One important thing that I haven’t seen on comments is that at this time Ford owned Volvo and this car has Volvo suspension and Volvo safety gear. It’s an extremely smooth riding car. I’ve got an 05 and I am very pleased with it, but I think it’s important to note, the Volvo influence on the Ford 500

I bought my 2007 in 2010 and have absolutely loved it! Great mileage, comfortable with plenty of head room for tall people. I have not had to replace a single thing under the hood except a battery and I have approx 125k miles/200k klm on it. The gas tank is a good size and combined with good mileage and I have been able to get 700 km/434 miles to a tank on the highway. The only issue I have with it is an AC control solenoid needs replaced as the AC goes warm at idle.

We absolutely love the Ford 500! My son is driving it now. We have had it 8 yrs and have only replaced the water pump. 200,000 miles and runs great. Love the Duratechs.
There's 80..... it seemed he had no trouble getting in front of that truck. Incredibly safe vehicles, solid engines, and smooth problem free transmissions. My neighbor has one with 280K on the odometer and wouldn't part with it to save the world.
Just an all around great car. I've driven mine for 13 years and it has a huge trunk, large comfortable interior best ride and great handling. I'd buy another low mile one in a minute. This car has been problem free and easy to maintain.
the front passenger seat will fold forward in case you didnt know. but the duratec in those will run forever. My 2005 taurus had the same engine and it had 400,000 on it when I sold it. that was all original except for maint. parts.
I own a 2005 ford 500. I'm 36 and I love fast cars but honest I have no complaints it's a well rounded cruiser. It has 102,000 miles and still runs smooth and strong. At first sight I thought not for me but it grew on me and I like it.
Haha i just read this post and you say exactly how i feel. My last two cars were a twin turbo 3000gt vr4 and a mazda rx8. I just got out of prison and was looking to spend around 1500 to 2k. Found myself an 05 as well with 130k miles for 1700$ had it for a month now and def growin on me
Just picked up an 07 with 17k original miles. One owner AZ car, still looks brand new. I don't love the looks, but it is growing on me. It is insanely comfortable though, will definitely be a great road trip car. It has been a relief reading a lot of positive reviews about these and their reliability.
A Ford employee told me they stopped making it to eliminate recall rights where the Taurus was made, after a few years, they could change back. I don't know that to be true, or not. I love my 06 Ford 500. Keep it serviced, and very important to keep the transmission fluid changed regularly, and flush out the radiator, and if course change the oil.
John g - that's not what i read. I read where Ford did an evaluation and found that the American public gets BORED with the same cars, same body styles, etc. and decided to rename the Taurus the Ford FIVE HUNDRED. It didn't go well with the public - they stopped people on the street and asked them which was more familiar - the Ford Taurus or the Five hundred. Everyone said the Taurus and Alan Mulally told them to bring the Taurus back.
@@fergap9438 I thought Ford stopped producing the Taurus when they made the five hundred, 2005 thru 2007, then changed back to the Taurus. Of course, now I guess there both history, since we Ford will stop making car's, except what, the Mustang, and the GT? I guess, Ford sells more profitable trucks and SUV's.
I have an 06 with AWD and the CVT. She's about to hit 150k and I do like it. I am a sucker for auto headlights and auto climate control. It just bugs me that the auto lights are so sensitive. But as long as it stays running, I'll look past that
Mine is now at 345,000 kms. Got it at 173,000 km in Dec 2016 and drive it 30-60 minutes to work every day. In 2017 I took it on a trip from Ontario to Syndey, Nova Scotia, threw it on a ferry, took it to St. John's Newfoundland, drove it all around the island, drove all the way back. I think it was a 10,000 km trip in 2 months. Hit some major potholes, took it somewhat off-road where it dropped on its own frame on a rock ( thank god it wasn't the oil pan ). The damn thing never dies. Last year the alternator finally quit on the highway but other than that, no major issues. One common flaw I see with these cars is the tendency to rust out the rocker panels by the rear wheel, and if you're in a cold area like Canada, there was a recall on the door latches - they freeze OPEN and will not allow the door to close without a lot of screwing around / heat gun / warming up the car for 30m. If you can keep the body intact and perform basic engine maintenance it will last forever.
I have 1 it just turns off after it heats up Brand new computer throttle thermostat water pump and nothing ford couldn't find out what is wrong with it,it turns over fine any advice besides turning a match on it
2007 Ford 500 limit AWD was my first car. I absolutely love it. I love all the room inside, truck space too. Have taken it camping with 4 other people. Great for road trips.
Ford stopped production for a number of reasons. Mostly it was a planned stop gap vehicle until the new 3.5l v6 was ready l, which is what the Five Hundred was supposed to have (the 08 and 09 Taurus/500 did have that engine). Plus with the recession at the time and the cost of parts for the European cvt transmission, it simply became too expensive for Ford to keep it going.
I just got lucky with my 2006 Ford 500 because it literally had no mileage on it it was in pristine condition I'm just saying I mean....mine also though is a different it's just not a 500 but I see why Ford's not production on some things I'm just saying
What do you mean by fast? I don't understand what you mean about that? because it's not slow yes and you're correct it's not fast but I'm wondering if we have I'm going to have to look cuz I think mine is a different model than just the regular
it's an extremely nice car like I'm obsessed with mine still like I would literally by well let me well I take that back I wouldn't now of course I was going to say for my daughter she's 20 but oh no she's getting in the safest vehicle possible not that she has a vehicle I'm just saying her new vehicle
We owned 2 Ford 500s (a 2005 and a 2006) and they were our favorite vehicles ever. They were built like a tank. Very sturdy and very, very comfortable. The only problems we had included the door cavities would fill with water during heavy rain and you could hear it sloshing around when you opened and closed the doors (both the 2005 & 2006). Our 2006 had a TCM (transmission control module) problem in 2017 and found that they no longer made that module. If they were still making these cars we'd buy them in a heartbeat. Good video. Thanks! We have a video on our channel about the TCM problem if you're interested. Blessings! Jim
We have a white 500 with 225k on it. It's still cruising on. It is slow, but for going to town for groceries; it's a great little car. It is comfortable, and it has enough room for me (6'3") in any seat. Highly recommended!
when i owned this car i did find it very comfortable even in the back, and the space was insane for a sedan, definitely will want to buy one in my future
Grazie Ghia coachbuilders! Ford junior fell in love with all things Italian after meeting his Italian bride and went on an Italian spending spree of car & racing engineers and designers during the 1960's.
It's going to always feel like a slower car because it has a CVT transmission in it, but you shouldn't have any problems with it at least! Thing will just keep going and going!
Mhh? Where is the "fatal" flaw? Does the steeringwheel come loose? Do the wheels Fly off when you brake? Do passengers get ejected when you make a sharp turn? I see no "fatal" flaw (except when you need to change sparkplug or coils on it) in our Ford 500 and the power was always enough to hold up with traffic. You want to Win a street race get the appropriate car. I would be more concerned with "lack" of power on the German Autobahn. Been there lived there. The best feature is the unobstructed visibility you get in this car. It does what it was designed for extremely well.
You had any issue with a throttle something listen sexy I need to talk to you my transmission went out but it wasn't on me I can prove it and oh s*** I'm actually about to start a channel on some crazy ass s*** that can help a lot of people hit me up cuz I need to talk to you
We bought one new in 2005 and still have it. My wife loves it. I've been I guess, satisfied with it. It's had very few problems. About 120K miles on it now. But like you said, it's a bit boring, but comfortable and adequate power.
I have a 2006 500 SEL I would gladly have another one. I have driven several of these, I think they were one of the best cars out there. If you like a roomy gas efficient car. Plus I have hauled a lot of boards etc. With it 8 foot long board's. It's a very handy vehicle to have
Just got mine yesterday 2006 limited AWD fully loaded 108k mi I love it, it’s a car ahead of its time. Very fortunate that it was garage kept in CO no rust on any components in the engine literally looks brand new. (Edit radio buttons aren’t worn at all either!) Though I do think there’s a air bubbles in my power steering nothing that a flush wouldn’t fix. Very lucky to own a “rare” vehicle I guess you could say? Thanks for the vid
Had my car for 3 years and everything you can think of is wrong with it. Never had an accident or drive reckless. It just tearing up, especially the spark plugs snd water pump
I think of a damn good car! My daughter has a 06 and was wondering why you can hear your transmission? You can’t feel or hear my daughters car shift, they call it a floating transmission!
I got my 2006 Five Hundred SEL FWD in pretty much the same situation from my grandparents a couple years ago. It had 72k miles on the clock when I got it. It's been a couple years now and it's got 82k as of today and I've had quite literally 0 issues with it. I agree with pretty much every single one of your points, and your son totally missed by not taking that car. Happy to drive my grandma car.
I genuinely miss my five hundred, it was my first car and for some dumb reason I sold it after buying a 2011 bmw E90. I should have kept it, so many memories and was insanely reliable. Not that my non turbo bmw isn’t reliable but I had a bond with it. It was so comfortable and smooth, I should have never sold it. Like nothing went wrong with it throughout my 6 years/70k miles of ownership. I swear I’ll own another one in a couple years. They’re insanely overlooked and that can be used to my advantage to acquire a reasonably priced one with low miles.
I just bought my five hundred. When I worked at a Ford dealership back in 2006 I was tasked with selling the ford five hundred. And the more I learned about it the more I thought "damn, I would LOVE to have a ford five hundred!" From then on I'd see them here and there and think.. "there it goes." Recently my daughter wanted a car and I thought it would be the perfect time to give her my 2012 Altima (never gave me a problem. Still strong at 150,000mi) I got it and have been loving taking the time to tweak it here and there. It really feels like your just sitting lounger chair floating down the highway. I got to drive my friends 2022 BMW 5 series last night and it's super futuristic.. but to me it's just not "a car" THAT is an experience. The 500... Is a car. And at 6'5" I fit pretty well in it.
Run into enough people and you'll get a variety of opinions...form your own...I had a company car, 2005 Fivehundred, with the 3.0 and 6 speed trans, reset fuel economy computer and drove from Charlotte to Richmond and averaged 29mpg...It was actually 30mpg but you probably don't believe 29mpg...I was thoroughly impressed with that car.
Add turbo(s), larger engine. That would make it unreliable! The new 3.5 you have to DISMANTLE the engine to replace $40 water pump. $2,000 job - have fun with that.
Tru That. Massive thumbs down, and not just ecoboost models, only trucks, Expedition, and the precious Mustang got the accessory belt powered waterpump, and they were designed to be municipal, fleet and Police use vehicles.
My 95 year old mom gave me her 2007,500 about a month ago and it just turned 100k. The only issues i have are the A/C will blow cold as long as you moving , As soon as you stop at a RL it will start blowing hot air...Also when it gets between 45 &50 mph it will shutter alittle like its not getting gas.as soon as it gets to 50 it stops.Under 45 it runs fine,it only acts up berween 45-50. I get about 19mpg..It has plenty of pickup for my wife and I..Its also a comfortable ride and we like it..
Yeah I still get 25 plus mpg avg, I had to change spark plugs and coil packs to get it though. Changed a few alternators and belts(both were not fun,oh and back brake pads...special tool opposite sh..) but yeah it has its quirks after 240,000 miles and that dam overhead light is touchy with ignition switch. 😊
I stopped watching the video after you said your son didn’t want the car. I just bought a 2007 with 70k miles. It drives great. It sounds like your 16 year old son has a case of spoiled af and u better teach him good because this generation is going to take us all out. Ugh spoiled kids are going to be our downfall
Not sure how old you are but they said the same thing about my generation and the ones before that... granted there is a lot of self entitlement in this world these days and some are definitely worse than others
@@LuisRamirez-ln3cj can't say I blame you and of course I cant hear your tone in a comment but keep in mind you are talking about my son and in a sense me as well. @@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction I meant it in general, not just in your case. I was spoiled in that I never was drafted into a war. The truth is that, in general terms, each generation is becoming weaker and more docile than the next. That's just how the government wants it to be.
My 2005 ford 500 has cvt transmission issues , it jerks and pops if you take off fast or slow down fast . I bought it - t m u - so i have no idea of the mileage on it because the dash cluster didnt work . I bought a used cluster and took it to the dealership , and the dealership said that they could not program the engine computer to the dash cluster . Now i can not get the oil life on it to reset . I do it the way that you are supposed to but to no avail . The air compressor blew a hole in it so no ac . The rear doors were full of water when i first got it so it has bad rust at the bottom rear side on both sides . The drain plugs were plugged .
CVT tans aren't known for their reliability and those drain plugs are notorious for getting plugged. Sorry to hear you're having issues. O really they are very good cars!!
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction And my cd player got jammed . So now i have 6 cds stuck in it . The gas gauge works maybe 10 % of the time . The drivers floorboard has a big hole in it . lol I took it to 2 different garages because my right rear strut is bad and they couldnt fix it .
But i have had it around 6 years so i only paid 2400 for it . So i am just driving it until the tranny or engine croaks then i will junk it .Just a work car now .
I have a 2006 Ford 500 limited that I bought new. Yes, it could have used a little more power, but most everything else I like about it. Of course, I'm old too, lol. Mine has air bags front and side, the car is a sled with lots of room, and a huge trunk. When I first bought it, the rear braks wore out fast, I upgraded to better rotars and pads from Napa. I keep the oil changed regularly, just had transmission fluid changed. It's really been a nice car. I have about 138,000 miles now, but most were put on it in the first few years, I just don't drive much now. Good luck. John
I bought a 2006 Ford 500 new. Very good car. I agree with your assessment. Mine now has 266,000. No engine work. No transmission work [6 speed]. Very few repairs.
Got mine two years ago with 190k I'm now at 274k. Been in 4 accidents, tbone and 3 rear ends its ugly and beat up but still goes. Simpley maintained, repaired entire front end and fuel pump power steering pump. Only issue is the wire harness laying on the back of the engine burns it up and it doesnt run, just have to rewire that and its a tank.

I have a 2005 and i thought from day one it had a lot of power! Still does! Slowing down in its older years but still, best car I've owned! Very few issues except really starting to show the rust. But that's my fault.
Loved my 500, so solid at 70mph, handled great, no drift at all, like I barely had to steer that thing. And talk about roomy, you could seat 5 big people in comfort plus 5 bodies in the trunk with a full size spare. Only problem was the CVT went bad and being over 80K I couldnt even get the fluid changed and the Trans shop wanted $3,750. to rebuild the trans. I should have done the trans, just no joy in driving a Toyota.
I have an 06 Ford 500 just a regular front wheel drive I wish it was all wheel drive but I actually love my little 500 she's a quicken but I love that car I got it at 130,000 miles 7 months later it's got a 173,000 on it and I've done nothing to it but routine maintenance like brakes tires oil changes I'm not a single check engine light I live in Pennsylvania and I'm taking her all the way to Los Angeles California on multiple occasions and she is never left me stranded
We jus bought a 2006 Ford five hundred limited been sitting for a year but drove it for about a month before the transmission jus went out but it's in the shop getting fixed now but it is a smooth car 198 thousand miles
Ford might have wanted us to remember Fairlane 500 or Galaxie 500; but the number by itself, slapped on the car in CAPITAL LETTER words, had none of that heritage cachet.
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction I also have a 05 accord that I’ve had a lot of work done too 500 whp but considering the ford 500 is only 203 it’s pretty quick and yeah those Sho’s get up and go
You say it’s not fast, but it wasn’t supposed to be, this was part of the gimmick that Ford was selling off with their Fairlane series, you see ford had the Fairlane 500 back in the 1970s, and here they have it now, they did the same thing with the Fairlane Crown Victoria and numerous other cars. The Five Hundred you have is supposed to be a modern land yacht, just like the fairlane 500 of the 1970s
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction Yours might last even longer, mine has the CVT witch is quite troublesome if you maintain yours well, oil every 5k transmission every 30k It could easily last 300k.
@@JoMama55824 that's really good to know. I doubt I will keep it that long anyway but it's good to know it will have a lot of miles for whoever's I sell it to down the road
Ford has definitely stepped up their game. My Ford went out around 230K and it was because of the transmission (overdrive plunger wouldn't stay in). Should've found someone that could weld aluminum and that car would still be on the road.
Mine has 250. Runs and shifts fine. Did have to have the steering rack replaced. Former owner used silicone to fix a leak. That crap ended up inside the steering mechanism.
More room than a Crown Vic. One foot shorter. 6speed double clutch automatic paired with a zippy 3.0 duratec. Volvo suspension with more airbags than the senate. Pain in the ass to change rear plugs, transmission has no accessable filter, but all in all, one of the BEST VEHICLES ON THE PLANET. He thinks the duratec 3.0 is slow the 3.0 vulcan In the Taurus is gutless with its 160hp makes the duratec seem like a beast both are very reliable I've had both a 2007 five hundred limited and a 2005 Taurus se state owned detective car with the vulcan

Extreme Automotive Addiction Did you see Scotty Kilmer’s video on the Ford 500? He compared the 6 speed automatic with the cvt transmission. He actually found the cvt to last longer. I’d probably baby the 6 speed and make it last the life of the car. He said it is a really good car. He and I are Toyota and Honda drivers because they last practically forever with minimal maintenance. I saw a guy driving a 500 yesterday and I thought that it was a really decent looking car that looked to be in excellent shape especially for a car from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They apparently treat their metal well against rust. Sounds to me like you have a winner.
@@jonnyboat2 yes I have seen Scottys video. Weird cause it seems like every other thing I hear is the opposite when it comes to transmission reliability. It is a good car and I plan to continue driving it for a while for sure
@@jonnyboat2 it's the opposite. Scotty talks like he knows what he's talking about, most of the time he did, but not always. I've got an 05 with 214k with the original 6 speed. Towed boats and trailers since 60k
I've been owning Ford 500 for last 4 years. The car has two major advantages: cargo space and safety. This car was developed when Ford owned Volvo. I've been in 2 accidents in this car, and in both could drive away with no major issues, while the other driver's car had to be towed. The trunk is gigantic and cargo space is huge. The dowsides is that the design has major faults; Transmission is a nightmare, A/C Compressor; Throttle Valve; EGR Valve; Heater Core, Evaporator; Water Pump.
MAN!!! my 2005 Five Hundred as 220,000 miles and it runs like new!!! and yes, the lack of power is there, but is super reliable, the only complain that i have is the rear struts!! there a pain to R&R, but it well worth the investment!!!
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction I just got a flat yesterday and was on weird terrain when I changed to my spare tire so I turned it on. Now it’s stuck and idk what to do :/

Which transmission is better is debatable. Some say the 6speed is better, some say the CVT is better and some say who cares both are running at high miles with regular maintenance which you're supposed to do regardless to any vehicle. My S10 has gone thru 2 rear ends so I was hoping to find one of these cars with less than 100k on them
I race with my ford 500 on the highway all the time. I beat many Honda’s, Nissan, and older mustangs. The handling when I swerve lanes is good for it being the type of car it is. The only reason I would lose is cause mines only goes up to 120 and stop at 115
Haha same it’s surprising pretty quick for what it is wish I could take the top speed limiter off of it. I can feel it wants to go faster than 115 but it bounces off the limiter.
my ford 500 is the luxury edition or whatever it’s called, it is front wheel drive if not mistaken, it is a 2005, it is sitting around 175,000 miles and it is still in very good shape. The car is pretty damn fast though, and in a crash very very durable car, handles like a damn tank.

Just an all around great car. I've driven mine for 13 years and it has a huge trunk, large comfortable interior best ride and great handling. I'd buy another low mile one in a minute. This car has been problem free and easy to maintain.
That's really great to hear!!!
Still have it? and 6 speed or CVT??
How is it going up steep hills? @denztenz
the front passenger seat will fold forward in case you didnt know. but the duratec in those will run forever. My 2005 taurus had the same engine and it had 400,000 on it when I sold it. that was all original except for maint. parts.
Thanks! Ya I keep hearing how these cars will run forever...that's good to know!!
The CVT that was offered in some was known as one of the best ever made, 200,000 mile units, Nissans for example, need a full pluck @ 70,000 miles.
I own a 2005 ford 500. I'm 36 and I love fast cars but honest I have no complaints it's a well rounded cruiser. It has 102,000 miles and still runs smooth and strong. At first sight I thought not for me but it grew on me and I like it.
I agree, mine has grown on me as well and it has enough power to get you out there and down the road...great cruiser as well
Just wait. That 6 speed will bite you in the ass.
Great find! Enjoy, they are nice cars!
Very reliable bullet proof. Just keep it clean. Wash it like it was a million dollar Ferrari. Because rust is it's weakness
@@rockandroll4689 not true, there are ford Taurus thru the same years Ford five hundred was also made.
@@Johnny53kgb-nsa nah they didn’t they just turned the five hundred into the Taurus once the body style got old
@@Sniper_T_2x But the Taurus was made first, for quite some time, then Ford changed to the 500, then after 3 year's, Ford changed back to the Taurus
Got a 2005 Montego FWD (Mercury's version of the 500). Almost 290k mileage on it, and still running great. Bought it at 217k.

2007 Ford 500 limit AWD was my first car. I absolutely love it. I love all the room inside, truck space too. Have taken it camping with 4 other people. Great for road trips.
You're a good family man, that aspect matters more to me than the car being reviewed. Good dad to your boy, honourable grandson to your Grandmother.
Thank you for your kind words!!
That's good info, thank you!!
You're right that it can't be classified as fast I I am with you on that I have an accurate deal so I'm with you
it's an extremely nice car like I'm obsessed with mine still like I would literally by well let me well I take that back I wouldn't now of course I was going to say for my daughter she's 20 but oh no she's getting in the safest vehicle possible not that she has a vehicle I'm just saying her new vehicle
It's all about that bass :) Thanks for the great review.
Blessings! Jim
Thanks, ya we have the same water sloshing issue as well but they are great cars
I have 05 500 same water issue was driving me crazy, peel back bit of weather strip and it drains out
I’ve owned 3 and all of them went well over 200k miles.
Most issues I ever had was some suspension
We have a white 500 with 225k on it. It's still cruising on. It is slow, but for going to town for groceries; it's a great little car. It is comfortable, and it has enough room for me (6'3") in any seat. Highly recommended!
Oh yes. The ole "grocery getters" 🙂
I have the limited awd. I have no complaints. I didn’t get it for power I got it to be a great family full size car. And it delivers
when i owned this car i did find it very comfortable even in the back, and the space was insane for a sedan, definitely will want to buy one in my future
I agree it is a nice car and great for the family
i think the 500 is one of the nicest looking sedans ever
You had any issue with a throttle something listen sexy I need to talk to you my transmission went out but it wasn't on me I can prove it and oh s*** I'm actually about to start a channel on some crazy ass s*** that can help a lot of people hit me up cuz I need to talk to you
I disagree I have the 06 and it's pretty fast. It's not a fast car but it just sneaks right up on people and picks up speed when I want it to
80 is fast enough that sounds powerful
Ha ha...thanks!!
We bought one new in 2005 and still have it. My wife loves it. I've been I guess, satisfied with it. It's had very few problems. About 120K miles on it now. But like you said, it's a bit boring, but comfortable and adequate power.
Ya, it is a good "blend in" kinda car!
I have a 2006 500 SEL I would gladly have another one. I have driven several of these, I think they were one of the best cars out there. If you like a roomy gas efficient car. Plus I have hauled a lot of boards etc. With it 8 foot long board's. It's a very handy vehicle to have
It’s not gas efficient
It's a family car. Who cares how fast it is?
Family cars can't be fast??
Bought mine in 2015 at 12k miles. Just hit 74k this month. The thing is a tank

Some were offered with CVT's often the awd models.
Additional note from my previous one, I’m planning to but one as my first car, what should I know when buying one and is it a good choice?
They are great cars for sure. My son inherited mine and he isn't the easiest on cars but it keeps going and going
I have the exact same car man what would you recommend to beef it up. I love the car
Don't think there is a lot can be done
My 2007 has 145k. Inside is filthy from my job and the a/c pump is shot, but I love it. It is roomy and the stereo blasts good
Yes they really are great cars. I have added 10k miles on mine since I got it and so far so good!
They are a great car. I have since passed mine on to my son and I know it will be a reliable car for him as long as he chooses to own it
I just bought my five hundred.
I ended up giving mine to my son and so far it is doing well. I am sure it will serve him well for a very long time...

My 2006 awd traction light is on can’t get it off ugh
Add turbo(s), larger engine. That would make it unreliable! The new 3.5 you have to DISMANTLE the engine to replace $40 water pump. $2,000 job - have fun with that.
Tru That. Massive thumbs down, and not just ecoboost models, only trucks, Expedition, and the precious Mustang got the accessory belt powered waterpump, and they were designed to be municipal, fleet and Police use vehicles.
And the CVT 500s are junk.

The rear doors were full of water when i first got it so it has bad rust at the bottom rear side on both sides . The drain plugs were plugged .

I have the 07 limited and it’s pretty fast honestly maybe yours is just slow or lags
Speed and fast is relative to the person behind the wheel. I now have a 13 SHO as my daily and I don't think that car is particularly fast 🤷♂️

Is that the 6 speed automatic? How’s the transmission holding up?
Yes it is and so far so good 👍
Extreme Automotive Addiction Did you see Scotty Kilmer’s video on the Ford 500?
Good to know about the cars safety. I am enjoying mine as a daily driver
Yup my transmission sucks and water pump just died on me parts are so expensive
@@Fattboiixx that's not good. I'm hoping mine will hang in there for a long time. The car just turned over 24k miles
I've actually put two 55-gallon drums inside the cabin. I didn't know I'd be able to do it, but yep, did it!
I have an '05 500 and it just went to 18,000 miles. Yep I said 18,000!!! The a/c
MAN!!! my 2005 Five Hundred as 220,000 miles and it runs like new!!! and yes, the lack of power is there, but is super reliable, the only complain that i have is the rear struts!! there a pain to R&R, but it well worth the investment!!!
Good to hear
Can’t get the park brake to shut off :/
I don't think I have ever used mine
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction I just got a flat yesterday and was on weird terrain when I changed to my spare tire so I turned it on. Now it’s stuck and idk what to do :/
@@tylersanders8416 sounds like it is frozen. Maybe some lubricant would help to break it free
I had a similar issue. Brake lights stayed on even while pressing gas pedal and accelerating. It was the brake switch....right above the pedal itself under the dash.
I’m having a problem with a 500 can you help me
I can try
What's the fatal flaw?
It's slow lol
Mine is a big piece of crap... Engine light comes back on even after the repairs. Latest fun is. Radio cd player cycles through saying error, then the tail lights went out, then MAF senor for the second time, ugg help me....lost in California
So sorry to hear. Sounds like you got a lemon ad most people have positive things to say about their cars
these cars get around just fine. did he think it was a sports car?
It's acceptable but still fairly anemic
I have a 2006 ford five hundred with 317,000 miles on it and it’s still driving strong. Best used car I’ve ever bought and would buy another one. Strongly recommend this car to someone who wants a reliable car.
That is a great testimony, thank you for sharing!!
Which transmission is better is debatable. Some say the 6speed is better, some say the CVT is better and some say who cares both are running at high miles with regular maintenance which you're supposed to do regardless to any vehicle. My S10 has gone thru 2 rear ends so I was hoping to find one of these cars with less than 100k on them
Mine currently has 34k on it. Stay in touch with me cause I tend to get bored and sell them within a year or two 😀
Get the 6speed I have 230,000 miles no problems (with the transmission) besides it revving a little higher which is fine
No matter type of vehicle. They all have issues eventually.. That's not just a fact. That's common sense.
Got 362000 on mine just now having problems with the fuel system, but easy fixes...much cheaper than a new Kia..lol
Besides, where can you possibly drive any faster but on the Autobon and Racetrack
Ha ha...ya you're right, what was I thinking 🤔
The car does utilize it just over 200 hp pretty well and they really are good cars...nice ride and comfy
