First time fishing Lake Washington, Melbourne Florida

- On this day I found some fish thanks to Steve aka Howabouthetruth.
I got stopped by FWC (nothing new) and I find out its slow fishing everywhere.

Hey I forgot to mention: Lake Washington is right about 4,000 acres, plus or minus. It's about 4 miles long north to south, and roughly 1 mile wide.
Oh wow. What a surprise all around. I think it's my first time ever ( in 8 years of watching youtube ) to be the first to view a video, like, and comment........and also find out I'm being thanked in the video, for sharing fishing info....LOL. You're very welcome Chris. Yep, that's the exact area alright. IF by chance you can time it right when the bass have herded the shad into that exact spot, they will go crazy on the top for a little while. I've seen em bust shad clean out of the water in that very spot a few times. When that happens, you can hook a bass on almost every cast. But it doesn't last long. Dog days of summer sure ain't helpin' matters. Now you might find them in similar looking areas around the lake, but this is the only spot that has worked for me in the past 6 weeks. ALSO..........try out the south end of the lake, right at the mouth of the St Johns river. Get about 40 feet at the most off of that thick, grassy point of land that makes up one side of the river emptying into the lake, and fish that river channel and around it. I do catch a few there.......but not as often as the other spot. I would think the mouth of the river there would be better. ( Now go watch my video on YT ch: Lunker012......lol. To get there before the heat comes on, which is pretty early right now. But I'm sure you already know that. Good luck!

is it a safe place to back fish.... meaning, am I gonna get mugged if I bank fish
yeah its safe! there's not much to fish from the bank though. Only place I'm aware of is right at the ramp.

Its tough trying to bank fish the lakes around here. Either you get kicked out from a pond or there's no land to fish actual lakes. Have you tried fishing Fellsmere reservoir (headwaters) and stick marsh from the bank. You should do pretty well there! You can walk down that levee that divides the two.

@@ChrisMitchellFishing going over to Melbourne camping for the next couple of weekends and thought I’d try it. I’m Fishing the KBF state challenge tournament so I’m trying work in a little fishing during vacation with the wife. I’ll let you know how I do.

@@ChrisMitchellFishing made it out there Saturday May 8th. I was glad to see the water stained and dug through my worm bag and found some Houdini Chartreuse speed worms. Put in about 5 hours and managed around 25 fish between 13-17” nothing big but enjoyed getting bit often. Found them on clumps of grass and the lay down wood at the south end by the mouth of the river. Slow rolling the speed worm around the wood and isolated grass clumps. I’LL definitely be back!
