses many of the same effects, so that should give you an idea of the sound quality. Personally, if I had to replace my Nova System... I’d be tempted to check out the new Line 6 HX-FX (looks to be a similar style unit, with a bit more versatility). Regarding the MKII, it’s easy enough to work out how to program changing between banks. It’s also capable of some more advanced functionality too but (given the user manual is next to useless) they don’t make it easy for you make use of this. Hope that helps. Cheers!
Thanks for your feedback. I finally bought the G System (a used one). I think the upgrade resides in those points : You can A/B switch electric/acoustic guitars without buying something else, it serves also to power pedals (4), you can plug both expression pedal and wah, and most of all, you can use it to switch the channels of your amp. I think it's worth the update but I'll make my mind with time and experience ;).
Is there any chance you could do a review on the Vox Stomplab IIG. I'm hoping to buy one and would they be good for live performance when you play songs to people? :)
Hey! I use a dedicated buffer on almost every pedalboard I build. For a better explanation of this, checkout my video on 3 common pedalboard mistakes: th-cam.com/video/kIXk6kzZEfo/w-d-xo.html
I have read the tap tempo of the nova reacts when you leave the switch. I guess thats very inaccurate when trying to sync into a Tempo. Is that the case or has there been an Update to switch the Tempo when you turn the switch down?
Hi man, how do you deal with the power cables? I want to put my nova system with other pedals, but I only want to use 1 power cable. How do you deal with that? thanks!
I think the problem is a great guitar, amps, individual pedals ...would cost as much as a nice multi effect unit. Pedals can break, introduce lots of hum, etc.
Actually the opposite is true. That one multi effects unit is much cheaper than buying individual stomp boxes (and all of the supporting pieces to connect and power them). The real "problem" is tone quality and having effects that you like. With the multi effects unit, you're stuck with its options.

The Nova System is amazing. 2023 and still the best in my opinion.
Nice!

so nice to see other guitar players still using the Nova...
It's an oldie but a goodie ; )

What do you think are pedals that fits with the multi effects?

Agreed. I use multi effects for my digital effects in the amp loop and analog pedals for my drive and boost type pedals.🤘🤘🤘

Nice! You can probably grab them for a real bargain nowadays ; )
Whats the size of your pedal board tc nova system

Totally. When in doubt, keep it simple. That's probably also a good ideal to live by!
Like the video and the set up but is there a follow up video on how this rig sounds?
Hi !
I was wondering what makes the Nova so great ? The unit is quite old ... is there something very special about it ? I am considering buying it but what when comparing with line 6 hx Effects ?
Interesting. So the TC unit has a bad tuner, no pedal, no looper, and the final tone has to be improved? Seems like there's room for improvement. :)

What brand midi controller?
It's a One Control unit. Cheers.
Can multieffect boost with stompbox distortion?
Is there a certain setting the Nova has to be? There's no sound coming out of my amp

What pedalboard is this you have all your pedals on this setup. I am currently building a similar sized rig using the nova system. Thanks.

What’s the midi switcher?
I've had the HX Effects for maybe 6 months. I miss my pedal board. Hx sucks tone. Pedal board sound much better. Going back to pedals
Yes,Hx effect sucks tone.i going to pedal too.
