When I was a kid, Debbie Jo creeped the shit out of me. This episode reminded me of "The Exorcist", "The Amityville Horror", and that TV movie "Don't Go to Sleep" (1982). There's something about a "little white girl with an imaginary friend" that makes me think they're talking to real ghosts or demons, who tell them to kill off the rest of their family. By the time I got to 17:19 I was totally rooting for the the Chief. Watching him tear Debbie Joe apart was probably the satisfying thing I ever saw as a child. I was like, "Yeah! Kill it! Kill it before she kills you! Satan, begone!".
Lara Jill Miller was 15 when this episode was recorded and it shows. Lara being older than preteen tomboy Sam worked in Season 1 but by season 2 they were still playing Sam as a young girl (who was still too old for an imaginary friend) rather than the young teen that Lara should have been portraying.
