  • Amazon parrot is the common name for a parrot of the genus Amazona. These are medium-sized parrots native to the New World ranging from South America to Mexico and the Caribbean.
Most Amazon parrots are predominantly green, with accenting colors that depend on the species and can be quite vivid. They feed primarily on seeds, nuts, and fruits, supplemented by leafy matter.
Many amazon parrots have a remarkable ability to mimic human speech and other sounds. Partly because of this, they are popular as pets or companion parrots, and a small industry has developed in breeding parrots in captivity for this market. This popularity has led to many parrots being taken from the wild to the extent that some species have become threatened. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora treaty has made the capture of wild parrots for the pet trade illegal in an attempt to help protect wild populations
All species of Amazon parrots are long-lived as most large birds are. You can expect a healthy Amazon to live around 50 years or even longer with good nutrition and care, so plan accordingly.

Please, tell me how better to hold as a pet, one or one pair of blue fronted amazon? I have a boy (near 4 years old ) and recent i got an 8 months old girl for him. In the last few weeks, he's become aggressive towards me. Will it be permanent or shortly? What am I supposed to do to keep him on my side? Thanks! I am very anxious and nervous about his attitude and I would like to know if he will return to me as he was before or not. What should I do? I am a poor old man who has in this world only a parrot and a few dollars a day, the vets ask me many hundreds of dollars for a little advice. Please can someone help me with a free advice. Thank you !

One of the reasons may be that the male has attained maturity and is trying to attract the female, hence the aggression. As larger parrots tend to get aggressive during the breeding period.
But since your female is very young DO NOT give them a chance to breed. If both of them are hand-tamed try keeping them in separate cages and interact with them separately.

@@Pets4life2017 Thanks a lot ! I separated the female in another room (now she is for sale), after a few days I started approaching him. Now, after a few weeks, he has returned to normal. I will only hold him as a pet.
