Waitrose price for this is £6, which although it's quite high is still cheaper than a pint in a pub in some cities! I might get a bottle. The 1997 version, (the first one they did), seems to sell for between £350 and £500.
Had one of these in the cupboard for a few months- saving it for christmas. Did this last year and will keep it up each year now. The Mawsons Arms pub at the brewery has closed unfortunately. Was hoping to have it on cask there.. but the bar inside the brewery is still open, if you do visit next year. Cheers.
The Caragold malt in this beer is made by French and Jupps. I work there. They are a family owned business in their 333rd year. Have laid some down for the future.
I've tried other Fuller's beer and so far Asahi seem to have kept the recipes as good as before....I really hope that continues! This looks amazing, I might get a bottle for Christmas a pre Christmas lunch beer!
I’m sad that we can’t get this in the Netherlands. It looks very interesting and I’d like to try this one. The presentation of the beer is amazing! It looks absolutely delicious.
I am going to get a bottle of this because I am intrigued now. I can admit to being hesitant because it's so strong ! I know it is to be drunk and savoured in a particular way, and I have to change my approach. After all I'll have most of a bottle of red wine tonight and will not necessarily want another 4 pints of it ! I am a bit chastened at the moment because I don't really drink too much these days but a couple of months back I bought a Phillips Perfect Draft machine and after enjoying a keg of lager, I got a keg of Leffe Blonde . It was lovely, and I went a bit mad-lad on it one night. I had the worst hang-over in 20 years !!! 🤪
Spot on review Simon. The Vintage Ale series from Fullers is fantastic. They age so well. I'm really looking forward to having the 2022 version in a couple of years time. The year old 2021 is fantastic. Getting better with age. You really need to do the Fullers Brewery tour. Ask for Colin to be your tour guide. Cheers.
Magnificent video buddy I’m a love of fullers beer I’ve had London pride /porter and ESB plus the golden ale. Bit harder to get these vintage ales in Australia
I think the recipe for the vintage ale changes every year so its a different beer every year although still the same style. I think I saw it on a video the craft beer channel did when they visited Fullers. Had a feeling you were going to enjoy this beer!
I buy fullers london pride when am in tescos all the time, just top quality ale and reasonably priced. The one I really want that they don't sell in yorkshire is ESB. I want to try it so bad I love a strong ale. I hate London but I think its got one of the best breweries in britain haha 😄
I aged a fullers vintage ale for about 5 years some time back. I couldn't compare it to just off the shelf but it was rather nice and had taken on a mellow character.
Sadly, I think Fullers have gone to the dogs. They brew most of their stuff now in a big brewery, out Reading direction, not by the Thames. Their on site pub - you have never tasted a better pint of Pride in your life - is now boarded up. The brewery workers used to drink in there after work. The family (Turner, I believe) that sold out to the Japanese now run the pub business just like Mitchell and Butlers etc. with generic beers and the same centrally produced food menu that is massively overpriced.
The Mawsons Arms, Chiswick which was effectively their brewery tap has now closed down permanently. However Fullers are still brewing their beers at their Chiswick location and this years Vintage ale is tasting great. I always buy 4 bottles a year in Waitrose, drink a couple and age the others.
@@WESTMALLEMAN I'll get some of the Vintage. I'm really sorry to see the Mawsons shut down. I can't see why a brewer would shut down that pub. If nothing else, it was a massive advert for the ales they produced. I'll bet it is a contractual dispute between the new owners of the brewery and the Fullers pub business.
I absolutely love these fullers vintage ales, I buy 2 every year, 1 to drink on Christmas day, the other to keep, started doing this in 2009

Best channel on TH-cam. Keep up the good work Si.
Would be interested to see what you thing of Australia's Coopers Vintage Ale. The 2022 version is particularly good.

Im thinking of getting this one. Darn expensive where I am, but I'm convinced.😀

Waitrose used to stock Imperial stout (10.8%) at £8 a bottle
Is it better than their Golden Pride?
Fabulous beer.
Not cheap, but what is in London.
Just got charged £7.00 for a pint of Moretti in a regular pub in North London.

How did you age the beer?
@@rosslogan4154 Vintage ale is a bottle conditioned beer so just a case of leaving really.
@@Ngamer834 Thanks you for getting back. Much appreciated. I must have missed the part where it was explained that it was bottle conditioned.👍
@@rosslogan4154 Cool, you're welcome 🙂
£6 in London. Cheap investment. London Pride 4.7% last I glugged.
It's 6 quid in Waitrose
This looks a tasty brew, I've always been quite a Fuller's fan...
I love this channel.
Really like this Vintage series, but the Vintage IPA is my favourite.
Love your reference to being bad at pricing beers. In my Waitrose this isn't £3.50, it's £6. Close enough Si 🤣
ALDI’s new rheinbacher fest bier is outstanding. £2.99 for a 1 litre glass bottle @ 6.2%
👏
They also got a carbon copy of the peroni reserver (Rossini reserver) 5.9%
Gave me a bad head 😞
I hate the fact I moved to a house that isn't near aldi and I can't drive 😒
@@kylereed9309 where you like I will drop a gallon at your door brother 👊🏼
sounds like a great beer may have to pick one up cheers 🍻
This is £6 in Waitrose, they are the legacy of John Keeling. I've been collecting the for over a decade, drink one, keep one.
I miss the original Fuller's ESB before they sold out to Asahi .
I had 2 bottles of that in my basket then last minuet switched to a bottle of leffe
They didn’t change it
have one from 2021 stil
Saw this in my local Waitrose, but at £7 a bottle I thought not, way to overpriced for the size of the beer.
Just tried it, my whole body is shaking coz of the intensive ugly hops.....you have to be very drunken or get used to it to like it. Never ever again!
Sadly, I think Fullers have gone to the dogs.

I was amazed how many breweries and drink manufacturers that Japanese company own. They own Pilsner in the Czech Rep for one.

No
