I only throw drivers 350 ft on average. Just got ahold of a 171g Trail yesterday and my initial impression was that it's more flippy than what I expected based on the review vids I watched. I actually struggle with throwing on hyzer (yeah I know), but I did pull off a sweet hyzer flip to flat with a long forward push, very slight left finish to park a 368 ft par 3 this morning. I've played that hole a couple hundred times and I've parked it more than once, but never pulled off such a text book, hyzer flip tunnel shot that slid within 3 ft of the pole. Man that was too cool and I'm actually a little excited to keep learning this disc. It's been a hot minute since I felt like that.
Trail has significantly more turn on a forehand drive, compared to backhand, but a more minimal fade (compared to Insanity, Impulse, Vanish, and Wave). Wish you guys would give us some forehand drives for these videos. Trail is a hyzer flip disc that holds it's flip very well on forehand, imo even more useful than a gentle S shaped Backhand thrown flat.
I got a grey 172 g Trail and it is more stable than what I've seen in your video and with other Trails. I have yet to get it to flip up on me consistently, but a few more tree hits should work it in.
I liked the Detour so much I had to try the Trail, straight into the bag. I also have birdied a couple of holes I had not been able to before with the Trail. Straight AF
Really love my neutron trail. Right now it's paired in my bag with an innova glow gorgon in much the same way you're thinking the proton trail will be. The gorgon is just a touch more understable and flies just a bit further with no wind.
Either it's temperature sensitive (it's getting pretty cold where I am), or I got a weird Trail. I get about what you'd expect from the numbers on my Gorgons, but the Trail flies more like a 0 | 2.
I have two neutron trails. One of them flies overstable for me. Its wing is almost high enough to slide over the wing of the other one on a flat table. I'm not sure which one flies like it's supposed to, but it seems like there might be enough variation in the neutron that you might not need to worry about getting a proton for a different flight.
I was very happy to wake to a bonus video this morning. I’ve looked for Trails at retailers, but it seems to be sold out. But, my looking is more for window shopping purposes, to get a feel for it. I doubt I would buy one or bag one as I am happy with my Stag and Hatchet in this category of ‘straight flyers’.
Just did my 1st rated rounds with a Neutron Trail in the bag last weekend, only used it on a few holes but parked it on one them for a birdie. Need to do more field work and science shots with it b4 it's constantly in the tourney setup like a Neutron Virus and Proton Insanity.
I dont think you can ever really attribute a difference in flight to "proton vs neutron" plastic. Depending on the mold, i've had protons that are more overstable, neutrons that are more overstable, and some that are exactly the same. The underlying factor is the RUN of the disc. If you need evidence that proton can be more overstable, look no further than the Mayhem.
The trail gets pretty flippy as it breaks in, I use it for a turn over disc now. I also really like the forged (white or yellow) Era, but they can be hard to come by.
My Trail is so understable it's basically unusable. Red neutron, close to max weight. I throw around 350-380 and the Trail just flips up and starts turning even with a soft throw. Will see if I can figure out a spot for it as a pure turnover disc but right now I'm really disappointed.
Threw it 3 times on sub 300 ft holes and.... Straight is the only word to give it. It's a buddies disc so I don't want to lose it. Definitely grabbing a few for myself
I dont know about the Trail yet. It seems pretty flippy to me. More on the Inertia side than the Tesla to me. I'd love it to be dead straight, but I have a Saint that seems to fill that role better.
I bought so many “straight flying drivers” in my day and none of them were that. Until I took a gamble on the Trail. It’s GOOD. I didn’t need more discs. But it sure kicked a bunch of other drivers out of my rotation.
My favorite discs. I have them in all plastics. Nice range of stabilities. I got a Trail and I do like it. But in no way can it replace the Insanity. Love that disc so much.
Love this perspective! I've thrown the Neutron Trail and the ESP Discraft Cicada. Personally, my arm speed doesn't merit the Trail. For right now, my Cicada is perfect for me. Working up to the Trail's 10 speed, though!
Have not seen an amateur nor a pro that can make this disc do anything but beef left. Even in the Trail intro video they throw it and it banks hard left while they are mid-sentence saying it's a straight flier. My 3 different runs of Trails and 400ft arm speed couldn't do any better
Bought one to compare to my Pharoah and Emperor. Sold it shortly after. My Pharoah and Emp are far superior flying discs (based on headwind / tailwind). Even my Echostar Wraith and Destroyer combo perform better. People will throw (what they want to believe in their Lizotte loving heart) is a disc that flies better than the other 50 drivers in their basement. But it doesnt... it's just another disc. Nothing magical about it.
@@theLizardof0z what a hater. Emperor and destroyers are 12 speeds so that's a terrible comparison. It's all just plastic so just throw what u love. MVP is definitely more consistent than the rebranded innova molds you seem to love. Simon sells discs just like Paul or Ricky or Eagle, get over yourself.
MVP should’ve sent you guys this trail for free and sooner, such great advertisement and show of what it does.

The Trail is disc of the year, imho
Love my Trail... thanks for the Proton tease... :D

congrats on the new website guys! happy for you, looks very slick!
The trail is 🔥
Well, haven't tried it yet, but try Viking Discs, Ragnarok in Warpaint. Love that disc. 😊

A welcome sunday surprise! Congrats on the new website! It looks awesome!
Absolutely love the Trail. Hope I can get a Proton one eventually.

I picked one up and love it. It is straight flying. It’s taking up a spot for a mvp Wave I lost. It was the first disc I ever bought.
Thank you for updating. It may have already been made into a video, but I would be happy if you could cover discs with gimmicks like thumb tracks.

I missed the proton one and I'm sad, I have thrown the neutron one since release and it's my most used driver at this point.
Wish I could have gotten a proton one but all the scalpers for them first
Proton Plastic is truly their best plastic. On warm days the amount of pop and snap you can achieve to their other plastics is unparalleled.
Need a proton soft one with swirly rim with some fun colors

These protons are reselling on auctions at 60-75 dollars as of November 2024
Not surprised, but GEEZ
The buyers make the market
If folks didn't want to pay, they wouldn't. Not sure why people pay premiums for stock runs.
Why people pay that for a stock run is mind boggling. Buyers, make the market, not sellers.
Can't find a protron trail anywhere 😭, but my neutral trail is my favorite disc in my bag, never let's me down!!
The trail gets pretty flippy as it breaks in, I use it for a turn over disc now. I also really like the forged (white or yellow) Era, but they can be hard to come by.
The trail took over my local league!
Seems most similar to a beast x to me but less glide more penetration as MVP discs tend to do. Curious if others have made the comparison.
I am looking forward to your straight driver comparison. Please add a Gold Line Sword to the list of competitors, thanks.
cant find one that someone isnt price gouging.
Same sucks

definently getting a proton trail. Probably waiting for a stock release though
Yeah, not paying $70-100 on the resale market to throw a disc.
MVP is making it really hard to not carry any of their discs they keep making really good stuff!
My experience of the trail is that it’s extremely similar flight characteristics to my proton wave, but with a different hand feel.
Add the Gateway Aura to the straight driver test!
This disc really needs a restock in all plastics. It's very hard to find right now
A fission trail coming soon?
I haven't thrown one yet
The one time I'm 100% sold and the disc is a unicorn. Where do I get my hand on this?

Do you have a brick and mortar location?
We do not, we do pop-up shops a couple times a month during the season though and I can do local pickup in Newark/Granville/Heath, Ohio.
I threw my trail 512 ft I just hit 420 with my Gorgon but my trail wow I never new I could throw that far ..
MMMM BEST
Order it in the 30 minutes they were in stock? No I missed that. 😢
Innova needs to match mvp with a halo gorgon
my trail is at the top of a tree on hole 1 of my local course
The Proton Insanity would fit most players better than the trail, but it doesnt get 1/4 of the marketing.
interesting. I've only thrown my proton Insanity forehand. I'm going to try it backhand and compare to my trail now.
after a few throws of each, I see your point. will have to continue evaluating this more when it's not as rainy.

Bad take
It‘s a James Conrad line disc btw
@@rfpal8543 well aware of that. My point is - the MVP fanboy cult didnt start until SL was signed.
@@ThePlanetNamiknah it’s a pretty fair take. I have an insanity and a crave in the bag now, no need for a trail.

Cool disc, but doing a review of a Disc noone can buy when you post the video is less than useless.
Can't disagree more. His goal is to provide education, not generate sales. I found this very educational
@InbredJed82060 and what will you do with the information about a Disc you can't buy?
