    I’m a 71 year old female. I’m the original owner of a 2004 Honda Accord with only 61K miles. Last evening I was positive my headlights weren’t working. There were areas of my route I had to use high beams. When I got home, I discovered they were working but the lens were so cloudy very little light was getting through. I texted some male friends and said they can be cleaned for $100-300. I discovered your video! I have the Mr Clean magic erasers. I just used a couple days ago to clean the white edge of my tennis shoes. I will buy the spray protectant and clean ASAP. Thank you for your excellent tutorial. I have been able to diagnose and fix several problems myself by watching Utube videos. I will let you know how my application goes. Thank you from Dallas

    My finishing touch was an application of "Brasso" metal polish: Rub on, leave to dry, then polish off vigorously with a soft cloth. The result is magic!

    Use a small foam pad on a drill instead of a toothbrush, and you will get much better results. Then put a coat of wax on it and buff it out. When you've done that, use a nano wax product of your choice on the headlights, and follow up with a clean foam pad and you will have the best looking headlights around. Good luck with your restoration project, take care, and stay safe.

      Just get a turtle wax restoration kit and put a lot of clear coating on after your done. The grit paper sands off all of the oxidation and the clear coat protects it from the sun for atleast a year. After any of these in this video you can expect oxidation after 3-6 months. That's why the kit is worth 20$.

I'm waiting for the Sylvania kit to get here, but wanted to start the cleaning process so it'll be less work, and needed something that wouldn't leave residue. I was SO happy using the baking soda method, it was amazing, wish I knew of it earlier. I used a heavy paste and repeated it twice, 5-8 min each. Find out where moisture is entering, repair it.
      drill a small hole in an inconspicuous spot and use a hand held vacuum pump to pull a vacuum and hold it for awhile, this will do two things. It will evacuate moisture
      (same as pulling a vacuum on an a/c system)
      and it will confirm you have fixed your moisture entry leak.
      Remove pump, seal hole immediately with your choice of quick setting sealant.

    • @pegs1659
      @pegs1659 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not quite, but it would be fine never to drink soda again. Our stomach acid pretty much wipes out bad stuff. Can you imagine if our stomach acid was poured on a,rusty nail? It would clean it lol.

    • @paulflack5033
      @paulflack5033 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wrong, lol. You realize our stomachs are full of acid, right? And even in your mouth and throat, you have a constant supply of saliva and mucus that minimize any damage, much less the effects you see on plastic. And If you never brush your teeth with fluoride the sugar from the soda will lead to much more damage than any acid.

    I personally have never been very impressed with the Mr. Clean sponges when compared to results and ease of use with baking soda. Any time I need a soft scrub compound I always use baking soda. Its even great for cleaning hard to scrub spots on the paint. I use it to clean my glass stove top too.

    I tried baking soda+vinegar combo and the results were mind blowing. I also tried the WD40 but it wasn't as long lasting as the former hack. (But the best quick fix!)
    Wil def try the baking soda n vinegar with the hydrogen peroxide next time!!
    Hopefully I can cover the rest of my car as it sort of eroded some of the car paint bc it was so potent

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah, you can use plastic bags to cover the paint. Also once cleaned use some type of wax/polish to protect the headlights. Car wax or metal wax etc...
      Or just try the plastic x which is like $7
      It will make the headlights last longer

    Nice video. These are great hacks, especially if you have hazy headlights and you're going to the car lot to trade in your klunker. The only real way to actually have long lasting results is to sand the headlight lenses with several different grades of sand paper ending up with a 3600 to 4000 grit wet sanding cloth or paper. Then use a special clear coat that does not build up on the lenses.

  • @don8lifemom

    Thanks for being so clear about how to use each product. Some tutorials are too vague. In your opinion, what works best for really old cars? Ours is a 2004 and I need to do something with it!

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If you want an effortlessly method coca cola is a great option. 20 - 30 mins should be good, just make sure to keep the paper towel moist all the time.
      The other good method you can try is the one with the baking soda.
      Or you can do both of this at the same time.
      Start with the coca cola and then to fine tune it, with the baking soda.
      Once the lenses are cleaner, its very important to put some type of sealant or coating to keep them lasting. I actually did mine long time ago and didn't put anything afterwards, but after a few months the lights started to look a lil yellowish (because no protectant)

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      For the protectant you can use a polish. Can be car polish or aluminum polish. This will protect your headlights from uv rays.
      Or you can just use Plastic X from meguiars (I have a link in the description) as a polish. This product is like $7 in walmart, it not only helps to protect but it also cleans.
      Hope, that helps. 👍

      I just use acetone nail polish remover. Makes them crystal clear in one pass. Don't make more than one pass...additional passes cause the fog again. Don't get it on the paint.
