Hello there! I've found your channel at just the right time! I have an rgv 250 vj22 thats been sat for ages too, and I'm planning on rebuilding it very soon!! This has spurred me on!😁
Great video shame you had to strip it down must be disheartening but a least it will be perfect after you have got it done looking forward to next video 🇬🇧👍
Hi mate, currently experiencing issues on my vj22 with left cylinder misfiring too. Changed everything including cleaning carbs. How could you tell it was crankcase sealing? Did you do a leak down test?
Hello. When it was running I could see fuel and oil leaking a bit from the crankcase seal. If you can get it running have a look around to see if there’s any leaks from the crankcase. If not there ways you can do a leak test but it’s not easy to do. You would have to make things to block ports. A 2 stroke mechanic near you might be able to check it for you.
I have just got the crankshaft out. All looks good. Bearings ok. Going to change the outer seals. I have spoken to BDK racing and they said the middle seal will be ok. It’s a different type of seal. It’s not your normal seal that rubs on the shaft and wears. They have never needed to change one. Plus the bike has only done 8,000 miles so should be all good.
@@itchingtoride oh ok, its a lab seal. Maybe get a second opinion about changing it,maybe ask shaun at the tuning works. Shame to go this far and not be 100% confident.
Shame about the extra work on the crankcase, that said why did you go to all the trouble of vapour blasting the barrels and having them checked over etc, only to leave the crankcase untouched? Especially when it had the dreaded orange sealant and how import a sealed crankcase is on a 2stoke! Lesson learned there hopefully.

Mate! Can’t believe you had to remove everything to sort the leak 😢 hope everything gets sorted as can’t wait to see and hear her running 🤞🏼
Shame but had to be done. Should be all good now 👍
I would be ok striping it but putting it back together no way. you're a patient man.
You would be ok. There’s a manual to look at if your not sure of something 👍

Might as well have the crank rebuilt. changing that centre seal is a must.
