@@LifeLongSummer It's her saying that while physical pain may hurt, nothing compares to a broken heart. She's not agreeing to be abused. It's showing her desperation to not have her heart broken. It's a poem. She's not actually saying to beat her.
Such a pity to notice your lack of imagination and creativity. I think the thing you call "self-respect" is one of the biggest problems of modern day society. Instead of feeling proud and happy with ourselves we too busy with "not becomming the victim" . I think your reaction is a good example. You so busy with analyzing and questioning the lyrics that you can't seem to enjoy these great artists.
