I don't think changing to survival was a bad idea, when i watch other youtubers that play hardcore i always have a weird feeling that the world gets lost, even though it isn't mine. That's one of the reasons i like people like mogswamp and you, because on your and other people's survival worlds I don't have to be scared that the series discontinues :D

For those who dont know how to change a worlds data You to to %appdata% /.minecraft /saves and click ur world find the 2 .dat folders 1 is level.dat 2 is in the folder playerdata and u edit them both with the same info and u downloaded the files and then add them to ur folders and replace the old ones and boom. U can also give items.enchant , repair and do more with the nbt editor

You can save your hardcore world after you die. Once you die in hardcore you can open your world to LAN and click the allow cheats button. Then you will have access to cheats, and you can set your gamemode to survival. Once you restart your game you will still be alive but the gamemode will still be hardcore.
