The drinking of tea is among the greatest of China's contribution to the world. I have been drinking tea daily throughout adult life and have experienced good health from it, especially a stable metabolism (my weight at age 85 never changed). It is necessary to acquire the taste of tea in the natural form without addition of cream or sugar, to avoid negating all the many natural benefits.
This is great! The more documentaries about tea, the better. But unfortunate editing. Whenever they showed footage, there were captions. These were often unrelated or cut-off, and should have been omitted to prevent distraction. :/
There should be a law that all tea must be made using traditional methods. No machines are allowed and only tools made from the clay, wood or stones are allowed. This assures that cultural heritage is maintained and quality flavours and human rhythms are imbued in the finished product. Feel the rhythm of ancient masters in every cup
That would massively increase the costs of tea for everyone, even if it would improve the quality. If you want tea like that you can just find it online and order some, people just dont often do that because it's so much more expensive.
Traditional methods come from a time when tea was only drunk by the higher classes in Asia, monks and those collecting and making the tea. Now it's drunk by everybody, everywhere. It's a nice idea but not at all feasible.
This series is beautiful, thank you for sharing! I do find it entertaining she says it's exhausting picking leaves, because yes it is hard work, but the tea collectors in China are likely in such a peaceful meditative state with the plants they likely don't feel like work. It really reflects the difference between the Eastern and Western mentality of self.
Some people like to read too much into their food. It's like how some wine critics will rant and rave about how amazing high priced wine is, even if you put a low quality wine in a high quality wine's bottle and then serve it to them.

Thank you for creating an English version with Damian Harper! I have always wished for this and now more people will know about tea culture:)
Glad you liked it!
铁观音-Tie Guan Yin, from Fujian, nice opening tea! Peace from Fuzhou, Fujian, China.
If only uncle Iroh could have narrated this.
I was literally singing leaves from the vine before I even opened to the comments
Your comment made my day lol

Thanks for your contribution to this tea documentary in English.
😃Tea culture is very interesting, there is a wonderful Tea Shop in a town where I visit friends and I get Tea there whenever I go to visit.

Great documentary about tea 🍵.
This is beautiful. Ancient, elaborate, and full of flavor; Chinese cultural history is like tea... or is it the other way around?
the shaded tea from the wuyi mountains is similar to some japanese green teas which are too shaded, but kept green
Lovely 😍
Thanks so much for the upload of the series :)
Thank you for watching with us!

It's got abit of a honeyed aftertaste.
thanks for the [captions]. good documentary, coffee has an interesting story too. guy almost died of dehydration so his plant would survive.
4:19 the audio quality dropped fast for that little part. Like they suddenly started recording the voiceover with a cellphone instead of a microphone.

UK stopped this 2 years ago - and now twinnings is undrinkable
What a great film
"This tea is nothing but how leaf juice"
"Uncle, that's what all tea is"
"How could a member of my own family say something say something so horrible"
It is actually "this tea is nothing more than hot leaf juice" but otherwise this should definitely have been here so thank you.
Uncle iron was a real one 😭 by far the best character from Avatar IMO
@@lukemikolite1087 tired of drinking tea? that's like being tired of breathing!

The French tried to do that with wine and then lost to California in a blind taste test lol

orientalism at its finest.
"Atishoo!".
14:00 she just took off the gaiwan's top and drank directly from it lol
There’s nothing wrong with that. Freestyle 👍
that’s a traditional practice
Gaiwan 盖碗 literally means lidded bowl or cup, this is how it was originally meant to be used🍵 a very much alive tradition in for instance Sichuan
that is the traditional way to drink tea. Everyone have a Gaiwan and enjoy it. Nothing wrong here, mate
5:45 sounds like the ultimate hipster brag: "your tea can't even compare to mine, my people were _literally_ born from tea plants!"
