  • A short video made by www.thermobinding.com demonstrating how to use thermal binding. The machine used in this video is a CoverMate 550, which we sell for $249 (on our website it is listed under the TB 500, which is an older model of the 550). The covers used are: ThermoBind Navy Linen, ThermoBind Navy Leatherflex Wrap-Around w/Window, and a UniBind Black Linen Photobook

How do you bind one book right after another? When I tried, the beeping noise came on repeatedly and would not stop. I turned the machine off and then back on and it was still beeping. I unplugged the machine and then turned it back on and it continued to repeatedly beep (more than 3 consecutive times).

Is there a way to use a strip of binding glue along the spine that isn't attached to a cover? I'm wanting to do something like that so I could then attach the pages into my own homemade cover to create a book or journal.

There are 3 ways to do that. You can use our glue strips placed inside a U-shaped cover that you make yourself. You can buy pre-scored 11X17+ CoverBind "Print on Demand" covers that are laser printable. They come with a separate glue strip that you put in after printing. Lastly, you can use Unibind Steelbacks which come in both 11" and 8.5" lengths. One thier own front and back covers and contents and places them inside the steelback (which has temporary covers that have microperforations). After binding the temporary covers are easily removed to reveal the custom printed covers.

can this type of binders good for professional wedding photo album? can it bind 350 gsm papers?

The TB500 is a universal binder that will work with all thermal supplies. That said, all the machines do is add'
the right amount of heat and time to get the resin to bond. If you are trying to bind very thick and inflexible material I suggest you score the pages so they will fold more easily. Otherwise, it puts a great deal of stress on the bind. Layflat paper from Xerox, Unibind, Holmberg and others work particularly well.

Supplies are needed. The machine is basically a heater that activates the resins inside the hard or soft covers or other supplies.
