They probably changed it to in order to prevent confusion just in-case of Blue Kirby partaking his quest as Player 3.

The ice-ability was so underwhelming in The Amazing Mirror and Kirby Squeak Squad, since they completely removed the Freeze ability without even repurposing it as an alternate move for Ice called "Ice Storm". But i'm glad that HAL and/or Nintendo recovered this move in later games.
Also, I love how Battle Royale added alternate-headgears for each copy-ability that was present in that game, with Freeze's winter-coat (aka Popo's blue parka) being an actual option for Kirby's Ice outfit! This franchise should do that more often throughout Kirby's current modern-era.

@@back_the_bone No what I meant is that i am surprised the Fire and Ice combination actually killed an enemy fire and ice is considered the worst fusion combination in the game so I am surprised it did anything at all.

Kirby Ice: After Kirby inhales ice, enemies with ice powers and anything similar, Kirby obtains the power of ice, where his skin turns into ice, and Kirby gains a crown with ice crystals, Kirby will be able to manipulate this element of ice. Any way you want, you will be able to manipulate Ice, Snow Water, negative temperatures and any of their derivatives, Kirby easily passes Absolute Zero with this ability, he was able to freeze a volcano with this ability, there is nothing that Kirby is not capable of Freeze.
Attacks:
Freezing Breath: Kirby blows a cold cloud at enemies, an icy cone made up of water drops and ice crystals, freezing any enemy, Kirby is capable of extinguishing even stars with this freezing air.
Ice Sprinkler: Kirby releases snowflakes into the air as he spins, quickly freezing surrounding enemies.
Ice Storm: Perhaps the strongest attack, Kirby molds a huge ice storm around him, quickly freezing any enemy around him, it's a defense and attack at the same time.
Ice Block: Kirby freezes himself, wrapping a block of ice around him, with this ability, Kirby defends himself from absolutely any enemy attack, and of course, if Kirby thaws, he launches ice shards at anyone around him.
Ice Ball: Kirby freezes himself again, but this time, wrapping himself in a sphere of ice, launching it at full speed at his enemies, while Kirby is in this sphere, nothing will affect him, in addition to Kirby using a speed attack that passes through any layer, freezing everything that comes into contact with it.
Ice barrier: Kirby uses this attack in Kirby battle royale, where he can manipulate ice to the point of making ice structures surrounding the enemy within it, or using it for defense.
Ice Suction: Kirby can inhale enemies, trapping and freezing them at immeasurably negative temperatures, then dispersing them completely transformed into ice crystals.
Snow Bowl: Kirby with the enhanced ice power, Snow Bowl Kirby, is capable of transforming into an avalanche, at high speed, this avalanche with temperatures below zero is capable of freezing everything it runs over in its path, transforming into more ice, and increasing the avalanche, Kirby with this power was able to freeze a volcano, in addition to being able to extinguish even stars!
Kirby with this power is amazing, a skill that is truly beyond comprehension

Ice Suction from Wii is a cool idea I wish they would have brought back.
Kirby skating when dashing is pretty. Not as much as Mirror Kirby but it get second place.
