Nice review kabayan. All I can say is that Casio should have not made the new GST close to the Casioak design. It seems that for me, the GST B500 lost it's G-Steel identity.
Agee ako dyan! They may have been doing this to cut costs. And yes it placed itself in the middle of the casioak and gst line. Sometimes the worst thing is the just being in the middle. Mediocre at best.
Also Kabayan, I just noticed today while watching other reviews and watched your review again, that the side push buttons became simple and cheap looking. And they did not even gave it a lower price. I recommend to those who do not have a G-steel, this is a nice option but if you already have the B400, stick with it. For me, it is cooler and more high tech to look at, if you know what I mean, and still has the same features of the B500. Not hating on this new one, just real talk on my end.

Yes Sir. MTGs are definitely better than GST. Higher price but ofcourse, if one can afford it without breaking the bank, for sure, a better choice. Or the MRG line perhaps. But for me, financially, can't go to that one just yet LOL.

in my opinion, the b500 dial resembles 2100, which somewhat reduces the overall impression, and of course, minus the bracelet mount (there is no second hand despite the technology, but at least the size of the watch fits the average person. my choice is the b400, or the expectation of the b600. thanks for the video.
Have you seen the new GA-B2100? It's a GA-2100 but with Bluetooth and solar... so I think they share the same calibre on this new GST-B500 and the new GA-b2100. And thing its great update to the GA‐2100... but now I don't want to pay more for a G-steel with the same calibre.
@@victoriol I made a video about it. It’s not the same module. There are some differences in placement and city configurations. But yes practically the same functions for the rest of the specs. There might also be some differences in the mounting points and battery position but someone needs to take both models apart to confirm that.

GWG 2000 and other watches which made in Thailand have dust on liquid screen, arrow pointer, humidity inside. I returned 5 times gwg 2000. Do you think Casio made in Japan have better quality control than in Thailand?
I’ve had both. They quality barely has any difference. It has more to do with how much is produced of a model. More common models have higher likelihood of QC issues. Limited run models would still have these issues but at a far less frequency. If you really want the best, you’ll have to get the MRG models and anything that’s produced in their premium assembly line.
Nice looking watch but the bluetooth seems a wasted feature. Just phone finder? why not music control? It doesnt seem super cheap for a fashion watch but at least its not the stupid price of the MTG version
I was about to buy this watch, but then I discovered GST-B600D-1A .The GST-B600D-1A is better in all respects in my opinion, but unfortunately it is only available in Japan and you have to pay customs. For people who want a relatively small G Shock made of metal with an analog dial with the digital part in the background, it is probably the better choice. There is no rotary wheel on the left side which disrupts the symmetry.
Looks to me they gradually downgraded the G-steel line feature-wise until reaching parity with the new GMA-B2100 (metal Bluetooth and solar casioaks) line, while at the same time toning down its visual identity, then killed it. The GST-B200 still had a quite impressive big STN-LCD (higher contrast and legibility) display, better 5-position battery level indicator, stopwatch to the 1000th of second, 24h timer, and apparently some bracelet functionality (I read something about it here in the comments). For the same kind of price, you had better technology in the early G-steel than in the new metal casioaks.
I am not sure if i like it. Casio had a smash hit with the oak, but within the last year sooo many releases had relations to the design that i fear for the inovation within Casio. Next step would be a MR-G and i wouldn't be surprised.

I think that Gold IP is calling to me. I have a GST-B400 with the resin band. It's currently my favorite of my G-Shocks. I think I like the dial on B500 more but I actually prefer the angular case of the B400. Being thinner for a G-Shock is always a good thing IMO since I have a below average wrist size. It's a great addition to the G-Shock line...and that Gold for some reason.... But if you want a full metal "CasiOak" people are looking in the wrong place. I feel like the best "CasiOaks" are in Casio's Edifice line of watches. I have an EQB-1100. I feel it's much more deserving of the "CasiOak" title than these G-Shocks.
There’s something that worries me about this watch. The bracelet. Previous G-Steel watches have had solid links in the bracelet… this does not. Maybe that’s not a big deal, but it certainly feels like a step backwards for the line. For that reason (and the lack of a positive display) I’m going to have to pass on this release.
Casio 'downgraded' the GSTB collection with the B500's, true, they are more legible but missed some other features. The case looks old similar to the previous GSTW line. The pushers are "bald", also like the previous GSTW's instead of decorated like the ones in every GSTB. Finally they eliminated the quick release functionality included on the B300's & B400's, true they are no so "easy to change" on the bracelet, but I love to interchange bands. Anyway, as a G-Shock fan, I'll be buying a B500 soon or later. ~Resistance is Futile~😎
Not my cup of cake. It is a serious downgrade: -Cheap pressed steel back, milled on the previous versions. -Hollow links, solid with springbars on the older ones. -Simplistic buttons, they lost the nice finish. -No more quick release, instead using screws in the resin. Durability? -Less Micro adjusts on the bracelet. I’ll pass, a B400 will do for me.
