Appreciate your reaction and your openness about your faith. This is another Australian singer who was an Aborigine named Gurrumul. His song is in his native tongue about a bird that reminds him of his home. It’s in his language but I think that the heart of what he is saying comes across: th-cam.com/video/MNBTT20aDlQ/w-d-xo.html

I did this song with a band back in the early 90s. My wife was in the crowd and hear people behind her say I did it better than John. Of course, I don't believe them. No one does it better than John. I'ts a great song to sing, and although it isn't too high for me, trying to sing it clearly at that range is so hard on the diaphragm, you have to be very fit. Because I've been a singer, with the same range as John, I can truly appreciate how phonominal he really is. He does it all so effortlessly. It's sad we have to all get old.
I head him live when he was 70, and he sounded exactly the same. Never missed a note.

I seriously doubt that anyone could sing this better than John Farnham. Tina Turna covered this version and it was a great version but it was not as good as Johns performance. This guy has the soul of a black singer.

Hi Christian. Finally a TH-cam reactor who probably knows what the Garden of Gethsemane was and its place in the timeline of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. So many reactors who can talk about gospel music don't know about that week. If you really want to hear John's musicality and range watch John sing Gethsemane. It was recorded on the closing night of J.C.Superstar in Sydney in March 1992 and I was there. I still get goosebumps and feel the anguish to my core every time I see & hear that Imagined conversation with God. I've seen 4 or 5 productions of JC Superstar over the decades including London, but John playing Christ is my favourite. God bless,

This is a rearrangement of the Beatles Help. Released January 1980, Lennon heard it and said it was the best arrangement of his song. 11 months later Lennon was shot by Hinckley.

John has 100s of amazing songs and each one is as good I'd not better than the rest. He is now 72 years old and he still hits every note perfectly. 3 years ago Celine Dion was playing in Melbourne and the one thing she requested was to meet and sing THE VOICE with John. She knew of him and was in awe of his amazing voice. It was fantastic to watch her being so thrilled to meet him. John is a totally humble man who is so beloved by Australians and who for years packed concert venues with his band and in every city he would have to add more concerts to cater for the 1000s of fans who were so desperate to see him. One song that he sings and that shows his talent is PLEASE DONT ASK ME .

An extraordinary talent. The other amazing thing about this video is the end of his song where he says "Thank You Melbourne, good night, be careful". This was his encore performance, the last song of the night, after 2 and a half hours of singing, and he can still BELT OUT a number with such force, but also such precision.

This song is very real to John. After having a teeny bopper hit in the sixties, he seemed to go nowhere. He was broke for many years, and severely depressed. His friend and manager mortgaged his house for John to bring out a new album called Whispering Jack, and the rest is history. His cover of Black Dog is awesome too.

I've been to 2 concerts in my life (not counting the kid's school stuff), and both were John Farnham's. One an intimate 400 people, the other 7 or 8,000. Both with me & the Mrs in the front 10 rows. The man does not need a microphone. You can see him move the mic away from himself so he doesn't overpower it.
Definitely a God-given talent, with a lot of hard work & (believe it or not) ups & downs in his career.
Never more than a one-hit-wonder in the US of A... I have no idea why y'all didn't pick up on him.

John's range is Insane. From "Jesus Christ Super Star" (Gethsemane) to Led Zeppelin "Black Dog". The strange Phenomenon is that he uses Black Dog as a voice "Warm Up" and "Band Sound Check" Session.
He's is a Freaking Machine! Charlie Smith says that he is an Alien from another Planet.

If you love farnesy (thats his nickname) you will love Jimmy Barnes or Cold Chisel... hes just as big an icon as John is..
Also try these; Human nature, crowded house, INXS, midnight oil, baby animals, tina arena, men at work, plus loads more...

John Farnham was at his best in the late 1980's. One of the best songs was 'When the War was Over' especially thev1988 version with Jimmy Barnes', Most of his Whispering Jack songs were goid. 'Touch of Paradise' with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra was great. His solo again, with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra 'Please Don't Ask Me'. John Farnham's solo concert performances in the late 1980's, also with the 'Little River Band' (Cool Change and Reminiscing) during the 1980's were all good.

John's rendition of the Beatles song written by the late John Lennon, after getting permission to sing it, it was viewed by John Lennon and he remarked back that it was better than his own version, and that that was what he originally planned for the song. He was very impressed. John Farnham was the King of Pop and started out in the 1960s with SADIE THE CLEANING LADY. The B/W version from the show in Australia called BANDSTAND is on youtube. He was born in England in 1949 and came to Melbourne, Victoria in 1959 at 10 years of age. He was good friends with Olivia Newton John over the years. Olivia had a similar history. Born in England in 1948 and came out to Melbourne at 3 years of age. She started her singing career on the same show in the 1960s. They have worked on duets over the years. One being on YT called DARE TO DREAM and they did it at the opening ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

The John Farnham rabbit hole runs very deep. It really doesn't matter what you cover as long as it was a live performance. I would suggest Angels th-cam.com/video/5_2NJRIdBO8/w-d-xo.html or Chain Reaction th-cam.com/video/xWGXmWB4tKQ/w-d-xo.html

G’Day mate just subbed, I can see from your reaction you appreciate John’s Talent “ The Voice” as he is known in Australia. He squeezes every bit of emotion out of his songs.
    A National Treasure. Try Freedom,
Banners Fall , You’re the Voice , Burn for you, touch of paradise, the simple life, just to name a few.
    Live are the best .

Mate, glad you enjoyed John’s version of Help, love watching people react when they first hear & you didn’t disappoint. I sent a suggestion & a link in your last John Farnham reaction, the song is We’re No Angels. I think you will love it. All the best & God bless ❤️🇦🇺

This is a Beatles song ... apparently when John Lennon first heard this version he was stoked ... Then, Tina Turner copied it 🤷‍♀️

Brian Cadd has a great song from the 70's in Australia which was in tbe top 40 called Show Me The Way, which is a very soulful ballad worth listening to. Also, Sister Mary Meas did a rock version around the same time of The Lord's Prayer which also did well.

This is actually a slow version of The Beatles song Help. The way Paul McCartney wanted to sing it but the record company didn't want a slow song...🤨

Hi! New subscriber here from Down Under! I’ve just learned that John has never had any voice lessons and I don’t think he can read music either! He was totally blessed from God with an amazing voice! Not only that he is a lovely guy! There is a video of him with Anthony Warlow at a show called The Main Event! Not only is it amazing, they are quite funny together! Anthony Warlow is an Australian Opera singer! He was in Phantom of the Opera! As you know God is AMAZING! We have a grand son who was IVF first time! They had been trying for 4 years! I know that our Lord God is amazing and that little boy is proof! God Bless! Greetings from Australia.
