It’s great to see that you wrap your horses legs. Wrapping your horses legs is one of the most important things that a person can do for their horse. When wrapping your horses legs, you should always wrap in the direction that Matt is wrapping, pulling the horses tendon to the inside, thus helping to prevent a bowed tendon. Horses are like people, if you do something n get hurt, your not going to want to do it again. Horses are the same way. If their legs aren’t protected n they get hurt, they are not going to want to do it again n if they have to do the thing that caused them to get hurt, then they are not going to try their best, n they will not put their heart n soul into it.
Polo wraps! Thank you for showing people how to use them properly. So many people don't use them anymore, they just put boots on, but you just showed what a benefit they are with boots. I grew up in northern Virginia, had my own horses, but also galloped at the track and did a stint as a show barn groom. Both places it was polos all around every day. You nailed it too they are cheaper lol.
I do it for you! I have a Ton of in depth tutorials on my website mattmillsreining.com. Stories like these is why I started this! I’ve got well over 200 on the Training Video page. I’d love for you to try it out and let me know if it helps! 👊🏾〽️
Awesome video, so important to use something! I have the buckle-up skid boots only when we working on Stopping/showing. It's like a cue for TC (my horse) now.
Matt Mills even has a way of wrapping POLO wraps (something you've seen done a million times online) different than anyone else on earth. Hahah, seasoned equestrian here and this is my first time seeing that point of knee wrap. Learn something every time here.
Hi again MATT More valuable info especially for the less experienced. Wraps and boots can save legs vet bills and possibly the horse too! Not for a cool look as some think but a real and important preventative purpose. Thx as always for sharing. You have a wonderful teaching ability. Hoping the weather hasn't hit you and the horses too badly...
I know my comment is unrelated to the video, but I have to ask: would you make a mini-tip video on physical conditioning, steps to take to get the horse in shape, regardless whether we compete or not? Thanks.
Learned a lot. Was curious about the knee and skid boots, how to apply, etc. Since I have never reined, I did not know the in and outs of those two. Also polo wrap techniques great to learn. Thanks very much 〽️〽️. ❣️🍀
Thank you for making this video, it's super helpful! I was wondering if you could do a video on how you pack/prepare for hauling out to a show? I get worried about horses not drinking while on the road or getting ulcery and I was wondering what your team does to help combat these issues?
Exactly the trainer who taught me had me dedicate a half hour a day for a week of just putting polos on and off. I'm pretty sure the next barn that hired me was based solely on the fact that I could correctly apply polos 😂
I love the first way of wrapping, I usually do the second tho. Have steered away from bandaging my dressage horses as it gets hot here in west Australia, and I find it tends to overheat the tendons. Do you find that as well? So have reverted to boots. When winter hits, back to bandages, 😊
Hi! i was wondering if you have a video on how to position your saddle correctly. i recently bought a western saddle but i dont know if i position it right. my dressage saddle was quite different in that way :)

Hahaha. Glad you enjoyed it. Good to know how to do this stuff
@@mattmillsreining1 it sure is! It would be great if you would do a few videos of different bits that you use and why. Thank you for great content.
I love how mindful you are. It makes me happy for your horses.
Please do more videos like these
Or at all lol 😂

Welcome! Weather has been fine here in the desert! Thinking of my friends in Texas.
The horses are so beautiful their faces are just beautiful
They are so talented

Great idea! Thanks for watching! 🤙🏾
Awesome! I was wondering what reiners used for leg protection during training. I totally agree polo wraps are great once you get the hang of them!
All it takes is practice!

You’re welcome !!
What are your thoughts on back on track poli wraps
And also can you do a video on shoeing and sliders
And what do you recommend to make your slide longer
Is this Bonnie? I feel like I haven't seen much of her since the road to the futurity videos!

@@mattmillsreining1 i've found the video and it definitly makes it clearer! thanks!
Thanks Matt. May I ask is the reason for tieing or raping tails is for keeping clean and out of the way?
Yes sir. When they slide stop those tails get pretty dirty.
In addition, it helps avoid pulling strands (or large amounts) of hair out which might sour them from backing nicely
@@jeffs.2431 yes Sir thanks
@@mattmillsreining1 Thank you sir
Have you ever tried proftionalotional choice splint boots
Sorry professional
Do the horses learn that when you put the skid boots on that it is “skidding n stopping” time?
I’m not so sure on that 😎
😍😍😍😍
Hey there I’m looking to buy if you know of any. Experienced rider
No tribute for Mr. Fisher?
Yes of course. On my facebook
Love sweet Bonnie girl ❤️
Ouch let’s pop some stifles so we can watch our horses slide, what fun!!! Lol
Ouch, let’s comment on something we know nothing about! What stupidity! Lol
Okay....I am 100% afraid of getting this wrong so I stick to PC boots.
First
My brother loves you but I am more into baseball
Nothing wrong with that!!! 👍🏾👍🏾
He loves you tho he love how humble you are and how much you love your horses
I’m so grateful to get to do what I love for a living! That’s what it’s ALL about! 👍🏾👍🏾
