Anyone who knows me from childhood knows I have a strained relationship with my mother. She's a wonderful person, also an unlimited well of knowledge and talents, but her addiction and lifestyle unfortunately hindered her ability to be a parent.
I don't say this to put her business in the air, but so I can exemplify my perspective as a child who is a product of a rough environment. I haven't put this much of my pain into a song that I've released publicly before, so be gentle. I couldn't even find the strength to mix the song, because I wanted to keep the raw emotion in it.
My parents are the reason I treat gang members and drug addicts with the same respect as I treat the janitor and the CEO. I'm grateful for my life and the way I learned the things I know."
