    😂 actually, Jamaicans 🇯🇲 and Dominicans 🇩🇴 are very much alike! Dominicans do all the same things Jamaicans do. Point with the mouth, open a can with a knife (even if we have a can opener), not using China wear, and everything else! My husband is Jamaican and I’m Dominican, I guess thats why we get along so well! Great video ladies! Thank you!!

    One word that makes a whole sentence……… eehee. Another phrase common to Jamaicans is “yuh lie”. Btw, I went to immaculate boarding school and graduated in 1984, I remember sister Mary, sister Maureen Claire, sister Emanuel, and sister James Vincent vividly

    I'm Italian-American. I do the first one. Also, many people in NYC park in their garages. The only reason why they might not is because their houses are small. They may not have an attic or basement, so they store their belongings in the garage.

    People from the V.I. also do a lot of mouth pointing and teeth sucking. Yardies also like to refer to people by their profession. "Who ya talk bout, carpenter"? Also, your sister in the red shirt looks like she's in her 30's not 50's. Thanks for sharing!

    I remember a man in the district who was deaf and dumb and everyone called him "dummie", we never knew what his real name was. I was called dry head because I had short hair, I wasn't amused and up to this day I have a phobia about my hair.

    • @CountryWhiteJamaican
      @CountryWhiteJamaican  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes people tough up to appear to be OK but some are scarred from the names for sure! Nuff love!

    • @normacoote9856
      @normacoote9856 ปีที่แล้ว

      As Melanie said, if you were called a name that you didn’t like just accept it because if you got angry the name stuck faster The easier you were is the kinder they might be as regards to nick name…

    I'm Jamaican and I've seen Filipino's point with there lips too! Facts. Also,Italians throughout the 70's and 80's saved there China for guest only and keep the plastic on the furniture.Facts! As Jamaicans we need to travel and understand other countries have similar cultures too.Title of the video should read," Things Jamaicans do and say".

    Only Jamaicans double up a word for emphasis.
    For instance, if they think you're silly...You're "fool-fool". Eg. "What a fool-fool bwoy".
    If a child cries a lot....They're a "Cry-Cry" kid. Eg. "What a way de pickney cry-cry".
    If you talk about people behind their back..You are talking "Su-Su". Eg. "Don't trust dem. Dem wi su-su pon you".
    If something is a mess...It's "Chacka-Chacka". Eg. "What a way yu room look chacka-chacka. Yu fi tidy it up".
    Others are "Fenkey-Fenkey"; "Muss-Muss"; Girly-Girly"; "Picky-Picky"..
    We have too many to mention or remember. 😆

    Please, please please do a session on process v. results. A man getting fired will say. "I was at work on time, nice to everyone and you say I am non-productive. no sa!" But you didn't sell our product." Get dressed v. put on your clothes" rest stop v. lay bye. Put clothes of to dry v. put them out to sun.
