Once your army with the Marines has replenished, you should ship them south to help with the conquest of Mexico City. Obviously no one's heading to Tripoli for a while, but you can check off the Halls of Montezuma now.

I have noticed in my time playing empire that in auto resolves a good general or admiral does a big difference also when you kick the British out of the Americas you should try to sue for peace. Their navy is to big for you t deal with.

    From The Sea, pt 2.
The battle for Montreal has occurred. Hudders fought like a devil to protect his home. The thunder of artillery is something I wish not on anyone. The long riflemen aided us during the fight thankfully. Unfortunately second company broke during the fighting. General Caret wasn't too pleased with it, but dealt with it privately. Sergeant Zachariah Douglas died during a scuffle with the damned Redcoats. He was a good man. As soon as we get reinforcements, Caret wants us to move out.

    Sergeant Johnathan Jackson
    Continental marines
    To family, New York
“We encountered a British army today. I don’t know if it was stupidity, mismanagement, or the general doesn’t like the cut of Marine gib, but the left flank, my flank, our flank was left almost completely unsupported the cavalry was pulled over to the right the canons too focused on keeping the British off themselves to care about us. We were out numbered around two to one against regulars and cavalry when our own cavalry came to our aid they were about as useful as an ox on a ranch but at least they came James, William, and all the rest are dead my only childhood friends to survive were Jack Malone and Bruce Douglas imagine the the Irishman, the Scot, and an Englishman sounds like the start to a bad bar joke and well I suppose we should start calling them corporals we all got promoted those that survived anyway nearly everyone in the unit is an officer now with how few of us their are left it’s not hard to believe, but those darn Delaware boys seem to think that they are the top dogs because they got to most kills. Hiding between two batteries of canons all save in their shell of death. I also hear we’re going to get special names the whole army and I hear Devil Dogs is on the table I hope we get it seeing as we were the only ones on the left who stood their ground

You should use units cover more, the little tree emblem let’s you know a unit is hidden. Put them in a spot hidden and don’t move em till it’s time. Hold till last second. Use your rifleman and rangers. Rifleman can shoot 170. Rangers 120. Put em in skirmish mode, keep em hidden in trees or grasses. Once their main line makes contact hit em in flanks from long range with skirmishes. Or place them on a hill behind your main line. They can shoot over heads and are lethal when paired up with line infantry

Letter from Private James Rogers of 4th U.S Infantry Company C to his younger brother Jack
    “Dear Jack,
We have enter Texas now. John,Samuel, and I were the first American Soldiers to enter Texas. We meet some of the people who live here. They barely speaks English but one of the staff officers name Nathan Robertson took spanish at West Point. He help us trade for food and get directions though the land. As the army marched through the little town I was up front on horseback and saw a little boy standing but his doorway smiling and waving.
General Stibbert order a meeting of all of the staff and companies officers. He asked how the march was going on the men. Everyone report back little bit of complains and one Company officer ask the General where are marching to and the General did not say anything and shook his head as he looked at the a map on the table and dismissed us. He called for me and John to stay behind for minute and also asked for Major Lee for the 4th to stay as well.
He ordered us to stand at attention and had Major Lee stand next to him and the General started to speak “You two have shown what it takes to be a commissioned officer in this army. It will great honor for me and Major Lee to give you both a commission as a First Lieutenant in the U.S Army. Now raise your right hand and repeat after Major Lee”
Major Lee stepped forward and repair the General and said the following and this what I said “I, James Roger , appointed a First Lieutenant in the Army of the United States, do solemnly swear, or affirm, that I will bear true allegiance to the United States of America, and that I will serve them honestly and faithfully against all their enemies or opposers whatsoever, and observe and obey the orders of the President of the United States, and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to the rules and articles for the government of the Armies of the United States."
Major Lee stuck his and out and said “Congratulations First Lieutenant Rogers” he did the same to John and we were dismissed and had to go down the Quartermaster to get our new ranks. We are now camp somewhere on an open plain in Texas.
    Until I write again.
    Your Brother
    James Rogers
    First Lieutenant
4th U.S Infantry Company C, Dispatched to General Stibbert ’s bodyguard, General Hugh Stibbert ’s Army”

A letter from Sergeant Jōzəf Krimbeck 3rd Regiment, New York Light Dragoons K Company to his father.
    Mein lieber Vater
I am sorry for the short letters as of late, but the march has been long and hard. Ever since we left friendly territory we have been skirmishing with the Spanish. They have tried to gage the size of our force but have been unable to get around our calvary screen. Yesterday we overran one of their outposts and captured a boon of intelligence. The Spanish are extremely confused by our maneuvers and currently believe we have sent a large calvary force with light cannons to burn through their territory. Their major armies had been ordered to hold their grounds and not see an engagement with us. Thus we were able to encircle and destroy several companies that were guarding rivier fords or manning small forts. When we hit the first major army, my Company led our Regiment in encircling it cutting it’ lines of supply and preventing reinforcements. While we were occupied blocking positions I could hear the battle ensue, our forces overwhelmed them with a numerical superiority in both Cannon, Calvary and Infantry. The Defenders of the city still mistakenly believed they were dealing with a large Calvary force until they were shelled. To the credit of the defending general he didn’t hide instead his forces attempted a desperate charge. His logic being that since we had quick marched so far, that perhaps he could catch us tired and flat footed. His hopes were quickly dashed, survivors of that charge were routed a majority of those not killed surrenders. The ones that escaped showed their better use of the terrain in evading us and linking up with the forces in the settlement’s capital.
Thus the city we’re currently outside of is fully aware we’re here, furthermore the scattered bits of the last army that managed to escape is trying to use indian tactics against us. Thus our army has had to divide, one half marching here, the other destroying the remnants of that force. While it’s not our fault the General was not happy that we didn't know of these escape routes and bock them. So right now I find myself sitting next to my mount awaiting orders to start the engagement which will determine the fate of this region. I will write you tomorrow once this battle is decided one way or another.
    Your Son

I am really enjoying this, even took up playing this game again although I have my own homemade mod, but it is nothing I can share.
Basically I wanted to make it so completing research of Fire By Rank made units with 70 range muskets would be upgradeable to 90 range light infantry muskets. (this would be fairly expensive, like more than the original recruitment cost as the unit also needs re-training in maintaining and using the new weapon)
When you then got the percussion cap, you could upgrade all units to rifle units with 125 range.
(this would be very expensive and something you probably reserved for guard units, named special units and highly experienced line units say 4x - 5x the cost of recruitmet depending on the unit, 4x for line and 5x for guard or named units)
Sadly I have little skill/luck in modding that in so I made it the painstakingly slow and crude way.
I had 3 mod packs : Early, Mid and Late. And basically each of them I had changed the projectile, equipment and animations (when it came to rifles at least as they are reloaded differently than muzzle loaders) for every single bloody unit in the game.
But that only made it so Everyone got the benefit directly, for free, no upgrade cost, and not when they individually got the tech, everyone got it when I got the tech.
And it was not really research based, I had to save and quit the game, switch packs, change the script
before returning to now every unit upgraded. :S not really my intention.
(I don't use the mod manager since it is a tool for ppl who don't know how to or are too lazy to make a user.script)
I have been trying and trying since about 8 months after the game came out..
I am trying everywhere for inspiration or suggestions.
    Including here.. pleaaaase heeeelp!

    • @BarinadeCo
      @BarinadeCo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm not a modder but... I think what you want should be possible. IIRC the middle bayonet research affects reloading speed of all units whether or not they have equipped the bayonets. If that is true you should be able to look at that and use that as a baseline for how to make a tech affect a stat for all units. That's my recommendation at least

    • @MrWeedWacky
      @MrWeedWacky 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@BarinadeCo Sadly that is just a base effect added in a table of tech_effects.
I even tried if it could be more in the line of how you unlock shrapnel shot for artillery, but that didn't work either.

@Stuart Donnelly For me, it feels like Lime is really inaccurate, but when it does hit, its deadly as hell. I remember instances where I've made full strength enemy line units break after getting hit ONCE or TWICE with Lime. I would be stunned staring at enemy units that lost over a hundred men from just ONE Lime shot. One of the craziest sights I've seen playing Empire. A fun way to melt away enemy regiments for sure.
