Nightmare earning that nickname "The Surgeon" in a couple of those games, got exactly what he needed and cut through Byun's defenses like a scalpel. Looking forward to seeing Winter cast more series from Nightmare.
The tactical thought on display here by NightMare was just a cut above. His fundamentals were brilliant - just about every major fight included a flanking force to close down and pin the Terran army - and then so frequently there was some sort of unexpected trick introduced on top of that. Sending a warp prism to drop a sentry to forcefield the ramp‽ I mean, come on, that's awesome!
Man, I really hope this is a Knightmare break-out year. Outside of World Team League, where he makes a huge percentage of his income, Knightmare is normally relegated to smaller, weekly tournaments. Which I think is a shame, because seeing what he can do at his best, he really has the potential. The incredible precision with which he moves and positions his units, the decisive timing of his attacks and counterattacks, his (in my opinion) unmatched usage of vision and Observer placement, he plays so differently from other Protoss. There's clearly an exceptionally intelligent and creative mind working away there. If he can get his mechanical skills up to par with his intelligence, he could absolutely see success in the big leagues.
that game 5 kill was absolutely phenomenal. So much of the way people describe protoss is as if they have no value outside of their killing ball, but Nightmare showing two stunning intricacies in both his micro of a 50 kill colossus AND his ability to surround so well. When Byun came in at the end, just before Byun got to the ramp, Nightmare split his zealots into bottom left of the map behind the mineral line of the next base over (the 5th?). That foresight singlehandedly disallowed Byun to escape. It's one of those things that is great in theory but in practice you just never think about it. Also, what a wonderful showcase of templar. If you just play literally perfect you can beat terran without a single disruptor!
byun scanned and saw units moving round to flank him and still kept moving forward, he had plenty of time to back off there and not take a braindead engagement. in fact if he'd stimmed and ran at the northern flank attempt he probably kills a bunch of the toss army for free
Having watched games 2 and 3 it seems that Nightmare's overall strategy is forcing the point at the exact timing that ghosts begin to enter the equation to prevent them from having an impact.
What I REALLY like about this series is that whenever Nightmare tried typical ladder Protoss BS he got kicked right in his face, but when he played Protoss properly he rolled over Buyns army.
man, i'm so glad to see a protoss mix adapts into their formations. it's supposed to be a diverse force, not just zealot spam. mind you, he did a ton of other really good shit, like really really good stuff. i want to see more of this from protoss.
100% agreed, on both counts. Seeing a colossus get 50 kills they're probably going to nerf prism micro or add delay to unit attack when getting dropped from a prism. You know, because actively microing your units to get 50 kills is so much easier than set and forget. 😂
I dismantled a terran on the ladder. They lifted all their buildings and flew in all corners and walked away from the keyboard -> beta sissy fit. I'll never play terran in sc2 it can make you a beta male. I'm not kidding. Sc1 yes, I'll play terran..
Hey Winter, my dog drowned yesterday and you were the only thing that got me through the night. Watching your Palworld stream kept me happy. I've been watching you for at least a decade now and really appreciate you. You're affecting people in ways you could never imagine. Much love. R.I.P. Scooter 7-7-07 - 1-21-24 I love you so much buddy.
Wooooow This was an amazing game. I didn't know Nightmare had it in him....but he's amazing. He started doing the micro-trick with his Colossus like Byun was doing with his Cyclones. That was an incredible match up! Both really are StarCraft 2 legends!
Nightmare's micro is on point. Most pros I saw on your channel just does attack move on most clashes but he hits the right target specially on game two where there are depots to sponge attacks but almost the whole fight no unit of his attacked those depots.
Big kudos to nightmare it’s so rare to see top level sc2 players really setup their positioning in such a way. Astrea is the only other toss I can think of that does something similar.
35:32 300 200 anti-light unit lost like, a quarter of its health to 2 marines & only killed 1 in the process why.... why is the collosus the way that it is
Yep. Just went on a rant about Colossi being entirely negated by a few dinky planes that only shoot air. It just yucks my yum when huge units like tanks, leviathans or huge battleships look imposing and massive, but play small, weak and extra-fragile.
In game 5 I feel like instead of mirco-ing his colosus, if Nightmare sees that his entire army is marauders and one viking if he builds 1 or 2 stargates the game is literally over...
50 kill colossus that never ranked up or gained the ability to be repaired/heal. Sc2 is fun! Man the game would be so much more fun to play and watch with new mechanics like veterancy
I'm sorry but this tournament on liquipedia looks hilarious. Guess who participated round 16 and up, 10 protosses, 1 zerg and 2 terran. Like what? Is the website broken or something And guess who kicked out the other zerg and terran, yep, Byun did. Not sure what this says about the game state but it's funny to me.
@@theNefariousNoogie No clue, the liquipedia page only shows 13 different names. 5 times 2 names in the ro16 and 3 more added in the quarterfinals. The tree seems a bit awkward.
Can someone explain me how widowmines work ? Because sometimes I feel like you need a detector to see them, and sometimes it seems that they're instantly spotted after they shot ...
It's both actually. At the start of the game they start invisible while burrowed and become revealed after they shoot. After a cool down they recharge their shot and become invisible again. After the owner of the mine builds an armory, the WM is always invisible while burrowed, before and after shooting.
Nightmare earning that nickname "The Surgeon" in a couple of those games, got exactly what he needed and cut through Byun's defenses like a scalpel. Looking forward to seeing Winter cast more series from Nightmare.
Hell yeah! Nightmare is my new favorite player to watch
And then for the other games Byun just slapped him and called him a nerd

Flippin heckin awesome!
That was absolutely genius
If NightMare continues this, he is going to make me as excited to watch his Protos, as I am to see Serral's Zerg.
the colossus in that last game is in fact an immortal :)))

I'm excited to see more nightmare. We have been losing a lot of good protoss players
Glad I found you. Great commentating! You’re very entertaining!😊
His commentary is A1 and enjoyable. 💯
Seen terrans get dismantled warms my heart, that said they gonna get protoss nerfed look at what happens every time serral dominates their top players

That colossus was absolutely insane! Great game!
Woah, I haven’t heard of Nightmare before. Im super excited to see what he’s capable of in this game.

Auto-like every video. Nothing but quality commentary, every match.
I only watch Winter
We need this for sure
Winter is easily the best caster I've seen. He's a masterclass
What an amazing series by these 2 and it was only made better by having the best commentator in the business to go with it! thanks for this winter
I think Nightmare's card deserves an upgrade from Rare to Epic after this one.
byun lookin so sharp with his early game micro
If you casted a Hell's Kitchen Episode 😂😭🤣
Keep being the gangster you are mate!
"You know probes sort of look like fish" is some of the best protoss commentary ive ever heard
Wooooow
This was an amazing game. I didn't know Nightmare had it in him....but he's amazing.

please cast more of nightmare i love seeing terran getting crushed by protoss
One of my favourite series so far, interesting matches, might rewatch again tonight haha ^_^.
great match. Always warms my heart when someone makes toss look OP again
Nightmare's micro is on point. Most pros I saw on your channel just does attack move on most clashes but he hits the right target specially on game two where there are depots to sponge attacks but almost the whole fight no unit of his attacked those depots.
Terrans are the new Protoss, in that everything is about cheese or about late deathball with them.
Wow, that Protoss assault was something. Seeing BYUN struggle to hold the gates was not what i expected, but i am so glad i got!
ah yes, my daily dose of winter StarCraft! WOOOHOOOO *・゜゚(^O^)↝
Nightmare played like a dream in the 2nd and especially 3rd game. Great to see some creativity, flanking and deception mixed!
Big kudos to nightmare it’s so rare to see top level sc2 players really setup their positioning in such a way.
Astrea is the only other toss I can think of that does something similar.
Nice matches. Especially the third one showed some strategic thinking. Well played.
Ah fuck. Protoss won something. I can hear the nerfbat falling as I type this.
What a beautiful trap there at the end. Well done.
Damn bro you really improved your show… also you still young as you was 3 years ago. Big ups
One of the most entertaining games from Protoss in a long time.
Pure protoss tricks. Thanks you Nightmare !
Absolutely love your content
Game of the year for me. So enjoyable to watch!
I like the video during the ad before because I'm confident I will like it 🗿
Thank You
Om nom nom
The nightmare surgeon making protoss look OP. Damn he's good!
Go Nightmare!
Finally some real Protoss wins. Been years since I saw some new playstyle.
@5:40 really missed an opportunity for a Sam Fisher joke. Oof.
How to win as Terran:
Terran - Make more
Zerg - Let the waves crash against you
Protoss - Kill them before they can think
35:32 300 200 anti-light unit lost like, a quarter of its health to 2 marines & only killed 1 in the process

that revenge drop micro of the colossus..
wow game 1 was crazy. nightmare is truly the surgeon!
Holy shit game 5 ty byun for having a bunker and not dying to those stalkers
14:43 Is that Starbound music I hear?!
This protoss guy smart
LETS GO!! :D Another protoss.
That 2nd game was a nightmare on elm street for terran. Its official. In PVT toss needs to be more on offense than defense.
Does it ever seem like medivacs should be a lot larger, or only able to hold bio units?
that immortal colossus technique was crazy
It looks like Nightmare controls the camera with WASD. Am I seeing that right? 23:36
It looks like mouse at edge of screen scrolling to me, but that might just be me. :)
How did that first probe lose hit points with full shields before the reaper started attacking??? First game... Scary
It's an early scouting probe that battled with an SCV.
How difficult would Terran be if medivacs dropped fast and had to pick up one at a time.
In game 5 I feel like instead of mirco-ing his colosus, if Nightmare sees that his entire army is marauders and one viking if he builds 1 or 2 stargates the game is literally over...
Thank the gs for your channel
I’m going to petition the name change from the Mule Hammer to Mulenir, like mjolnir, Thor’s hammer
50 kill colossus that never ranked up or gained the ability to be repaired/heal. Sc2 is fun! Man the game would be so much more fun to play and watch with new mechanics like veterancy
How do they chose specialized upgrades for each game?
wow nightmare what a game!
Inspirational Protoss!
Nightmare he just knows dude
I am sitting here wondering if winter said to be honest. Or if he is making a starcraft pun and is saying to byonest
Nightmare's player card abilities should say "Pre-op" and "Surgical strike", respectively. Such a missed opportunity!
I'm sorry but this tournament on liquipedia looks hilarious.

Very beautiful games :)
Christ I need a drink after that 😂
I can’t help wanting to see more nighmare😊
Nightmare my dude
Micro Jackson, AHAHAH
NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE
immortals do so well idk why people dont use them they are the meat of the army

Terran A move race
Byun is so sus sometimes

2.4k likes mister
