Thank you a lot for your amazing playing! But now I don't know if I should be inspired by all the emotions in the chaconne or should just quit violin cause I will never be able to play it xD
Thanks for this video! I'll try to apply your tips and see how it works, cause my main technical problems come from my left hand and arm, and in youtube there aren't many videos about this :)
Ray Chen Can you please teach us how to do the LH pizzicato? I’ve been trying to do it for years but haven’t mastered it yet. I really want to learn to play Paganini’s 24th caprice! 🎼🎻🎵🎶
He absolutely is One time I caught him spying on me through my practice room window and while I was playing Wieniawaski I just suddenly heard a strange ghost-like voice through my window saying “BE CALM” over and over again. So I looked out my window saw Ray Chen pressed up against the glass smiling down at me. So I said to him “Hey Ray, what are you doing in my window?” and he smiled and said in reply” Nothing just gardening.” His excuse checked out because suddenly he was holding those hedge shear things. So then I went back to practicing like nothing happened. So yes Ashley he’s probably in your vents but don’t worry he’s probably doing something important like getting dust out of them.
Ray , your left thumb , it’s height and mobility plays a major role against tension. The fact that your left hand action is horizontal, not vertical and that you don‘t press the fingers down hard on the string is also of great importance. Maybe you don‘t notice this yourself, but you would be helping a lot of people if you did a video on these pts. I have seen some left hands and what their teachers taught them is criminal. You wrist is also very flexible. Keep playing beautifully
how to get rid of left hand tension step 1: play chaconne step 2: erase the notes step 3: keep the relaxation you needed to play chaconne step 4: ??? step 5: perfect circle
Hey.. thanks a lot Ray, studied about the flight or fight response during the grad school days..but never realized that that could be linked with playing musical instruments as well !! 👏👏👏👏😊🙋🏻♀️🙏
Thank you so much for addressing this issue!! I'm doing my undergrad thesis on this issue and it urks me to see my students and musicians always pressing unnecessarily too hard. Maybe this video could be my literature review 👀👀👀
Oh man, thats so true...I had a solo at brass ensemble and my right hand shaked so hard that i was not able to play the TRUMPET, i mean you have to press buttons so wtf. It was for 7 minutes so i was crying dam hard after this concert. But on the next day i definitly nailed it
Thank you for the practice tip!! I'm excited to try it! I'm a flutist, so the specific locations of my problems under stress aren't the same, but I'd think the same principles apply. Rewiring our brain is key. Definitely a process that requires work, but how amazing is it that we can even do that? Thanks again!
What about tensing my neck and left arm? I've tried paying and not paying attention to it, it still tenses. Not so much during exercises, but during pieces...
F**k off dude it’s even beautiful than it has ever been played by anyone. Historically, he’s the first human to ever interpret Chaconne better than anyone since the Bach himself. We don’t even know how even himself would interpret this so Ray Chen’s Chaconne is always #1

Got the notification for this while my left hand was cramping during practice. Are you hiding in my vents, Ray Chen? 🤣
He absolutely is

I don’t play an instrument, but that was great advice applicable to many life situations. Nice!

It's awesome that he's so skillful but also a genuinely friendly individual.

@@TheTucsonJeff ray chen.. He is my favorite violinist
The Chaconne ... sublime! Thanks, and for the tip for helping left-hand tension.
I found myself having left hand tension literally yesterday, then this shows up in my sub box! thank you! :)
Wow best interpretation of the Chaconne I've heard in 10/11 years (since I've heard Itzahk Perlman's).
how to get rid of left hand tension

step 3: keep the relaxation you needed to play chaconne

I am going to try this with my fast passages of E minor Mendelssohn thanks Ray!
Astonishing sound! OMG 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 you're incredible. Thanks for your music!
Thank you ray this was genuinely helpful! I have really small fingers and they're always tense.
Syncope listening. Best etude.
0:53 Hahahaha,this is fine😂
I wish I could play chaconne like that
I love the way you play the 64th note section in the Chaconne, I still can't figure out how you do it.
So beautiful and amazing play music

Thanks a lot Ray!It helps and it's fun♡
I feels better. Thank you!
Thank you Ray!
I like this guy
My left hand tenses even on easy passages 😂
I was prepared to watch the entire 13 mins and 21 secs long video
I’m playing the symphonie español by Lalo and need to get rid a lot of left hand tension so my vibrato is rich when I play the movements
Thank you!! Very helpful :D
I thought it was gonna be a trick when you end the video so soon but it really was just the whole performance XD
the chaconne is so good
What about tensing my neck and left arm? I've tried paying and not paying attention to it, it still tenses. Not so much during exercises, but during pieces...
than you for listening to what we are watching
Thanks Ray
That was the best thing ever
Is the intro Ray's playing from the Mendelssohn violin concerto?
Holy moly how long are your fingers I-
Hello why in some videos you hold the bow in a Franco way and in others in a Russian way? what is your favorite way?
Anyone know what type of chin rest? Somehow I intuit that type would be ideal for me.
What is the first piece that ray play? Help me someone pls
Wienawski 8 Etudes-Caprices No. 4 in A minor Op. 18
I will hate you forever for that intro. Goddamn you Ray.
Also thank you for this video. Big fan, especially of your Mendelssohn.
I have problem relaxing my right hand whenever i play spiccato or upbow staccato 😢

Name of piece at starting video???
Your chaconne sounds very crunchy
Yea muddy crunchy uneven disconnected and uncomfortable

bach chaconne, you can listen to it on ray chen’s virtuoso album!!
Ray: Don't panic
Me: DON'T PANIC DON'T PANIC DON'T PANIC DON'T PANIC DON'T PANIC

Porque não ativa as legendas!!??

James Warburton lol
HAHAHAHAHAHHA GOTCHA
❤️
Bruh I put my instrument down and lay down on my bed and everything and I just got trolled
Got trolled by his interpretation of the beautiful Bach chaconne
Wow that was short
Well yes but actually no
Why a 2 min masterclass in a 13min video
ok
9:54 :(
Does anyone know the outcome of the experiment? Was monetization much better since the video exceeded 10 mins?
You are mad lad, you kept the video longer by adding 5 minutes of chaconne.
