    I have family members, one who is an MD, think I am lazy and sleep all day. It's very hurtful.

    I left hospital fending for myself, too fatigued to design a routine, to tried to shop & cook, if I remembered to clean teeth in the morning I would need to go back to bed exhausted - If you have no one to care/overseer to implement these tips you mentioned you remain in a blur, unable to make a decision plus people think your drunk when you try to communicate with them - Having no care/family to support made it impossible to manage!

      @@UtahNeuroRehabilitation No there is not, it seems everyone thinks someone else should help so they do not bother, also I've found friends, people, in general, do not understand/comprehend the depth and longevity that fatigue impacts on an individual.

      Carolyn Treadwell I’m so sorry I have a brain injury as well and it’s absolutely horrible I don’t know how to heal because I also have a skin disorder called MRSA-So I’m itchy all the time and I have little red bumps in my scalp and I’m tired Every single day and I’m so thankful I have a husband who looks after me but the poor man is overburdened and I feel so bad for not being able to be healthy enough to help. Do you live in the states or Canada? Because maybe there’s a nonprofit agency or a health agency or a mental health agency that can help you?

    Excellent. this describes me exactly after I got hit bya car crossing the street. I use to have so much energy and now I'm constantly tired

      completely agree......you learn to manage it and even enjoy the loopy ride but it never goes away. And it is patient, it waits and then attacks.....it's a shitty way to live but at least we're alive..stay strong

    Was hit by a car cycling.
    And had a brain operation.
    But still suffer from headaches nonstop.
    The more i train the more headaches i get .

      Go to a neurologist. Get something for migraines. "Aimovig" is a monthly injection. There is another Rx :Sumatriptan tablets, injection or nasal spray or all together to clear migraine attack, or Naratriptan. Hydrate, drink plenty of water (spring/filtered pure water) Get Vitamin B12 and Omega 3 and Vitamin D3. There are also "cranio-sacral chiropractors" as well as acupuncture for help with what sounds to be migraines you are experiencing.

    Great information, when I had my TBI no information, help or support was available. Learned by finding out what i could and could not do anymore, been on a very steep learning curve and learned a lot by self-education and ways to regain my memory back through using certain supplements, learning about neuro-plasticity, brain entrainment etc etc. became an expert in how to heal and recover from TBI now haha!

    For all survivors .it WILL get easier...it may not get "better" and you probably will never be like the one you were before TBI,but it WILL get EASIER! you will become more adapted to the new you,you will know your limitations and you will love yourself much more! I'm 23 years postTBI,and I only just this year started suffering from severe fatigue,and I've returned to work in 2015,but find that my brain can not work full time hours without a "brain break and functional schedule"! BUT at least I can work!! :) LISTEN TO THESE LADIES...TAKE BRAIN BREAKS EVEN IF YOU DONT FEEL FATIGUE,JUST GIVE YOUR BRAIN A BREAK! And I absolutely love the idea of setting goals! I'm a note taker by nature and I am constantly making little notes for things I need to get done,goals for the day, but I often find myself setting unreachable goals,so dont be like me LOL these ladies give really good advice,listen to them :)

      Sorry, but I haven't found it any easier after six years of trying every strategy I have come across. My physical condition continues to deteriorate because I can't exercise due to fatigue.

I'm really relying a lot on nutrition to help keep me energized and focused now... it's been 25 years for me now, still going strong, still not giving up... moving forward and recognizing the brain break signs...I really don't have an issue with fatigue, never really have... Def need to exercise A LOT more, eat a lot healthier and get much better sleep tho lol how are you doing??

    9 years since I acquired a TBI and fatigue is still a major problem for me. I definitely overdid things during my early recovery. I wanted to be "back to normal" so badly I sabotaged my recovery. I often wonder if that's a factor as to why I still suffer chronic fatigue? 🤔

    I have an injury all those symptoms and no family support..no support at all. I feel I can not go back to work my head burns I am always exhausted. What to do when you are alone and you have to survive?

      You may be eligible for disability. Get to your social security office with a doctors diagnosis of tbi. A neurologist is best for documentation. Good luck. Be well.

    Can you struggle with fatigue and other stuff even though the accident (severe concussion) happened 7 years ago? I've never talked to the doctor about it...

      Absolutely. This stuff can last a long time. Working on setting up structure in your life and taking brain breaks through the day can help.

    does this apply to stroke? i agree with having coping mechanisms and brain breaks, but i feel like it's foolish to say things like "recovery" because after the first few months, i haven't improved at all (stroke was 5 years ago). I used to teach advanced placement Economics, now there's no way i can imagine even sitting in a classroom, it would drive me nuts.

    I thought I had ptsd post deployment only to find out later I have a mild tbi which has affected my life dramatically and my behavior is very erratic and I have extreme bipolar disorder

      I may be wrong, but I think what Brett is saying is, her schedule on getting back on track, back to work, back to school etc, is all too much. I also have TBI. And there is no way to schedule fatigue, each day is different. So in order to try and manage fatigue on a schedule is impossible. There in no way to do what she is asking us to do. Not for anyone I know that has TBI at least.

      Live demands I act within its time frame (bills, appointments etc) while I'm in need it to stop for a did so I can gather my thoughts but it will not wait for me. Lonely and isolated in my daze!

    Thank you for this post but I was put into an induced coma in the hospital because I was assaulted by a mentally ill person. They said that I had brain injuries on the MRI but I’ve honestly been so tired that I can’t even function and I don’t know whether it’s from the broken bones in my eyes because my eyesight is a bit crooked now, or if it’s from being on a breathing machine for too long? Because I came out of therapy and they said I did not have any brain injury that they could see and when I got home I was so tired I could barely function. Does anybody know why this might be?

      What you went through is really hard on a body. Having fatigue after something like that is common. Also, people can have a brain injury symptoms when you cannot see a brain injury. Make sure you talk to your doctor about your severe fatigue, if you have not already done so.

      Utah Neuro Rehabilitation Thank you very much the problem I have is my family doctor is honestly not very good because he never really helps and I don’t have a clue who the other doctors are that worked on me and right now with the virus it’s practically impossible to see a doctor in real life and I’ve got MRSA-my scalp is so itchy and I have a little red bumps on my head and they are so annoyingly itchy I don’t know how to solve this without antibiotics and I am hoping to find a great family doctor sooner than later. I sleep a lot and try to heal but The skin disorder bugs me the most so if you have any advice on how to naturally curate I would love to know! Thank you for getting back to me

      @@UtahNeuroRehabilitation I have seen my GP, neurologists, a neuropsychologist and a neurological rehabilitation consultant. I also saw a specialist Occupational Therapist whose, 'answer,' was pacing and planning everything. I was already doing that anyway. It doesn't give me any more energy to use, however I organise things. I attend a brain injury support group. No one has given me any advice that has helped me with the fatigue at all. I have been getting weaker and weaker physically because I have such severe fatigue I can't manage to exercise. I use all my energy just to look after myself and get food etc. I am frightened that it will progress to me becoming unable to look after myself. I have physical, cognitive and emotional fatigue. I am so desperate. I can't keep going like this. It's a terrible way to live. If I go out one day I have to rest all the following day. I feel I am wasting my life.

      You sound exactly like me! I have seen specialist after specialist for years, no one has anything more helpful to offer. Support groups leave me feeling even more alone.
      You are supposed to do all these things, and you are supposed to get better. But if you keep getting worse anyway, nobody knows WTF to do except keep telling you the same things that you literally don’t have any ability to even do anymore…
      Every day just feels like one more day I’ll never get back. I’m so sorry that you are living this nightmare too.

    Hard to get decent nutrition when you can't cook yourself. I can in no way exercise, sleep is a problem when your brain is playing up. My sleep pattern is all over the place
