The fact that Benson was treating everyone and Mordecai and Rigby thought it would be funny to get something expensive as a joke was possibly the least funny thing as it came from Benson's own money. If you watch the whole scene, they laughed ordering the sandwich and while Rigby was correct that Benson did say any sandwich, they obviously knew that they were doing something he wouldn't like...

Besides, as the seasons went by, Benson became less angry because of the maturity that Mordecai and Rigby were already showing.
